Once Burned: Win a Firepit. No, Really.

Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost We have a silly crazy giveaway today to celebrate the upcoming release of Jeaniene Frost's Once Burned ( A | BN | K | S ). Because Once Burned features a heroine who can channel electricity, and a vampire hero who can control fire, we're giving away FIRE. Specifically, a fire pit!

Cue me saying, 'FIRE! FIRE!' Also “YES, I WANT S'MORES.”

Alas, no smores or fire for me, but s'mores and fire for you!

FIRE FIRE FIRE PIT!The Grand Prize is a 40″ fire pit with a copper fire bowl, a removable screen, and a mosaic tile rim. It's about 65 pounds, it's very pretty, and if you throw some wood in it, you can make s'mores.

S'mores are indeed included, too. The grand prize winner will also receive a gourmet s'mores kit from Recchiuti Confections that includes vanilla marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate and graham crackers.

And since you'll be stuffed from eating s'mores and keeping your feet warm, you can read books! Jeaniene Frost's backlist is part of the prize. The winner will also receive a copy of Once Burned, plus:

  • HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE
  • ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE
  • AT GRAVE’S END
  • DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE
  • THIS SIDE OF THE GRAVE
  • ONE GRAVE AT A TIME
  • FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON
  • ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS

One lucky runner up will win Eternal Kiss of Darkness and First Drop of Crimson, and a Recchiuti s'mores kit.

What to enter? Craving s'mores (I so am, holy smoke)? All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite thing to cook outside, whether it's on the grill, over an open fire, in the bug zapper or inside the hot engine of your car. The grand prize and the runner up will be chosen at random from the comments.

Standard disclaimers apply: Must be over 18 and wearing long pants to win. Void where prohibited. This giveaway is open to international residents, but please note: the firepit is only shippable within the contiguous US, so the firepit giveaway is open to US residents only. However, if a winner from outside the US is chosen, he or she is eligible for an American Express giftcard for an amount equal to the price of the firepit ($300US). I'm not being compensated for this giveaway by Avon or by the Federation of Awesome S'mores. I like s'mores. Any disclaimer issued by me is subject to silliness without notice.

So, let's get fire cooking! You've got 24 hours to tell me what you like to cook outside. Good luck!

Hamburgers made in the smoker.  Add BBQ sauce and some cheddar and mmmmm.

  2. Colleen McKnight says:

Steak, taters & corn on the cob…yummylishes!

  3. Plu says:

Vegetable skewers. Vegetables are best when cooked on the grill.

  4. Turophile says:

Lots of things I like to heat up outdoors, but if you’re looking for a food substance I’d say Pizza on the grill.

  5. riwally says:

Fiiiire!!  Fiiiire!! Fire it up!!!  Gimme, gimme, gimme….fiiiire.  As I’m a complete and utter klutz around a grill, I leave the ggggrrriiiilling to my son,but I really luuuvvv grilled chicken *lip smack*.

  6. Connie Cox says:

Hamburger, wrapped in foil and roasted in the coals, Girl Scout-style, is my favorite.

  7. Sandra says:

    Steak, rare…..

Haven’t read all the comments, but my first thought when seeing the teaser, was this was a cover snark article. That’s a really unfortunate placement of the AVON logo on the cover. Jock itch of the armpit, maybe?

  8. EliG says:

Fish.  Salmon preferred, in an aluminium foil “boat” layered with sliced sweet onions and sliced bell peppers of any kind, a bit of pepper and some pats of butter, a little drizzle of really good olive oil.  We always leave salt to the individuals preference, but the flavor that comes off the peppers and onions. Yum.  Same thing works for sturgeon or halibut. Simple flavors.

  9. donna ann says:

bbq country pork ribs, yummy & a summer-time only treat 🙂

  10. Marshmallows, either for s’mores or alone. Next would be vegetarian burgers and hot dogs. Yummy!

  11. daffiney says:

I love grilling corn in the husk. I don’t know how it happens, but it ends up tasting like corn candy. (But not candy corn.)

  12. Sarah says:

Wow, what an awesome giveaway to go with some great books!! You all have outdone yourself.

S’mores are at the top of my list, but a close second is hobo haystacks and hobo stew. Something about an open fire makes them that much better!

