Luggage Under a Vampire Moon: A Giveaway

Under a Vampire Moon - does not look like a beach book though. I have a fun and funky giveaway today, so get ready!

Lynsay Sands' Argeneau series has a new book, Under a Vampire Moon ( A | BN | K | S ), and Avon has offered some very fun prizes for you.

Because Under a Vampire Moon is partly about travel to exotic locales (in this case, St. Lucia), the prize is travel and beach themed, and I think the grand prize is really spiffy.

A Baggalini roller carry on in slate gray with green trim - very cute! The grand prize is a Baggallini rolling tote bag in steel blue with green trim, stuffed with all of Lynsay Sands' Argeneau books, including:

  • A QUICK BITE
  • LOVE BITES
  • SINGLE WHITE VAMPIRE
  • TALL, DARK, AND HUNGRY
  • A BITE TO REMEMBER
  • BITE ME IF YOU CAN
  • THE ACCIDENTAL VAMPIRE
  • VAMPIRES ARE FOREVER
  • VAMPIRE INTERRUPTED
  • THE ROGUE HUNTER
  • THE IMMORTAL HUNTER
  • THE RENEGADE HUNTER
  • BORN TO BITE
  • HUNGRY FOR YOU
  • THE RELUCTANT VAMPIRE
  • UNDER A VAMPIRE MOON

There are also five runner-up prizes: a copy of Under a Vampire Moon and a Lynsay Sands beach ball.

Since I am all about the beach, here's the really tough and difficult question you have to answer: which beach do you think is best for reading? What's the best beach you've ever visited? Share – and we'll all have summer-beach envy together.

The contest will be open from today (24 April) through noon eastern on 1 May. I'll select the winners at random from the comments.

Standard disclaimers apply: I'm not being compensated for this giveaway, not even with spiffy luggage. Void where prohibited. Must be over 18 and wearing a hula skirt (but not a coconut bra – those things look itchy) to win. This giveaway is open to international residents (yay!). Clothing that is itchy is hereby outlawed in my immediate jurisdiction. Action figures and margaritas sold separately.

So, tell me: what beach do you think is the best for reading and relaxing? If you could visit a beach anywhere in the world with a book and no time limit, which would it be?

Just one beach? Yikes! I’ve been lucky enough to have enjoyed beautiful beaches from Maine to Key West, from the Cape to Kauai, and a few more exotic locales scattered around the world. That said, if I had to pick a favorite beach, it would have to be one of the beaches along the Kiawah Island, SC coast. If home is where the heart is, Kiawah is, was and always will be my home, even though I grew up nearly 800 miles north of Kiawah, and currently live nearly 3000 miles west of Kiawah now. There’s just something about the low country beaches that speak to my soul.

  2. Clbevill says:

Agate Beach in Newport, Oregon.  Lovely, rugged, and breathtaking.

  3. Christine says:

What a fun give away! I remember really loving the beach in San Sebastian, Spain. But we live near Manhattan Beach in CA, and we’ve spent a lot of nice hours reading there. The key for me is the little half dome sun shelter I bought at the end of the season last summer—best thing ever! We can stay for hours.

  4. JennyME says:

I like Sunset Beach—it’s on the NC coast, right next to the SC border. It tends to be quiet and peaceful. Wish I were there right now!

  5. My favorite beach ever was Cavendish on PEI!

  6. cyclops8 says:

The nicest beach I’ve been to is Punaluu Black Sand Beach on the Big Island.

  7. Sandra says:

    Ocean City Maryland!

  8. Emily says:

This is an amazing giveaway! My beach experience is limited. I blame it on growing up in NJ and never having to go far to get to the beach. As a reader with very limited travel experience, I’ll pick my favorite NJ beach – Spring Lake.

  9. CarmieGail says:

i know most are saying beaches by an ocean, but my favorite beach is next a small lake near my home. Small, quiet, beautiful. perfect place to just relax and read. as for a beach i’d love to visit anywhere in the world? Ireland, a beach in Ireland

  10. Cherry Grove Beach in South Carolina because it is a beautiful area and there are not many people around just the right amount to make it comfortable.  Close to shops so that you can get a refreshing drink and a great spot close to the tide, so that you can put your chair out and the water will flow over your toes while you read.  Its like being in your own warm bubble and if you laugh out loud people walking pass laugh with you not at you cause they understand that this is the a reading beach.

  11. Chris says:

Lido Beach (or the beach on Lido Key) in or near Sarasota, FL. White sand, clear water, and not very many people, because they all go to Siesta Key.

  12. oatmealpie says:

I prefer lakeside to oceanside for reading. It’s still a beach, but with more shade and fewer people. There’s one near Bean Blossom in Brown County Indiana that would be beautiful in the fall.

  13. I’m hoping the beach in Punta Mita, since I’ve heard RAVE reviews, and it’s my current vacation plan for November.

  14. This giveaway is so awesome! So, I live in San Francisco where the beaches are mighty chilly. BUT China Beach is so awesome! It’s small, it has secret nooks for hiding with books, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge…. Pretty excellent.

  15. Artesia says:

I haven’t been to the beach in YEARS, and it was in Jersey. So I’ll have to pass on the best beach I’ve been to question, but I really want to go to one of those white sand and blue blue waters beaches, the one where the water is so clear and perfect you can see so much under the water!! I’d also love to go to Australia, so I’ll say any beach there too.

  16. Penfield716 says:

I visited Virginia Beach in high school and that was a nice beach to read on.

