We have a silly crazy giveaway today to celebrate the upcoming release of Jeaniene Frost's Once Burned ( A | BN | K | S ). Because Once Burned features a heroine who can channel electricity, and a vampire hero who can control fire, we're giving away FIRE. Specifically, a fire pit!
Cue me saying, 'FIRE! FIRE!' Also “YES, I WANT S'MORES.”
Alas, no smores or fire for me, but s'mores and fire for you!
The Grand Prize is a 40″ fire pit with a copper fire bowl, a removable screen, and a mosaic tile rim. It's about 65 pounds, it's very pretty, and if you throw some wood in it, you can make s'mores.
S'mores are indeed included, too. The grand prize winner will also receive a gourmet s'mores kit from Recchiuti Confections that includes vanilla marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate and graham crackers.
And since you'll be stuffed from eating s'mores and keeping your feet warm, you can read books! Jeaniene Frost's backlist is part of the prize. The winner will also receive a copy of Once Burned, plus:
- HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE
- ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE
- AT GRAVE’S END
- DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE
- THIS SIDE OF THE GRAVE
- ONE GRAVE AT A TIME
- FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON
- ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS
One lucky runner up will win Eternal Kiss of Darkness and First Drop of Crimson, and a Recchiuti s'mores kit.
What to enter? Craving s'mores (I so am, holy smoke)? All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite thing to cook outside, whether it's on the grill, over an open fire, in the bug zapper or inside the hot engine of your car. The grand prize and the runner up will be chosen at random from the comments.
Standard disclaimers apply: Must be over 18 and wearing long pants to win. Void where prohibited. This giveaway is open to international residents, but please note: the firepit is only shippable within the contiguous US, so the firepit giveaway is open to US residents only. However, if a winner from outside the US is chosen, he or she is eligible for an American Express giftcard for an amount equal to the price of the firepit ($300US). I'm not being compensated for this giveaway by Avon or by the Federation of Awesome S'mores. I like s'mores. Any disclaimer issued by me is subject to silliness without notice.
So, let's get fire cooking! You've got 24 hours to tell me what you like to cook outside. Good luck!

My favorite thing to cook outside is definitely S’mores—I just had some at my nieces graduation party—sooo good!!! But the best thing was when my sister and I were little we would go camping with my grandparents and my Grandpop would build a fire and we would have what my Nannie called “mountain pies”—basically any kind of sandwich put in this cool press thingy and held over the fire—like grilled cheese but over a camp fire!! So good and the memories of that are awesome too!!! 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win!!

My dad used to barbeque the most awesome chicken over the coals of a wood fire. That taste of wood smoke in the chicken…YUM! (Sadly, he now has a gas grill.)
Grilled sweet potatoes, grilled peaches , grilled pineapples with Grilled Chicken
Tandoori chicken, grilled over open coal fire, with a side of naan bread and rayta will always be one of my favorite things to eat.
I like to cook hot dogs over a fire. Nothing quite like it!
🙂 Ha! Am loving this give away and the question! After having just spent four years cooking everything outside (we were building a house and living in a camper with no stove)…I have to admit this was actually a little tough to decide. Apple dumplings in a dutch oven. Salmon on the grill. And yes, marshmallows over a fire.
My Family and I love grilling out on charcoal! We’ll cook Feta & Tapinade stuffed burgers, Fresh Corn out of the Gardens, Some salmon, Garlic or teryiaki chicken, and many other things!!!
Holy moly what a great giveaway! My DH has learned a lot in his years as an official BBQ judge and as a result makes the best BBQ ribs EVAH. (He has always wanted a firepit and this would make a great welcome-home-from-the-hospital surprise.) Also, there is nothing better than crispy pancakes hot off the campstove on a chilly morning in the mountains.
I’m all about s’mores! Whether it’s over a fire or over the stove. I <3 them.
My favorite thing to cook outside is Buffalo Wings on the grill…The spicy flavor plus smokey flavor from grill tastes oh so yummy!Especially with a cold beer to chase it down.
Sausages! mmmmmm. Though I always wanted to try marshmallows
I have to go with grilled okra brushed with sesame oil and sprinkled with sea salt. It’s amazing, and everyone I offer it to is always surprised to discover that okra is tasty. Second favorite is grilled fruit of some sort with a rum-glaze. Mmm, dessert on fire.
I love grilled salmon on the bbq. I know know! I’m weird like that. But smores come in a close second. Awesome giveaway! Thanks for hosting!
Salty Salty chicken wings!! So delicious/satisfying/crunchy/full of yum.
My favorite thing to cook outdoors is grilled eggplant.
Burgers are so delish.
Hots and hamburgers.
I love grilled corn on the cob and portabello/gouda stuffed burgers from Fresh Market. Nom nom nom!
S’mores sound great. My favorite for outdoor cooking is hamburgers.
Best thing to cook outdoors is – hands down – bratwurst. Boiled in beer on the stove until they’re bursting with delicious flavor and then tossed on the grill to be blackened to perfection. Nothing says summer like bratwurst on the grill.
I make a really good veggie shishkabob (is that how you spell it??) on the outdoor bbq. I use chunks of carrot, cauliflower, squash, and sometimes either eggplant (when its on sale) and cucumber. I drizzle a little safflower and olive oil and a variety of spices: garlic, paprika, curry, oregano, parsley and sprinkle of Herbamare.
Asparagus! Right on the grill, with a little salt, pepper, and olive oil.
Also My sister and I have never had s’mores!
Burgers over an open fire while camping. Best meal ever!!
Love that firepit!
We like to do thin-cut marinated chicken on skewers out on the grill. Yum!
Do you know what’s almost as good as smores? Roast a marshmallow and then squish it between two chocolate chip cookies. Yum, yum, yum! Had to get creative one night when we didn’t have chocolate or graham crackers but did have cookies.
P.S. i am rolling my capris down so that they qualify as long pants.
What I really like are freshly grilled shish kabobs with beef and lots of fresh vegetables.
my husband makes the BEST hamburgers—i can’t cook a meal outside, but I’m sure handy w a stick and a marshmallow 🙂
I like to make peach crisp out on the grill.
Nothing better than shrimp or lobster on the BBQ with lots of buttah!
Hotdogs are only good when cooked outside (fire or bbq). FACT.
So I’m from Wisconsin, and I love me a good brat on the grill…..but a close runner up is grilled eggplant. Mmmmmmmmmm and I know what I’m having for dinner now!
Salmon on a cedar plank! Totally melts in your mouth
By some odd coincidence, my favorite thing to cook outdoors is s’mores. And that firepit would be perfect at my house.
Oysters on the half shell on the grill at the beach. So yummy, so fun!
I like a nice think slab of cow, preferably in a steak form. I almost never have beef in any other form, so having some grilled over a fire is always a special treat.
Marinated Ribeyes and steamed veggies fresh from the garden. This grill will get a work out.
Grilled veggies! Specifically grilled slices of eggplant topped with a tomato slice and cheese!
Hot dogs over an open fire. It reminds me of camping when I was a kid.
I like tri-tip with a fabulous bbq sauce and throwing on some asparagus. (That particular veggie I will only eat if it’s been grilled)
