Once Burned: Win a Firepit. No, Really.

Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost We have a silly crazy giveaway today to celebrate the upcoming release of Jeaniene Frost's Once Burned ( A | BN | K | S ). Because Once Burned features a heroine who can channel electricity, and a vampire hero who can control fire, we're giving away FIRE. Specifically, a fire pit!

Cue me saying, 'FIRE! FIRE!' Also “YES, I WANT S'MORES.”

Alas, no smores or fire for me, but s'mores and fire for you!

FIRE FIRE FIRE PIT!The Grand Prize is a 40″ fire pit with a copper fire bowl, a removable screen, and a mosaic tile rim. It's about 65 pounds, it's very pretty, and if you throw some wood in it, you can make s'mores.

S'mores are indeed included, too. The grand prize winner will also receive a gourmet s'mores kit from Recchiuti Confections that includes vanilla marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate and graham crackers.

And since you'll be stuffed from eating s'mores and keeping your feet warm, you can read books! Jeaniene Frost's backlist is part of the prize. The winner will also receive a copy of Once Burned, plus:

  • HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE
  • ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE
  • AT GRAVE’S END
  • DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE
  • THIS SIDE OF THE GRAVE
  • ONE GRAVE AT A TIME
  • FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON
  • ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS

One lucky runner up will win Eternal Kiss of Darkness and First Drop of Crimson, and a Recchiuti s'mores kit.

What to enter? Craving s'mores (I so am, holy smoke)? All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite thing to cook outside, whether it's on the grill, over an open fire, in the bug zapper or inside the hot engine of your car. The grand prize and the runner up will be chosen at random from the comments.

Standard disclaimers apply: Must be over 18 and wearing long pants to win. Void where prohibited. This giveaway is open to international residents, but please note: the firepit is only shippable within the contiguous US, so the firepit giveaway is open to US residents only. However, if a winner from outside the US is chosen, he or she is eligible for an American Express giftcard for an amount equal to the price of the firepit ($300US). I'm not being compensated for this giveaway by Avon or by the Federation of Awesome S'mores. I like s'mores. Any disclaimer issued by me is subject to silliness without notice.

So, let's get fire cooking! You've got 24 hours to tell me what you like to cook outside. Good luck!

  2. Becky Velez says:

Tin Foil with an ear of corn, a steak and mushrooms.

  3. Casey says:

Marshmellows! I LOVE marshmellows!! Toasted over an open fire until they’re all bown and gooey. Yummy.

  4. Starr-Dreamer says:

I’m kinda a traditionalist. First some onion burgers and/or hot dogs then Marshmallows. I <3 Marshmallows.

  5. Sarah says:

smores! Just can’t beat melty chocolate!

  6. Sarah W says:

Onions and garlic on the grill.  YUM—-and the scent is amazing!

  7. Diatryma says:

I am a big big fan of cheddar brats.  They are marvelously greasy.

  8. Hot dogs, they’re less flammable than marshmallows.

  9. Goat cheese rapped in bacon. bacon coes crunchy, outside of the cheese goes hard and smoked, inside runny.

  10. Algae429 says:

One year, I took bananas (in the peel), split down the middle and stuffed them with chocolate chips and marshmallows.  Wrap the thing in foil and grill for a few minutes…heavenly.

  11. also, grilled salmon stake with honey and mustard sauce, it caramelises. divine
a pain to take of the grill

  12. Megan says:

  15. girlygirlhoosier52 says:

While I’m always happy with burger, brats w/peppers & onions, steaks, chops… Try some stone fruit, halved and brushed with some honey…

  16. LadyB says:

Well, being from Australia, I can’t win the fire pit, but I would definitely say my favourite thing to cook outside would be lamb. Either lamb cutlets marinated in olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, garlic and rosemary, bbq’d until just pink and blushing, and you get a nice bone to gnaw on as well, or if we are being extravagant like we were for our engagement party, a whole lamb on a spit, slowly turning and being brushed with butter, lemon, butter, oregano and more butter. Standing around a fire, pulling bits of lamb off the spit at 1am, absolutely heavenly. You also can’t beat haloumi cheese, grilled till its nice and crispy on the outside!

