We have a silly crazy giveaway today to celebrate the upcoming release of Jeaniene Frost's Once Burned ( A | BN | K | S ). Because Once Burned features a heroine who can channel electricity, and a vampire hero who can control fire, we're giving away FIRE. Specifically, a fire pit!
Cue me saying, 'FIRE! FIRE!' Also “YES, I WANT S'MORES.”
Alas, no smores or fire for me, but s'mores and fire for you!
The Grand Prize is a 40″ fire pit with a copper fire bowl, a removable screen, and a mosaic tile rim. It's about 65 pounds, it's very pretty, and if you throw some wood in it, you can make s'mores.
S'mores are indeed included, too. The grand prize winner will also receive a gourmet s'mores kit from Recchiuti Confections that includes vanilla marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate and graham crackers.
And since you'll be stuffed from eating s'mores and keeping your feet warm, you can read books! Jeaniene Frost's backlist is part of the prize. The winner will also receive a copy of Once Burned, plus:
- HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE
- ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE
- AT GRAVE’S END
- DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE
- THIS SIDE OF THE GRAVE
- ONE GRAVE AT A TIME
- FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON
- ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS
One lucky runner up will win Eternal Kiss of Darkness and First Drop of Crimson, and a Recchiuti s'mores kit.
What to enter? Craving s'mores (I so am, holy smoke)? All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite thing to cook outside, whether it's on the grill, over an open fire, in the bug zapper or inside the hot engine of your car. The grand prize and the runner up will be chosen at random from the comments.
Standard disclaimers apply: Must be over 18 and wearing long pants to win. Void where prohibited. This giveaway is open to international residents, but please note: the firepit is only shippable within the contiguous US, so the firepit giveaway is open to US residents only. However, if a winner from outside the US is chosen, he or she is eligible for an American Express giftcard for an amount equal to the price of the firepit ($300US). I'm not being compensated for this giveaway by Avon or by the Federation of Awesome S'mores. I like s'mores. Any disclaimer issued by me is subject to silliness without notice.
So, let's get fire cooking! You've got 24 hours to tell me what you like to cook outside. Good luck!

Plain marshmallows. They always taste best after being basted in smoke!
My favorite thing to cook on the grill/smoker is baby back ribs. They come out SOOOOOOOOO good!
I would be home to cook whatever beast my man slew (cleaned and dressed – what does that even mean?) over a fire made from wood I sent my four cats out to chop from our sylvan forest…
But, given he doesn’t hunt, and the cats don’t do a darn thing around the house, and we live on a cliff, I have a nice pork tenderloin ready and I will serve it grilled in cracked herbs and spices. On the side we’ll have grilled broccolini and fresh peas (steamed not grilled). I may also grill some peaches.

Marshmallows. The chocolate and graham crackers are just a bonus. Give me a fork and a bag of marshmallows and I am happy. I want them charred on the outside…I should be putting out a fire.
Ooh that looks like it could make some awesome smores.
Salmon is my favorite grilled food. I marinate it in Paul Newman’s Italian dressing for about 15 minutes first.
There are just too many foods I like grilled to choose from. Zucchini, pineapple, steak…
Hamburgers with a Smores chaser.
I love to grill steaks and ribs! There’s nothing like that aroma coming out of the grill.
I love to grill steaks and asparagus. Then drizzle with a little bit of butter… Mmmm!
This is a really great giveaway!
Bratwurst with a smore chaser 🙂
I love grilled mushrooms!
I like to make s’mores using oreos instead of graham crackers. YUM! I also make stickless kabobs on the grill by putting everything in a disposable foil pan.
Oh, and I skip the chocolate in my oreo s’mores.
I’m a pastry nut, so I like putting a Dutch oven right into the fire and baking with it. Pies come out wonderfully. 🙂
S’mores are my favorite!
I totally love to make mini-pizzas over an open fire! We use the sandwich makers aka hobo pie makers. Butter up some bread put some sauce and cheese along with you favorite toppings and voila you have pizza over the fire! Yum, now I’m hungry and need to go raid my fridge…
My family loves making banana smores in our fire pit. Take a banan make a slit in the middle and stuff with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and crushed graham crackers. Wrap in foil and set on side of coals for about 3 minutes. So easy and delicious!
I’m super boring and just liked grilled zucchini!
SMORES. I have been forcing myself away from the graham crackers, hershey bars, and bags of mellows in the store… but calories don’t count if you win them right?
oh man I love grilling steak and ribs on a grill. YUM!
I love grilled pineapple!!!!!
I love having Korean BBQ. All that marinaded meaty goodness with some kimchee…Yum! 😛
I love to cook flank steak on the grill. Then serve with grilled onions and peppers.
Chicken thighs marinated in italian dressing. Sounds a little weird, but soooo goood
Pineapple! Seems weird but is totally yummy.
I love just about anything cooked outside. I think everything tastes better on the grill or campfire. My favorite thing to cook are bar-b-que ribs with baked potatoes and of course S’mores for dessert. Yum. Thanks for the giveaway.
Tri-tip! Yum yum… if only I had a backyard.
Okay. I am just getting back into cooking in the kitchen, but I love, love, love a guacamole burger from my friends grill. So delicious. Bonus – I don’t have to do any clean up. 🙂
Chicken kabobs with a foil packet of oil-drizzled, salt, and pepper cherry tomatoes! Yum!
Hot dogs, because they’re delicious (and just about the only thing I can actually barbecue).
Grilled pineapple. Tasty, delicious, and awesome on a charcoal grill.
I have been grilling practically every other day since it warmed up enough to stay outside and grill in our area. I usually make grilled boneless skinless chicken breasts but vary the marinades (my fav is my own creation and leaves them super moist, flavorful, and juicy!). I’ve grilled everything from corn to cornbread (yes, you can make cornbread on a grill). My favorite thing to grill is a prime cut of steak but since we be broke and I’m only able to eat red meat sparingly any more (GERD sucks) I have to settle for the chicken breasts or some other kind of poultry or fish (fish on the grill is good too if you don’t cook it too long lol). That firepit is beautiful and I’d love to win it, would have to give the chocolate to my hubby and boys because that is one more thing I am not allowed to have but they could fight me for the marshmallows and grahams 😉
I can bake, but cooking largely evades me. Have to go with ye olde hot dogs on a grill.
Asparagus, squash – any appropriate vegetable. Only way to get my husband to eat his veggies. We also love shrimp on the grill.
I am not a grilller, so I’ll just stick with the gourmet s’mores.
Steak, hamburgers… any meat will do!
wow, competition is fierce. post-hotdogs (for the pre-schooler), we grill mango and pineapple. good stuff.
I’ve really gotten into grilled pineapple, too! I’d love to grill some peaches to put over ice cream. Still, I can’t resist some good ol’ roast beast (my dad used to roast a whole lamb at Easter)…
Marshmallows!
