A few weeks back, I was tweeting and talking on the podcast about how much I enjoyed the third book in Tessa Dare's Spindle Cove series, A Lady By Midnight (A | BN | K | S). Avon kindly offered up 5 digital ARCs to help me soothe my feelings of guilt for talking about a book so far before the on-sale date. Super easy and quick giveaway ahoy!
If you'd like to win a digital ARC of A Lady By Midnight, leave a comment below and tell me your favorite piece of classical music (the heroine, Kate, is a music teacher in Spindle Cove).
I'll share one of mine: one of my absolute favorites is the second movement to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, which you can hear (and watch from a 1952 Carnegie Hall performance) on YouTube. The first movement of the 5th is pretty bad ass, but the second movement is my favorite.
And if you don't like classical music, you can still enter! TV themes, jazz, instrumental interstitials to commercials, they all totally count. Feel free to post a link to the piece of music you're suggesting, too. This will be one loud entry when I figure out how to make them auto play all at once.
There are no restrictions geographically for this giveaway but please know that winners will need an account with Edelweiss.abovethetreeline.com. The eARCs expire on the book’s on sale date, which is 28 August 2012.
If you're confused about what devices you can use, your questions may be answered at the Edelweiss site.
Standard disclaimers apply: I'm not being compensated for this giveaway, except that I read an ARC a week or so ago. Void where prohibited. Must be over 18 years of age and driving a wagon in order to win. Your mileage may vary. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear. Never sass a librarian or a music teacher.
You've got until 11:59pm ET Saturday 16 June, and I'll be picking the winners at random from all your musical suggestions. Ready, set, go!

Mozart’s Piano Concerto 21! Or… The Magic Flute. 😀
I am a fan of Holst’s Jupiter…. And I’ve been wanting to get my hands on more Dvorak recently. Especially his work for the Cello.
But, if you mean music from the classical period… then I’m going to go for the obvious -Mozart, and maybe the Rondo Alla Turca .
Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, the unfinished symphony. It was the first time I played first violin and it felt like flying.
I’m not so much into classical music, but do love music. My favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-7QSM…
The theme music for the movie The Last of the Mohicans, the one with DDL is KA.
I adore Baroque music, and I have a lot of favorites there. But if I must pick one, I think I must choose Brandenburg Concerto no 3
Bach’s cello suite #1, prelude, has a special place in my heart- used it in my wedding!
That’s a tough question. I love anything by Bach, but my favorite is probably The second movement of Spring by Vivaldi.
I like the standards, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin. The best is hearing my girls play it!
I used to play a lot of Mozart for the youngest and for the cats and lot of Chopin for my dad when I was young. Fun piano stuff. But if I’m listening, I am currently liking Copeland and Bernstein. I think I might say Bernstein’s Mass for a current fav but that will no doubt change. Oh, and for outdoor concerts, the 1812 Overture with cannons.
My favorite is definitely Chopin’s Raindrops Prelude in D Minor (Op. 28). I’m also outrageously fond of the 2nd movement of Beethoven’s 7th.
I absolutely love the theme from Schindler’s List by John Williams. The violin solo is gorgeous and brought me to tears the first time I heard it. It’s not classical, but it will be someday.
alas, i’m not a huge classical music fan (though do enjoy it to some degree, & it makes fabulous background music in tv/movies) so I couldn’t tell you one from another ;( I do know that I love to hear a wonderful classic tenor singing “Ava Maria”, just takes my breath away.
My favorites are Mozart’s Sonata in C . When I met my husband, he was teaching at a piano school and taught this piece. I LOVED to hear him play it!

Definitely Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, so tragic and gripping. You guys might want to try listening to Vanessa Mae, Bond, or Escala. These amazing artists mix classic pieces with modern rhythms and beats.
P.S. Nice job in your efforts with those author name poachers. Well done!
It’s totally got to be the third movement of Mozart’s 40th Symphony in G Minor. There’s a reason every single Regency romance has Mozart playing!
I’m thinking of the Russian Sailors Dance from the ballet “The Red Poppy” by Reinhold Gliere. I told my young nephew it was “ballet music for boys”.
I like classical but like another person above know little about it. I just listen to it more than I listen to anything else (which is not very much at all in any case). In general, Schubert’s waltzes are always good.
Vivaldi, Quattro Stagioni, especially Primavera. I absolutely love that piece, and it can be quite the earworm.
I can’t pick just one. Once upon a time, when I was younger, I sang in various choirs, so I like a great deal of choral music, such as selections from Handel’s Messiah. I love Bach and Mozart, too. Love Mozart’s operas The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute. Oh, and I love obscure Christmas music, over and above the general standards that time of year. We have a CD of a Christmas mass by Praetorius that I can listen to every year (much to my kids’ disgust).
I love the score for Pride and Prejudice. The one with Keira Knightley.
It’s a toss-up between Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings. I’m also very fond of William Walton’s Spitfire Prelude and Fugue.
Thanks for the giveaway!
The first thing that came into mind was Handel’s Messiah 🙂
The Great Gate of Kiev in Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”. Love it!
Brahms’ German Requiem!
Toss up between Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Saint-Saens Danse Macabre, and Puccini’s Nessum Dorma.
I love Mozart’s French Horn Concertos, but my favorite put me in a good mood classical music has to be Rossini’s overtures, specifically the William Tell Overture (High-ho, Silver!) and the Barber of Seville.
I’m guess anything from The Nutcracker counts. Love all the music from it.
Playing the violin for 8 years, I have a number of classical pieces that I like, but the piece I love is Bach’s Suite no. 1 in G major for cello (
About the only piece of classical music I can think of off the top of my head is Für Elise. I always wanted to learn it on the piano but I gave up on my lessons because I lost interest (practice interfered with my reading).
Not classical, but the overture from The Phantom of the Opera always gives me chills
Chopin’s Waltz No. 7 on C Sharp Minor (Op.64/2). I’ve only got like a dozen recordings of it…
Pretty much anything by Chopin is my favorite.
I love Wagner, especially “Ride of the Valkyries.”
Ooooh, it has to be the Marriage of Figaro. Does something to me.

You can never go wrong with Spongebob Squarepants
I love Vivaldi, especially “Spring” from the Four Seasons.
Um, Ride of the Valkyries?
I’m fond of Rondo a la Turk by Mozart. It’s so fun and bubbly and I just feel good when I hear it.