  17. Beccajo says:

Grill jalapeños stuffed with cheddar cheese and wrapped in bacon

  18. If I’m cooking…hands down my safest bet is marshmallows and hotdogs…both of them charred, the marshmallow preferably having gone up in a flaming mass before consumption. The marshmallows get eaten first…then the hotdogs…after all dessert before dinner.

  19. Kabobs – chicken, pork, or beef with lots of veggies and pineapples all marinated in my hubby’s secret sauce.  um, um, good 🙂

  20. Vazquezy88 says:

Sausage is by far my favorite, but the best part is combining them with a warm ketchup w/ curry sauce for a delicious curryworst. It’s almost as good as what you can get in Germany, especially if you use really good sausage.

  21. Stephanie says:

I don’t cook outside, but I like to eat stuff that’s cooked outside. I think hot dogs off the grill tops the list. S’mores are second. Super yummy!

  22. Mayannie123 says:

I like to cook chili on the firepit..

  23. Klaody says:

I like to get cookin’ with my husband outside—does that count?  I know, I know, must keep those long pants on.  I also love grilling salmon with tons of brown sugar on a cedar plank.

  24. ChrisS says:

A favorite in my family is Cajun Angels. They are so easy to make with only 3 ingredients (large cleaned raw shrimp, bacon, cajun seasonings) and are always a BBQ hit. Wrap 1/2 slice of bacon around a large shrimp and skewer. I generally put 3 wrapped shrimp on each skewer. Sprinkle heavily with your favorite cajun seasoning. Our favorite is “Joe’s Stuff” from the New Orleans School of Cooking. Grill until bacon is cooked and enjoy!

  25. asianleo says:

What an awesome prize! And also a highly anticipated book for me.

I like throwing brisket or chicken on the grill if I cook outside. Grilled peaches with vanilla bean ice cream is quite tasty too.

  26. Kasandra61279 says:

Well I love to cook BBQ chicken, with a jack daniel’s BBQ sauce, It is totally AWESOME WITH A MARGARITA, and A good Jeanine Frost Book to read!!!!

  27. Grilled chicken, served with my mother’s recipe for macaroni salad.  And thanks to everyone for the great suggestions for dinner next week!  My menu planning is almost done!

  28. Rachel D says:

There is nothing like a good steak cooked to perfection out on the grill. Oh, summer, how I love you.

  29. Jennifer P says:

On the grill I like mojo chicken, but my favorite outdoor-cooked dish was introduced to me by my boy scout son – hobo packets.  Put a frozen hamburger patty on foil, surround it with cut up carrots and potatoes, add a little Dale’s or Beefy onion soup mix, fold it up, and toss it directly on burned-down coals or wood for 20-30 minutes; take it out (carefully, of course), unfold, and eat.  You can use whatever combo of meat, veggies, and spices you want. These are tasty at home but taste especially good while camping.

  30. Allison W says:

Fire pit?! that’s so cool. I was already excited about how awesome this book is gonna be be anyways! I like to cook smores, or chicken if I need real food.

  31. ShawnyJ says:

So far this summer I’m making awesome ribs on the BBQ, but I also really like grilled pizza.

  32. Stephanie T says:

I love grilled vegetables and meat, especially sausage! Bonus, since it’s extra fun to eat it in a suggestive manner 😉

  33. KarenF says:

Apartment dweller here, so I probably would not be able to do anything with the firepit, but I love me some s’mores.  And that would be my favorite thing to cook outside, aside from myself (slathered in SPF).

  34. Rjgid7 says:

    Kebobs with veggies and fruit.

  35. I love to cook corn on the grill. Thanks for the giveaway!

  36. ducky says:

I really like cooking grilled veggies.

  38. Sheila M says:

    Marshmallows slightly burned.

  39. PhyllisLaatsch says:

Fun! I’ll eat just about anything as long as someone else cooks it 😉 But I love BBQ chicken with loads of sauce. I never make it for myself, don’t ask me why not…

And s’mores. Lots and lots of s’mores!

  40. I love grilling pineapple – it sounds kinda weird, but it is SOOOOO good!
