Time for the Sizzling Book Club Chat! Tonight at 9pm, the window below will go live with our discussion of Family Man by Marie Sexton and Heidi Cullinan.
The authors will join us at 10pm ET for a Q&A. I am so excited to discuss this book with you.
See you tonight!
I missed the chat last night (took my very Italian cousin out for Thai food after going to her honors ceremony at Northeastern, on the NW side of Chicago, so I feel like my evening fit the theme of the book).
Really enjoyed reading the chat, especially Marie and Heidi’s comments. Love that this started out as a fun book, not a want to publish book (think another book chat book, Sorcery and Cecelia, started out as something fun to write too).
As a Chicagoan, I think they captured the city pretty well – there were a couple errors that took me out of the story (city councilor instead of alderman is the one I remember right now) but for non-Chicagoans, they seemed to “get” it – especially the el / taxi rides and worrying about whether or not to take the car. I remember a lot of transit issues in my dating days.
I agree with some of the commenters that the ending was a little pat. I kind of felt like they rushed into marriage. I didn’t have a good sense of how much time passed in the book – I couldn’t tell how long they were together before the proposal – anyone have a better sense of that?
I see Vin as a Mark Wahlberg type. I liked the cover before I read the book – something about the direct gaze of the dark haired model is really hot (agree about the Photoshoppy quality though) but neither character looks right for the book.