  13. Terrie says:

Corn on the cob—buttered and then wrapped in aluminum foil.  Wonderful!

  14. Patty Lee says:

Love to grill!! Ribs and steaks!!

  15. Graniagrace says:

Hot dogs.  There have been over 60 years of annual wienie roasts in my family… over a bonfire, in the fall, with baked beans in a dutch oven on a tripod, and s’mores for desert.  And I hail from the midwest, land of bizarre and freakish jello salads.  Yep, the annual family potluck.  About the only time I eat hot dogs, but they are really good when cooked over the bonfire.

  16. Corn on the Cob. It has a different flavor when prepared on the grill. Delicious!

  17. Tam says:

Portobello mushrooms, with blue cheese crumbled on top when they’re done. and sweet onions.

  18. Tracy says:

Sausages on the campfire are favorites of ours.

  19. Allie says:

Flank steak and bell peppers for fajita night!

  20. Leanna says:

Definitely s’mores.  The gooey marshmallow, melted chocolate, and crunchy graham cracker is a delicious combination.

  21. Elle says:

I love doing freshly caught fish in a smoker. We just learnt how to turn it into a pate thing so I’ve been eating that on toast for the last week.

  22. Simba says:

Lightly seared Porterhouse, drizzled with Cajun Power garlic sauce, via the awesome charcoal skills of my sweetheart. Mmm, the last of the leftovers are tomorrow’s lunch.

  23. Julieid says:

I like chicken breasts and zucchini on the grill.

  24. PEEPS!!!!! Not only is it sugary marshmallow goodness BUT it is fun to melt the bunnies and chicks LOL And There is nothing like a Peep S’more

  25. Lindsay Sprung says:

Cook outside?  You mean with bugs and everything?  Kidding, right?  I like the idea of firepits, though, to keep away bears, ghosts, and pirates.

  26. ReneeK says:

Fresh Keilbasa! Simmered in a beer bath, grilled and smothered in spicy mustard and sauerkraut.  Mmmmm.

  27. Love grilled corn with lemon pepper.  Then smores for dessert.

  28. Indra Blackthorne says:

Ribeyes and bratwurst, put some barbeque chicken on there too.

  29. Cynthia says:

    a whole chicken…with lots of smoke….

  30. pur8ple says:

Slices or chunks of grilled videlia onions. I can eat an embarrassing number at one sitting.

  31. CombsyFoot says:

I’m from Gold Coast, Australia so we practically cook everything outside on the Barbie! MMM… nothing beats grilled butternut pumpkin with melted butter, some snags and carmelized onions on top.

  32. Wendy Cheairs says:

Outside cooking I think I will have to go with Steaks. I cook then inside and they taste fine but for some reason outside always seem to taste so much better. Along with some asparagus are wonderful grilled.

  33. RJ says:

Pita.  I have fond memories of makining pita at camp and cooking it over an open fire.  Not the tastiest, but fun never the less

  34. Erika Hawkyard says:

Marshmallows are must, polish hot dogs are always welcome but my hands down favorite would have to be grilled pears and/or peaches, they taste awesome by them selves and even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream 8D.

  35. ksattler says:

My favorite thing to cook over an open fire would be marshmallows.  To grill, I love sweet corn, BBQ chicken, brats, burgers, steak…hmm besides the corn, I think it is safe to say “meat.”

    Awesome give away!

  36. Lizzi says:

I can not eat enough grilled pineapple.  It’s ok raw – but grilled I can practically eat my weight in it.

  37. Maryellen says:

    Burgers and smores of course!

  38. ToppysMom says:

Does myself count? I love soaking up the sun. Failing that … I do sun dry tomatoes and other veggies. I **do** barbecue but most people would tell you that I do it badly, sigh.

  39. LisaCharlotte says:

Beef satay on skewers. Have tried to cook in the oven and on the stovetop but it’s not the same. Served with Thai peanut sauce. Best recipe I ever got online (from seriouseats.com).

  40. Jean Lamb says:

My husband does the grilling. T-Bone steak from a place where it’s grass-fed and no antibiotics, with potatoes wrapped in foil in the side compartment. He once grilled steaks for an hour and a half during the middle of a blizzard (local Jaycees New Year’s Eve party). Only the BBQ and the rum kept him warm. Ok, I helped. <g></g>
