I just really loved that the family was together for Christmas – we had a lot of fun just exchanging things that showed thought & were picked out especially.

  2. Milly says:

Best gift given to my 12 year old classical music loving son – tickets to the symphony.  Best gift received – same son telling me that music and books are TV for your brain only better!

  3. PamG says:

Favorite gifting moment this year was when my boss opened the Kindle that the staff had gotten her and started jumping around and squealing joyfully.  There are few better feelings than getting a gift that’s exactly right for someone, and I was tickled because it had been my tentative suggestion.

My son received the full set of Fullmetal Alchemist … Boy was he happy!

  5. Darlynne says:

My favorite? All of them, whatever someone I know thought to give me.

  6. Shogroian says:

A paper bird my eleven year old son gave me.  I was blown away that such a wild thing could make me something so beautiful.

  7. Kristin says:

My favorite gift ever received was a Pleo robotic dinosaur… so much fun!

Today’s best gift was the Kitchen Aid mixer my parents gave me!

  9. Update, while the treasure hunt was cool!  I got a Kindle!!  No more reading ebooks on my phone!  I now have something with more than 10 words on each page!!

    Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  10. Jennellen says:

An iPhone!  Totally unexpected but so wanted!  LOL

  11. Katherinelynn_04 says:

My favorite gift this year (which I received) was the Hot Wheels Delorean from Back to the Future. They cost like a dollar, but it is full of whimsy and I love it!

  12. Dawn says:

My husband got me a new lens for my dslr camera – it is really fast and has manual-automatic focusing, so I’ve been taking great pictures all day and I love it!

My favorite gifts (given) are the “full of awesome” tshirts I got for my daughters from Pigtail Pals, because that’s how I want them to wake up every day!!!

  13. Abbey says:

I think my favorite gift this year is my disappearring/reappearing TARDIS coffee cup, which I will use for my morning tea.

  14. Kathleen says:

My favorite gift to give was one I didn’t get credit for.  A couple years ago, a few days before Christmas, my older sister said she hadn’t gotten our Mom anything for Christmas that year because she couldn’t afford gifts.  So I ordered a hat my mom had mentioned in passing, paid for it to be wrapped and express-delivered to my sister’s house so that when Mom and the family dropped by, it would be there.
Mom opened the hat, and burst into tears.  It was an exact replica of HER grandmothers, that she used to borrow in the cold to hang up clothes.  It brought back a lot of great memories, and she thought my sister was a genius.
At least I got “good kid” credit this year for the black Coach handbag I bought her 🙂

  15. Mob says:

I gave a six foot toboggan to the kids…fun for all of us! Happy holidays everyone!

  16. Deb G. says:

I gave my niece and nephews little stuffed animals when they were born, and 5 1/2 years later they still have them, and love them. 🙂

  17. Best gift?  Seeing my nephew and his gf today.

  18. susan says:

My favorite gift this year was from my husband—a fleece-lined jacket. It is too big but is easily exchanged. I never suggested this—he heard me say something once about liking this kind of thing.

  19. Emily E says:

This is my second Christmas without my Mother.  I’ve been scanning family photos and posting them on the computer.  My gift to myself and to my cousins.

  20. Zee Lemke says:

I haven’t given anyone a gift yet, except some ornaments for my boyfriend’s family. I tried to get a menorah for a friend who couldn’t find one, but it sold between when I saw it and when I went back to buy it. My grandmother gave me a diamond out of her wedding ring, so I think I need to work really hard on the karma.

  21. ShellyD says:

Last year, my husband gave me a Kindle, which will probably go down in history as the best present I’ve ever received.  This year, my mother in law made me an 8 foot snuggy fleece scarf that I really love.  It was a slimmer-pickens year, but everyone seemed very pleased with our presents.

  22. Cialina says:

My favorite gift that I have received is a set of librarian’s tools for my own personal library!

