Signed Books: A Giveaway of Signatures!

Update! We have a winner! Thanks to the random number generator, comment #111 is the winner. And that's Kaetrin! Email me at sarahATsmartbitchestrashybooksDOTcom to claim your books, Kaetrin, and congratulations!

You guys have the makings of one hell of an awesome booksigning if we could get all those authors in one room. Thank you to everyone who entered!

Last weekend I was at a booksigning at Turn the Page Books in Boonsboro, MD, along with Mary Kay McComas, Mary Burton, Donna Kauffman, and Nora Roberts/JD Robb. Each author was kind enough to sign a book for me to give away here, so hooray! Signed books from a collection of subgenres!

Up for grabs, and each of these copies is a signed copy – signed by the author of the book, not by me or some random person, unless Nora Roberts was played by a lookalike:

  1. KC says:

I would like to meet Ilona Andrews, Joanna Bourne, Connie Brockway, Loretta Chase, Julie James, Nora Roberts, Nalini Singh, and J.R. Ward – their books have given me so many hours of enjoyment, and I’d love to thank them for that.

  2. Amy says:

I would love to meet Jill Shalvis.  She absolutely cracks me up – I read her blog every morning !!

    Lots of laughter!

  3. AlexiaD says:

    Julie James 🙂

  4. Glee says:

I’ve been incredibly lucky and met a number of my favorite authors, if only briefly enough to say Thank You.  Of the ones on my keeper shelf that I haven’t met, I’d like to say thanks to Elizabeth Lowell, Christina Skye, and Nora Roberts.  Oh, and Linda Lael Miller and and and but I shouldn’t be piggy.

  5. Jacqueline Cook says:

    Definitely Kresley Cole.

  6. Michelle in Texas says:

Nora Roberts/J. D. Robb, and Laurie. R. King. I love the way their characters grow.

  7. CMD says:

La Nora. Need I say more? I worship at the altar of Nora… and have gotten my mum to do so as well 🙂

  8. b303tilly says:

I would love to meet Neil Gaiman. Seriously, although I think I might go all fangirl squealy on him. And his wife? Totally loves socks(like me!). She went on a tour of my favorite place here in Portland…the Sock Dreams factory.

  9. Terrie says:

It could be a long list (as I notice others have the same problem) but, most of all, Jayne Ann Krentz.  Years ago, I just happened to pick up an Eclipse Bay book at the grocery store when I was going through some dark, dark days.  I had been away from reading romances for decades (other than a long time Heyer collection) and Krentz brought me back to the genre, gave me hours of escape when I needed them desperately, and modeled for me a way I could persevere with strength and humor.  I will be forever grateful.

  10. Jamie says:

I’ve met my number one fiction author, overall, Margaret Atwood, but for romance – Nora, of course, Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn…and so many more.

  11. Zohar says:

Beyond the obvious (Nora, although I seriously doubt my ability to make a coherent sentence in her presence), I would like to meet Victoria Dahl. Again. I was waiting in line to talk to Jennifer Crusie at the literacy signing in NYC and Victoria was sitting next to her. I vaguely recalled hearing good things about her books, so I decided to get one of her books too. If I ever see her again I hope I can tell her how much I loved it (and all her other books I subsequently glommed), but I’m afraid I’d just mumble something and slink away. I suck at fangirling…

  12. Daisy says:

Elizabeth Lowell.  She was my go-to author at a time when I needed the emotion she writes into all of her books.  I would love to be able to thank her in person.

  13. Srividhya says:

Nora Roberts – She was one of the first authors I read when getting into Romance and I still love her books. Juliet Marillier and Jacqueline because man, they can write. I’ll read anything, anything by them.

  14. Aurora85 says:

I’d love to meet Jade Lee and ask her to sign the Tigress collection, and also Jillian Burns and Lisa Yee.

  15. Lady says:

I love Lisa Kleypas soo much!
really wish to have her signed book!
If I have another chance, I’d like to meet Lavyrle Spencer, Catherine Anderson and Debbie MacComber too! 😀

  16. Atiba40 says:

Nalini Singh – that’s who I’d like to meet!

  17. Maureen says:

I would Jill Shalvis since her books and her blog are fun to read.

  18. alaina keener says:

I would be very happy to meet Lisa Kleypas and/ or Nora Roberts.

  19. Hai-yen Huynh says:

There are so many authors I would love to meet. Here goes: Jeaniene Frost, Rachel Vincent, Kelley Armstrong, Patricia Briggs, J.R. Ward, Charlaine Harris, Lynsay Sands, Lydia Dare, Richelle Mead, Megan Cabot, Nalini Singh, Kim Harrison, Rosalie Lario, Karen Marie Moning.

