Ah, scoundrels with color changing pants! They are so marvelous. You may recall London's Last True Scoundrel and his wardrobe challenge: he (or his publisher) can't decide what color pants to wear.
There's Buff:

Then there's Brown and Furry-looking:
But imagine my surprise when I received an email from author Christina Brooke, who wrote,
“I'm laughing at your blog post on cover double takes–I've had that comment a lot about my hero's pants on LONDON'S LAST TRUE SCOUNDREL. In between the buff pants and the dark brown there was a delightful shade of…. Which is now immortalized in ARC form.”
Your challenge to win this rare and immortalized wardrobe selection in ARC format: GUESS THE COLOR.
What color were his pants on the ARC? Leave your answer in the comments, and you're entered to win. You don't have to get it right. You just have to guess.
I'll select the winner at random on Friday 24 May at 12:00pm ET. Christina Brooke is providing the prize: a copy of the ARC of London's Last True Scoundrel, with the magical pants – and she will ship anywhere in the world (Thank you ma'am!).
Standard disclaimers apply: I am not being compensated for this giveaway. I am, however, wearing pants. Void where prohibited. Open to international residents were permissible by applicable law. Must be over 18 and wearing pants to enter. Your mileage may very. Close cover before striking. Objects in mirror may be closer to pants than they appear. Tumble dry low.
So… what color were his pants?

Grey?
Charcoal.
Lilac
I’m guessing blue with tan drapes. Since it sounds like it was a color that came between the tan and brown. Floating torso wins!
I’m guessing a tan-ish color, like the first book cover!
Nantucket red, with little embroidered sailboats. (Hey, all the plausible choices were taken!)
I’m thinking something in the pinkish range, pale to deep. That said, what the heck is going on with his back? It reminds me of those terrible tans in a bottle from my teen years that always, always turned someone orange.
While puce was the first to come to mind, I’ll say they were orange/rust, so that it looked like he was shakin’ his booty in the sun too long.
Got beaten to both purple and buckskin yellow so will go with…a muted golden-y brown.
But if it is pink and sequined I will buy the book on principle alone
Well, I’ve been dealing with Dan Brown reserves all day, so my brain wants to insist on “Harris Tweed.”
But my heart is singing “When the Deep Purple falls…”
My guess is grey. Common color for pants.
I will say orange.
Banana yellow.
I am going to be very boring and say black…
I’ll go with taupe 🙂