  17. LauraN says:

I’m from the Midwest, so my experience with beaches is extremely limited.  Does Indiana Beach count?  There’s more than corn in Indiana!

When I was a teenager my family went to Sanibel Island once, and it was lovely.  I read a lot (naturally) and got an absolutely dreadful sunburn.

  18. .: grace :. says:

There’s a fabulous beach off of Praia de Barra in Sa?o Salvador da Bahia de Todos os Santos, in Brasil. I’m not sure if it’s even got a name – it’s a quiet little nook, with plenty of rocks and waves, and it’s got lousy parking and is a bit of a climb to get over the rocks to get down to it. But once you’re there, it’s beautiful – quiet, with just the ocean crashing, and so long as you don’t mind bringing your own chair and umbrella, it’s a great place to sit and relax and read.

Behind the rocks, back on the street, are vendors that sell salinhos – friend and/or salty snacks like acaraje? or coixinha – and coconut water and a variety of juices, so if you want a quick bite, you can stuff yourself for cheap.

  19. kittycoroner says:

The beach in Nice, France is great for reading.  Even in October it is still warm enough to sit out on and read, plus the views of the old buildings framed by palm trees are almost as nice as the views of the ocean all from the same beach.

  20. Jen B. says:

Oh, this is easy.  There is a beach in South Vietnam called Phu Quoc Island that I saw on TV that I think sounds awesome.  The views, the sands, the privacy and the FOOD!

  21. erinf1 says:

Awesome giveaway! I would love to go to a Hawaiian beach with a good book/my kindle, a cool drink and my DH 🙂

  22. Surfin4Disney says:

Hey!  Who u callin a beach?  All beaches are designed for reading…but being a good Southern girl, I’ve got to go with Panama City Beach, FL.

  23. chantalhab says:

Fantastic give away! My favourite beach is Silver Beach in ON, Canada. It’s a mostly quiet with soft white sand. The wind off the lake means that it never gets too hot!

  24. Ezreader says:

Any beach where i can go without the kids.  Ha!
    aj

  25. Lizzi says:

I think the best beach to hang out on is the “beach” at Mandalay Bay in Vegas.  It’s clean, chlorinated, and waiters bring you drinks.  Plus, there’s a lazy river! It’s the best. 😉

  26. Violet Bick says:

Can’t choose a beach, but I have to say I like watching the lifeguards on “Bondi Rescue”!

  27. britc says:

I will read on any beach. My favorite beaches are more on the cold and rocky version with tide pools and things to climb. My childhood in the pacific northwest taught me that the ocean is not for swimming, it is for other things.

  28. Bryden says:

I would be in Slave Lake Alberta, with my cozy broken in lawn chair right along the water line with my feet dipped into the lake, husband right next to me playing his PSP and our kids at Grandma’s. I have five kids ages 10 – new so that would be heaven in my eyes. Love Lyndsay’s books By the way so I’d be reading one of my favorites The accidental vampire

  29. lisa m says:

I live in a land locked state and have never been to a beach though I watch the travel Chanel a lot and would love to visit any beach really maybe Hawaii someday

  30. Gcyn37 says:

Although any beach can be fitting, I personally fell in love with Elofanisi in Crete, Greece!

  31. Jody says:

To be honest, I didn’t know the name of the beach until I got back home and looked it up! The name of the beach is Sounio Beach, Cape Sounio. It is right below the Temple of Poseidon and it is absolutely beautiful! The water is so blue and the horizon has a slight haze to it. It gives off the feeling that the water and the sky are one. It is one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen and would love to go back.

  32. MaddBookish says:

I just went to the beach for the first time this year. Which forever ruined romance book phrases where someone compares the taste of someone’s kiss to the sea/ocean, ‘cause … ugh … the ocean tastes gross.

We the kids to Disney World for spring break, but my husband set aside the last day of our trip to take me to Cocoa Beach so that I could experience the ocean.

What beach would I want to go to? When my husband was in the Navy, he fell in love with Corfu and it’s many beaches, so I’d like to go there and see them with him.

  33. Nikitrax says:

I think that Ft Morgan at Dauphin Island, Alabama would be perfect. It is a restored
masonry fort build in 1823. The views are great and the ambience would be perfect
for a good sea themed historical.

  34. WaltzDreamsFel says:

Honeymoon Island, FL. The sunsets are breath-taking, the Gulf water is calm, and it’s less crowded than some beaches because it’s actually a state park. 🙂

  35. Samjencarl says:

The closest beach is always the best.  Right now, I’m partial to Pensacola Beach.  It’s a nice mix of empty and developed with a handful of great casual places to eat when the sun gets to be too much …

  36. Lindablowney says:

When I was growing up, we spent every summer and every vacation with my grandparents out in Long Island, NY. We’d take the boat over to Fire Island and spend the entire day there. That was the best beach ever. I don’t really like to read at the beach (sunburns are bad for Irish girls!!), but I loved reading on the dock at Grampy’s house…

  37. Crystalnewman51 says:

Well since I’ve only been to two beaches in my life. I will probably say Daytona Beach is the best beach to relax and read

  38. I’m not a beach person, I’m more of a mountain person myself, but if I had to choose a relaxing beach get away I’d probably say either Edisto Beach (SC), Fripp Island (SC), or Tybee Island (GA).

  39. Vantine says:

Aside from the dreaded Spring Break invasion, the beaches on Siesta Key in Sarastota, FL are lovely. The sand is soft and very white. It’s like walking on powdered sugar. They also don’t seem as busy as the Clearwater beaches.

  40. some beach on the coast of Australia, if onl y so I can go there!