    Thank you for the opportunity!

  20. Patti Williams says:

I would love to meet Lauren Dane, Victoria Dahl, and Shiloh Walker. They are authors that I have recently started reading and their books are some of my favorites.

  21. Oh boy… well, Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, Jane Austen,  the writers of The Daily Show (and Jon Stewart), the writers of the Colbert Report (and Stephen Colbert), Lauren Willig, Mike Brown (the one that killed Pluto), Andrew Lloyd Webber (sure, he didn’t write the original Phantom of the Opera book, but sure wouldn’t mind my favorite copy with his signature!), and that’s all I got at this rather early hour. LOL

  22. JanLo says:

I have met La Nora and she is as nice as you could want an author to be. I’d love to have a signed copy of the J. D. Robb book.

  23. erinf1 says:

Oh wow! You are soooo lucky!  I’d love to read La Nora. Nora Roberts is a writing God and I’ve enjoyed so many of her books. She would be my first choice, but all the others look grand also, so I’m wouldn’t say no to any of them 🙂

  24. Sara says:

This is probably expected but J.K. Rowling. Reading the first Harry Potter book was life changing for me. Or maybe I shouldn’t meet her because she won’t live up to my hero-like expectations of her. In that case I’d love for Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett to sign my copy of Good Omens despite me not having dropped it in the bathtub.

  25. Tin Ong says:

Would love to meet Elizabeth Hoyt and Sherry Thomas—and have them sign my books. ^_^

  26. Marypres says:

I’d love to meet Neil Gaiman & see if he is as quirky in real life as his books are.

  27. girlygirlhoosier52 says:

Mary Kay McComas, because I really don’t know much about her at all..

  28. I’m another Nora Roberts girl.  I enjoy her books sooo much!

(& if I had a time machine and some magic, I would also pick Betty Smith.  A Tree Grows in Brooklyn will always be my favorite book).

  29. MaryJanice Davidson she seems like she’d crack you up while signing your book.

  30. KM says:

Heather Graham, Pamela Clare, the late great Kathleen Woodiwiss and Lisa Kleypas, just to name a few. I would have to agree with William Shakespeare also. My husband’s Montague ancestor was Shakespeare’s inspiration for that name in Romeo and Juliet, supposedly.

  31. jeannev says:

Easy one.  Julia Quinn.  If she is half as witty as some of her characters in real life (which i totally envision!)………….

  32. Laura (in PA) says:

    Alexander McCall Smith!  🙂

  33. Wendy Cheairs says:

I would like to meet Nora Roberts/ J.D. Robb since I love the In Death series. Also probably Amanda Quick (Jayne Krentz) too.

  34. Lil' Deviant says:

I would say Sarah Wendell.  HA!  I would love love love to buy her a drink and hear some of the crazy ass stories of mullet wigs and just crazy tales she knows.

    *grin*

  35. I would love to meet Laura Kinsale, who went from being an engineer bossing men around to writing romance novels. She is, for me, the undisputed queen of the Wounded Hero genre, and her stories always have depth and real heart to them.

But alas, she’s not on your list, so I would love to meet “J. D. Robb” (La Nora), the only writer I know who can successfully juggle a police procedural, a romance, and a science fiction story all in one. Gotta admire anyone who can do that.

  36. Stephanie K. says:

Kim Harrison, Karen Marie Moning, Nora Roberts, Patricia Briggs and J.R Ward.

  37. Rachel Bussan says:

I would love to meet Nora Roberts.  She was one of the first romance authors I ever read as a teenager, and is still one of my favorites.  I love the Eve Dallas series because she makes Eve so human.  Eve is super tough, yet vulnerable and trying to overcome a horrific past.  I want to cheer for her all the way.

  38. *trix says:

I’d love to meet JK Rowling! I don’t think I need to really explain all the whys, but she’s brilliant and funny and modest and overall just one of my heroes.

  39. Diane Sallans says:

I’d love to be a have a casual tea party with Nora Roberts, I’ve read so many of her books, but haven’t started the ‘In Death’ series yet.  I’d also love to have Suzanne Brockmann, Debbie Macomber, Susan Mallery, Mary Balogh, Johanna Lindsey… so many that I’d need to have several parties.

  40. Chris Bails says:

I have a few like Laurell K Hamilton, Jeaniene Frost, Sabrina Jeffries, Patricia Briggs, Kim Harrison, JK Rowling, Stephenie Meyers, JR Ward, Johanna Lindsey, Jodi Redford, and Lauren Dane.  I have only met one author and that was awesome.  I got to meet Charlaine Harris a couple of years ago and she was so nice and signed books for us.
