Books on Sale: Contemporary Awesomeness from Ruthie Knox, Maisey Yates and More

Book Ride With MeRECOMMENDED – Ride With Me, Ruthie Knox's first contemporary with LoveSwept, is on sale for .99c. Road Trip Romance! On Bikes! I reviewed this book in 2012 and gave it a B saying that the ending was rushed for me, but I loved the descriptions:

There were a number of extraordinary features to this book. First, Knox describes the changing American landscape in such a way that you never feel the monotony of biking. Every chapter and each state is different, and the descriptions of how the rolling hills and endless plains of one state vs. another are the opposite of boring.

When Lexie Marshall places an ad for a cycling companion, she hopes to find someone friendly and fun to cross the TransAmerica Trail with. Instead, she gets Tom Geiger—a lean, sexy loner whose bad attitude threatens to spoil the adventure she’s spent years planning.

Roped into the cycling equivalent of a blind date by his sister, Tom doesn’t want to ride with a chatty, go-by-the-map kind of woman, and he certainly doesn’t want to want her. Too bad the sight of Lexie with a bike between her thighs really turns his crank. Even Tom’s stubborn determination to keep Lexie at a distance can’t stop a kiss from leading to endless nights of hotter-than-hot sex.

But when the wild ride ends, where will they go next?

Book UnbuttonedRECOMMENDED – Unbuttoned, an e-novella in a new series from Maisey Yates, is $1.99 for a limited time – and the price should have dropped in all locations. Elyse reviewed it in June and gave it an A and said:

“The thing I loved so much about this novella was the verbal sparring between Carly and Lucas. I love a feisty heroine and a charismatic hero, especially when they clash. The scenes where they duked it out verbally, all the while undressing each other mentally, were so delicious. “

Carly Denton has learned to keep her buttons and emotions firmly fastened. Her parents’ constant drama, and an unrequited crush on her brother’s best friend, taught her to keep her passion beneath the surface. But she can no longer avoid the one man with the ability to bring that passion to a boil… Lucas remembers Carly as a freckle-faced tomboy—not a frosty woman who treats him like a burr under her saddle.

But when they must work together on a charity project, Lucas is shocked to find their bickering melt into some serious mutual attraction. He’s determined to show Carly that he’s the man for her, if only she’d learn to let loose. Lucas is the last man on earth Carly should give in to.

The freedom she finds in his arms has her feeling happier than ever, but is it enough to make her realize that the greatest risk isn’t losing your heart, but losing the chance at happiness?

Book The Sweethearts' Knitting ClubThe Sweethearts' Knitting Club by Lori Wilde is $1.99 right now. This is the first book in Wilde's Twilight, Texas, small town contemporary series. This book has a 3.72 average on GoodReads – and I am curious. Have you read it?

“Throw a penny in the fountain of the Twilight town square, and you'll be married to your first love . . . “

For ten years, pretty Flynn MacGregor has been turning down the same solid, upright man's marriage proposal. Her friends at the Sweethearts' Knitting Club tell her they're a match made in heaven, but Flynn knows there's only one dangerous reason why she keeps saying no: high school sweetheart Jesse Calloway. She was just sixteen when Jesse was forced out of town under a cloud of suspicion . . . but he's never left her heart.

Now Jesse is back, and every time she turns the corner he's there—gazing at her with his smoldering eyes and tempting her with his kisses. Jesse has never played by the rules, and he's made it clear that he's not going to now.

And Flynn, who's always done just what her family, friends, and fellow knitters have told her to do, must finally break free and claim the love that binds Jesse to her heart.

So, I have to ask this – does anyone get cancer or die in the knitting book?  Seems like every knitting romance I’ve read has some sort of terrible tragedy.  (Except for a few m/m and f/f novellas – they seem to have more kinky sex and no cancer)

FYI: there are a bunch of free Harlequins on Barnes & Noble.  If you search all contemporary romances and then sort price low to high, you’ll find about a dozen.  I already had one or two of them but I grabbed a few more to read in a few weeks after I finish the CPA exam.  I love free books!

@Jessica – thanks for the heads up. I like free books too.

Which reminds me, Promises by Marie Sexton is free at Amazon. I love this book – it’s emotional, romantic and feels very real. If you haven’t tried Marie Sexton or m/m, this is a good place to start.
