Once Burned: Win a Firepit. No, Really.

Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost We have a silly crazy giveaway today to celebrate the upcoming release of Jeaniene Frost's Once Burned ( A | BN | K | S ). Because Once Burned features a heroine who can channel electricity, and a vampire hero who can control fire, we're giving away FIRE. Specifically, a fire pit!

Cue me saying, 'FIRE! FIRE!' Also “YES, I WANT S'MORES.”

Alas, no smores or fire for me, but s'mores and fire for you!

FIRE FIRE FIRE PIT!The Grand Prize is a 40″ fire pit with a copper fire bowl, a removable screen, and a mosaic tile rim. It's about 65 pounds, it's very pretty, and if you throw some wood in it, you can make s'mores.

S'mores are indeed included, too. The grand prize winner will also receive a gourmet s'mores kit from Recchiuti Confections that includes vanilla marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate and graham crackers.

And since you'll be stuffed from eating s'mores and keeping your feet warm, you can read books! Jeaniene Frost's backlist is part of the prize. The winner will also receive a copy of Once Burned, plus:

  • HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE
  • ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE
  • AT GRAVE’S END
  • DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE
  • THIS SIDE OF THE GRAVE
  • ONE GRAVE AT A TIME
  • FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON
  • ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS

One lucky runner up will win Eternal Kiss of Darkness and First Drop of Crimson, and a Recchiuti s'mores kit.

What to enter? Craving s'mores (I so am, holy smoke)? All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite thing to cook outside, whether it's on the grill, over an open fire, in the bug zapper or inside the hot engine of your car. The grand prize and the runner up will be chosen at random from the comments.

Standard disclaimers apply: Must be over 18 and wearing long pants to win. Void where prohibited. This giveaway is open to international residents, but please note: the firepit is only shippable within the contiguous US, so the firepit giveaway is open to US residents only. However, if a winner from outside the US is chosen, he or she is eligible for an American Express giftcard for an amount equal to the price of the firepit ($300US). I'm not being compensated for this giveaway by Avon or by the Federation of Awesome S'mores. I like s'mores. Any disclaimer issued by me is subject to silliness without notice.

So, let's get fire cooking! You've got 24 hours to tell me what you like to cook outside. Good luck!

  3. Bethany1113 says:

Well, before I became a vegetarian, I loved cooking steak!  So delicious!  Now, I eat this meat substitute stuff that’s actually very good. 🙂

  4. Monique says:

I love it when my mom barbecues squid. It is so effing good!!

Thanks for this great summer giveaway.

  5. Yshepherd says:

Hmmmm….depends. If its on an open fire, hot dogs are my fave!!  If we are talking about grilling, that would be steak!!! Love the prize choice!! Goes well with the book theme!

  6. OMGBBQ! Give me babyback ribs and s’mores any day! I am really looking forward to this book! (Yes, have it pre-ordered. :D)

  7. HOLYAWESOMECONTEST!! Thank you!

My favorite thing is still burgers on the grill. Or hot dogs. Had to go with classic favorites. 🙂

  8. JMT says:

Take a really good Amana beef steak and grill to medium rare. Yum

  9. Janella says:

I love portobello mushrooms on the grill!  With just a little olive oil, and served with sauteed onions.  Yum!

  10. Beth says:

Marshmallows.  Classic, but the best.  Charred if eaten plain.  Lightly toasted if it’s going in a s’more.  YUM!

  11. Elizabeth H. says:

    Good, old-fashioned burger : )

  12. wisemouse says:

S’mores are my absolute favorite – but I also enjoy big juicy grilled hamburgers.  And Iowa makes some pretty darn good bratwurst.

  13. Olivia Knott says:

    S’mores

  14. Lynda says:

I love to make smores soft tacos. They are soft taco shells with peanut butter and chocolate bars and marshmallows. Toasted on the grill and enjoy!

  15. Stottsie says:

Mmmm grilled steak w/ zucchini drizzled w/ olive oil & Mrs. Dash garlic & herbs.  Yum, yum.  Then roast (set on fire) marshmallows over the pit, with a Smirnoff Ice.  That’s the end to a great night.