  23. Caschoe says:

My favorite gift was a new pair of boots! My toes won’t be shivering this winter 🙂

  24. best gift received: a hand-knitted wool scarf from my grandmother 🙂

  25. Megan S. says:

My favorite gift received this year was a Doctor Who coffee mug. Two of my favorite things, combined. 🙂

  26. Ashley Leann says:

A couple years ago my boyfriend went out of his way to find a new record player for me after mine broke, he also gave me two Ramones albulms, best Christmas ever!

  27. jivediva says:

Fav gift? Oh, so many 😛 I guess the best gift I ever gave was to my mom; my brother and I spent hours collecting old family photos and then pasting them into a collage. It still hangs in her office.

  28. Aurora85 says:

Let’s see, favorite gifts, favorite gifts… wow I’m stumped. Only gifts I received are books, and these are more like to keep my sanity rather than something with warm gooey feelings. Two years ago I got a cool Valentines Day gift from my Korean ex when he gave me a package of Ferrero Rochers, but beyond that nothing.

My mom is a huge Outlander fan, so I gave her Exile. It was a great surprise for her because she didn’t even know about that one.
    Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

  30. Davi says:

Favorite present: I walked into Walgreens yesterday and drifted by the books, you know just in case, and what is on the shelf? The Duke is Mine by Eloisa James! I had to look at it like three times to make sure it was really the right book. I guess the stockers didn’t feel like waiting until the 27th to put it out. Merry Christmas to me!!!

It was, of course, just as good as I’d hoped!

  31. Iokijo says:

Best given.. probably sneaking a new TV into the parents Living room while they were gone Christmas Eve, and leaving a note from the elves, but that was years ago.
recieved.. this year hard to choose.. anklet made by my friend.. or check from my Mom & Dad which will help replace my clothes that Dad shrank the hell out of when he “helped” with the laundry yesterday : )
Thanks for giving everyone a chance at such a great Holiday prize.
Hope your having a very Happy Hanukkah.

Couldn’t find my goggles, but I can use my fingers in a pinch.. does that count?

  32. Kinaheso says:

My favorite gift was something I got from my dad when I was a toddler.  My mom was worried that they didn’t have enough money for christmas gifts, but she managed to pick up a few stuffed animals.  As I was looking from one to the other my dad brought up a giant blue stuffed horse.  He had secretely worked all night making it from an old mattress, and I saw it and fell in love.  The thing is huge (my mom often found me flopped over asleep on it’s back when I was supposed to be in my bed).  I still have it hanging around, my faithful blue steed.

  33. My favorite gift was my Detroit Red Wings pillow pet.  Yes, I roll that way.  🙂

  34. kate gomberg says:

The best gift I’ve gotten was my brother home safely from Afghanistan just in time for Christmas 2010. I’m hoping to get the same gift for Christmas 2012, as he’s leaving for another tour on January 2nd.

  35. Copa says:

I have been desperately wanting a blender so I could stop hand crushing the several glasses of ice I eat a day, but I hadn’t been able to talk myself into it, but my Mom remembered my longing and got me a blender with it’s own ice crushing button! yippie!

I got her a nook, which she really really wanted but couldn’t talk herself into, yippie for us both!

  36. Jen McKernan says:

It’s pretty funny, I’m almost 30, and my favorite gift that I received this year was a Nerf gun!!  Sometimes it just nice to be a little immature for a while!

  37. Dancing_Angel says:

The power went out earlier today for about three hours.  It got cold.  I had enough food and blankets, but it was a weird feeling, especially worrying that it wouldn’t come back on.

When it DID come back on, I decided to celebrate by putting together two gift bags of food – one perishable, one not – things like fruit, chocolate and so on – and taking them to a local tent city, where the residents live like that all of the time.

  38. Favorite gift I gave this year was a “Hot Priests of Rome” calendar to my best friend’s mother-in-law. Being ever the devout Catholic and a woman with an eye for hot men, she loved it!  The look on her face when she opened it was priceless.

  39. Amy says:

My brother gave me the best gift ever! A coupon promising he will read TWO books of MY choice by next Christmas! I am so excited for him to actually read something, he’s never finished a book before in his life.

  40. Jessica MD says:

My mom is a Twi-hard, so she was very happy when I got her the Edward doll from Barbie’s Twilight collection.
