We have a silly crazy giveaway today to celebrate the upcoming release of Jeaniene Frost's Once Burned ( A | BN | K | S ). Because Once Burned features a heroine who can channel electricity, and a vampire hero who can control fire, we're giving away FIRE. Specifically, a fire pit!
Cue me saying, 'FIRE! FIRE!' Also “YES, I WANT S'MORES.”
Alas, no smores or fire for me, but s'mores and fire for you!
The Grand Prize is a 40″ fire pit with a copper fire bowl, a removable screen, and a mosaic tile rim. It's about 65 pounds, it's very pretty, and if you throw some wood in it, you can make s'mores.
S'mores are indeed included, too. The grand prize winner will also receive a gourmet s'mores kit from Recchiuti Confections that includes vanilla marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate and graham crackers.
And since you'll be stuffed from eating s'mores and keeping your feet warm, you can read books! Jeaniene Frost's backlist is part of the prize. The winner will also receive a copy of Once Burned, plus:
- HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE
- ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE
- AT GRAVE’S END
- DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE
- THIS SIDE OF THE GRAVE
- ONE GRAVE AT A TIME
- FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON
- ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS
One lucky runner up will win Eternal Kiss of Darkness and First Drop of Crimson, and a Recchiuti s'mores kit.
What to enter? Craving s'mores (I so am, holy smoke)? All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite thing to cook outside, whether it's on the grill, over an open fire, in the bug zapper or inside the hot engine of your car. The grand prize and the runner up will be chosen at random from the comments.
Standard disclaimers apply: Must be over 18 and wearing long pants to win. Void where prohibited. This giveaway is open to international residents, but please note: the firepit is only shippable within the contiguous US, so the firepit giveaway is open to US residents only. However, if a winner from outside the US is chosen, he or she is eligible for an American Express giftcard for an amount equal to the price of the firepit ($300US). I'm not being compensated for this giveaway by Avon or by the Federation of Awesome S'mores. I like s'mores. Any disclaimer issued by me is subject to silliness without notice.
So, let's get fire cooking! You've got 24 hours to tell me what you like to cook outside. Good luck!

I always wanted a firepit! I like making smores with my kids, after eating Costco steak my husband BBQs! Perfect night at home w/family and my dogs. 🙂
Chicken wings, marinated in either Italian dressing or in Saucy Susan (which is kind of like duck sauce). YUM!
S’mores of course.
I like to grill fish. That way the house doesn’t get stinky when I burn them.
Chicken Shishkabobs with tomato, onion, porta bella mushrooms, pepper, marinated in teriyaki sauce/
Rib eye cooked rare.
I love shrimp wraps cooked on the grill, they are really good!!!
Hot Dogs! Either on a grill or on a stick over an open fire – yum! Followed by Banana Boats for dessert (leave banana in skin, slice down one long side, but chocolate squares & mini-marshmallows in slit, wrap all in foil, place over or near heat).
My childhood friend’s mother used to make the best french toast when we went camping. I don’t know why it tasted better than the kind she made in her kitchen, but it did.
I really love shrimp on the grill. Just pop ‘em on a skewer, slather in BBQ sauce, and in short order you’ve got a super delicious treat!
Seafood kebabs.
Swordfish kebabs are my favorites!
chicken marinated in “Soy Vay veri veri teriyaki” marinade. The ginger caramelizes on the grill.
Grilled corn on the cob or if it’s a campfire, or firepit, flaming marshmallows! 🙂 Wow I am so looking forward to Vlad’s story! What a great prize. TY for the chance to win and now I’m craving Smores, too! lol
I loved grilled hot dogs! Well, I just love hot dogs in general, but grilling makes them better.
Andouille sausage and grilled veggies!
Bananas foster on a wood-fired grill or fire pit. That extra smokiness to the bananas is just heavenly. Pardon my drool and wanton dessert lust.
I love to cook outdoors. Pretty much anything is fair game, especially in the summer.
Nothing beats a good ribeye steak, baked potatoes with butter and sour cream and a nice salad
I love grilling corn on the cob – oh, and grilled shrimp are the bomb! And as a former girl scout and a lifelong camper, s’mores are a MUST!
What do I like to cook outside? Well, not myself. Give me shade, lots of shade (and the starry skies above …). Does that make me a vampire?
My quickest and easiest side when my husband is grilling meat: cut various colors of bell peppers into thick strips. Place in foil packets and cover with light italian dressing. Grill about 5 minutes on each side. Yum!
Steaks on the grill and hot dogs as well
Oddly enough – S’mores. I like my marshmellows on the burnt side. That is the only way I like marshmellows.
I am a true blue indigenous Seattleite, so of course grilled coho SALMON encrusted with herbs…. and wine from Chateau-Ste-Michelle of course!
I love fresh peaches and cream corn grilled on… anything hot. Slathered in butter or not, it’s sweet and delicious. Mmmm.
The absolutely best thing to cook over a fire is foil-wrapped bananas sandwiched between Mars Bars. The combination of melty banana, caramel, chocolate and nougat is OMFG worth every calorie.
It’s like Fate has made this contest. I just found out yesterday that my best friend has never roasted marshmallows or hot dogs over a campfire. She loves chocolate goodness and never had a s’more. She told me that the only s’more she has ever had was a s’more flavored Pop Tart. For the love of all that burns, I want to win this fire pit so I can give it to her as a gift (along with a bag of marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate).
Turkey & Vegetable Kebabs marinated in a mango chutney: totally delicious!!!
I love Bananas Foster. And my favorite way to make it is on the grill! Flambé, baby!
Grilled tomatoes (for my son who thinks they’re a treat), a hamburger – medium (for my husband), and a Nathan’s hot dog with grilled onions (for me)!
Lamb meatballs!
Burgers, please.
My Great Uncle Lloyd taught me how to cook Cajun jambalaya on an outdoor gas cooker using a welded paddle… You know it’s a good recipe when it starts with, “Pop open your favorite beer cause you gonna be here a while”!
I’ve really never grilled before…the one time we attempted it, I had to show my husband how to make a charcoal pyramid (which I learned from watching my Dad) and the burgers came out edible, but singed and dry. I’m much better at perfectly roasted marshmallows!
bananas sliced open, stuffed with chocolate chips, wrapped in tinfoil and warmed over an open fire. yummy!
Anything I can cook in a Dutch oven- lasagna, dump cake, etc. I love the prep work involved in charcoal cooking, but then I can relax while the food is actually cooking. When DH is cooking, it’s a tossup between his grilled steak and grilled salmon recipes- YUM.
I love to cook asparagus on the grill. And salmon. And ALL OF THE THINGS, really. Everything tastes better grilled. Except cake. I’m pretty sure BBQ’d cake is crap.
Veggie brat, sauteed in BBQ sauce and then cooked till the grill marks sizzle.
Ahi (tuna) is ono (good) in the emu (fire).