  16. Tiny skewers with lots of veggies on them – peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, corn and even pineapple – very yummy! I love grilled sweetcorn on the cob, and I love slightly melted cheese or marshmallows… I have a sudden craving for marshmallows, gotta buy some asap 😉

  17. Edica_esqueda says:

    Asparagus wrapped w/ prosciutto…yummmmmo!

  18. Amy T says:

garlic and herb diced Potatoes, in there own foil packets!

  19. Croceon says:

Since I’m not the biggest fan of grilled meat, I’ll have to go with bread on a stick. (Sorry for that, but I’m obviously not a native speaker and google didn’t give me a better translation for Stockbrot^^)

  20. Brandiwyne77 says:

Nothing like yams or sweet potatoes cooked under the ashes of a good flame….Peel back they skins, add some sweet butter and its the best evah! Memories of a Southern grandma.

  21. Angeline Deslandes says:

Bacon wrapped filet mignon 🙂 yumm.

  22. Metuton says:

I really enjoyed making a delicious zucchini artichoke dip in the car for a two hour drive using a crock pot plugged into the lighter adapter. Procrastinators Delight!

  23. KatVickers says:

I love Corn on the cob cooked in the husk. Something warm and sweet to sink your teeth into.

  24. Njtodd56 says:

I love to cook hamburgers outside.

  25. My guys love a thick well season New York Strip steak; me, I prefer (well I am from the south) a moist sweet and tangy boneless chicken breast from the grill.  My best friend taught me a trick for chicken; slower temp and every time you flip it coat it with butter, and it is the BOMB!  FYI, no my friend isn’t Paula Deen.  LOL!  Regina

  26. Kimberly Brock says:

    Pizza on the grill!

  27. Kiera says:

I love to grill corn outdoors. I shuck the ears, marinate them in Italian dressing overnight, then wrap them back up in some of the shucked leaves (and tie them off with another) and grill them. Your cooking time will vary depending on whether or not your grill has a lid you can close. Generally I won’t even feel the need to add butter, they are so tasty!

  28. Jen Hill says:

My husband makes really good BBQ Chicken and Delicious Rare Steak!! YUM, YUM!

  29. Kensvel says:

Corn dogs are great on the bbq.

  30. sara marshall-crysler says:

Good ole fashion burgers with swiss cheese in the middle

  31. Sleepnbeauty76 says:

    Carne asada, yum!!! 😛

  32. Wynonatilton says:

Fresh Copper River salmon sprinkled with lemon, grey sea salt and fresh herbs!

  33. LibrarianJessi says:

You found my weakness with the s’mores – with a big juicy steak a close second.

  34. Kathryn Albert says:

Oooooh S’mores!!! They are my favorite, but followed by a narrow margin by goat!

  35. ilex says:

Not very original, but I have to say marshmallows. So good. SO GOOD. Gah, now I want.

  36. Andrea says:

hmm, no open fire/grill for me usually (I live in an apartment in a big city…) But when I visit my father this one shop sells great vegetarian stuff: zucchini wrapped around some kind of cheese and around an olive with cherry tomatoes in between. yum! But what I love most is not the grilled stuff but the bread! Then I am always glad I live here (Germany) b/c we have the better bread… 😉 But I do remember s´mores! I haven’t had any in a really long time and would LOVE to have some.

  37. Megmegp says:

I gotta go with s’mores.  And hot dogs.  And that thing where you put a banana in a foil packet with marshmallows and chocolate.  and grilled fruit. and…

  38. Rij says:

Onions. Big dry onions. No need to prepare them, just stick them on the grill. When the outside is black, the insides will be baked to perfection.

Also halloumi cheese, corn on the cob, mushrooms stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon… Thank God I just ate before opening the computer.

  39. wildchild1954 says:

I love to grill a nice T-bone with corn on the cob.  Wrap the corn in foil and grill it right along with the steak and then drown in it butter and salt.  Okay, I’m heading outside to the grill right now.

  40. V Scott says:

Bratwurst, s’mores and other stick-friendly food.  Yes, I like grilled stuff but, there is something about the charred taste of a stick-cooked food that makes for a good cookout.  I will also accept a foil-wrapped potato.

I just found a recipe for campfire doughnuts.  Wrap biscuit dough around the end of a stick, cook over fire and then roll in sugar.  I might have to try that one.
