According to Jeaniene Frost, our review of Halfway to the Grave was the first review for her 2007 debut novel. I still remember Hubby picking the book up off the dining room table and asking me what it was – the cover is still very striking, and I believe the same model has been used for the series.
This week, starting today, actually, Halfway to the Grave is on sale for $1.99 as an ebook, along with bonus materials like deleted scenes and excerpts of the new book. There’s never-before-published scenes, the first four chapters of One Foot in the Grave, and two additional excerpts as well. Seriously. Bonus Materials, this ebook has them.
The sale price is valid today until 25 October, so you’ve got plenty of opportunity to buy, gift, and nag folks if you really liked this book (I did). You can get the sale price at Amazon Kindle, Kobo, and BN.com.
So, to celebrate the sale, Jeaniene wants to give away a digital reader here, where her first review was posted. So we’re going back to 2007!
Just kidding. Up for winning is one digital book reading device, either a Kindle, a nook or a Sony – winner’s choice. This contest is open to anyone worldwide where permitted, but it is the winner’s responsibility to make sure the device selected will work in their location.
You could win:

A Kindle 3G with Special Offers
A WiFi Nook Color
A Sony Reader PRS-T1BC with WiFi
Again – winner’s choice. Woo hoo!

So, let’s get to it. What are your Bonus Materials, wink wink nudge nudge?

A nice plush pillow with a silver blade hidden inside just in case. And, of course, I’m with the good books crowd. Can’t go anywhere without a good book.
My ipod and my phone , and my favorite blanket.!!
I absolutely love Jeaniene Frost’s books! I’ve enjoyed reading the edited chapters on her site too.
My bonus materials? That’s easy. Dr Pepper, Burts Bees, and iPhone!
A good ex-large Tim Hortons Double Double coffee…To keep on reading….oh ya!…
Accompanying me halfway to the grave would be Godiva milk chocolate caramels, my slippers, my thick & comfy hoodie, and my warm & snugglie hubby!
My bonus materials would be a warm beach, a hammock, a tall cool drink, and a tall hot cabana boy to keep my hammock swinging.
My bonus materials would be my husband so we can have all the life after death fun that Cat and Bones have *wink wink*
Wow, looks like the sky’s the limit here 🙂 I’d have to say if I could go all genie in a bottle about it, my bonus materials would be:
1) my kindle fully loaded w/ all the books I could ever want
2) the detailed back stories and never ending sagas of my favorite characters
3) money to support myself so I could quit my job so I could devote myself to reading
4) a comfy chair that came w/ a butler to bring me food and drink
5) my puppy who is a fantastic cuddler and loves to cuddle in my lap while I read 🙂
6) my ass to stay the same no matter how long I sit and read
Oh and world peace and stuff…. 😉
Give me pie, coffee and a great book and I’m a happy girl. A fluffy pillow, soft blanket and some chapstik would be greatly appreciated though. Everything else I think I can live without.
My bonus materials: my lucky ladybug necklace, because I wear it all the time, so of COURSE it’s going with me, and my purse because if it’s not in my purse I probably don’t/won’t need it:)
spirit32: nope, I don’t have 32 spirits in my purse
Give me a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie, my bed (I’ve made it perfect) and a clean bedroom (that I didn’t have to clean). Add in a bottle of water with cranberry cosmopolitan target brand crystal light and my kindle with an unlimited gift card balance. That’s not bonus materials though, that’s HEAVEN.
Bonus materials include a cat with 4.5 lives left, extra-large cashmere blanket with tassels, a magic bottomless flask of champagne, a collection of cloud-filled pillows in several sizes, silk chemise and matching bottoms, incense, books galore, and a male maid complete with palm-leaf fan for when I feel a little warm.
Hmmm…my bonus material would be my papasan rocker, ipod, and DEFINITELY coffee!
My sewing machine, my fabric collection, my (loaded to capacity) e-reader and a mega-supply of hazelnut gelato!
My bonus materials: all my favorite books and my Starbucks—not just a drink, I would like to take my whole entire Starbucks with me.
Hmm, If I was halfway to the grave, I would probably grab:
My baby blankies
My stuffed teddy bear my aunt made me
my warmest, comfiest jammies
A nice king sized pillow
and my Kindle
All of these would make me nice and comfy because I would obviously have a lot of time to read.
I’d have to take my fully loaded Nook, chocolate and coffee. 🙂
my canary and my coalmine
Sarcasm and Profanity. My last words may end up being “Why the long fucking face?”
If bonus materials are my must haves for hunting bad vampires in the Night Huntress World: Silver stiletto shoes, slutty dress, and well, don’t need panties. I like gin & tonic but I have to go with margaritas- rocks, no salt.
Thanks for the contest!
All I need is a book, a bottle of Riesling and a towel to sit on.
Books. Lots and lots of books. And also the internet, so that I could download more books…
My Bonus Materials would be my most comfortable clothes, my favorite books, a machine that makes any hot beverage I desire, and a constant supply of cuddles from my kids 🙂
My phone, lip gloss, and of course books!!!!
A Cadbury’s with nuts chocolate bar and a brolly.
But seriously, bonus materials should have annotations for the older books! It would be such a help to decode Dorothy Sayers’ Busman’s Holiday if you could call up an explanation for historical slang or French and Latin translations from within the book. I’d even accept footnotes!
Chocolate and books. That’s heaven, right there. 🙂
O.o though my word veri is ‘plan69’ which, great though it sounds, is perhaps not so viable after death…unless you’re zombies?
A Cadbury’s chocolate bar and a steel-tipped brolly.

Oops! Sorry for the double post!
My bonus materials are the following:
My magic purse which can hold an unlimited number of items giving me access to all my books (I have a lot), my IPod, (scoff if you will but I have 118 DAYS worth of audio books on there), My IPhone (so I can call my crew), chocolate, hair spray, lipstick, bail money and a gun. (those are self explanatory)
I think I would take a bottle of Pinot Noir, goat cheese, a crust baguette, and for extra special dark bitter bonus, a side of Bones…
My laptop. Absolutely. There’s wireless there, right?
food? chocolate, especially! Some water might be nice as well.
My spare reading glasses, because it would kill me to have all those words on an an ereader and not be able to read them.
(office56: made it out of the office for good before age 56, thank you.)
Vodka, coffee and plenty of books
oh, god, what I wouldn’t give for a nook!
I would take tea, chocolate, my special fair trade hot cocoa mix and my Girl Genius coffee mug and my electric teapot (with never ending power pupply) tons of books, internet access with the nook, a never ending notebook with a never ending supply of pens, and my guitar.
a good bottle, a flashlight w/ extra batteries & a few good books left to be read from the tbr pile (it’s big enough that i’m sure there will be at least a few still waiting)
My laptop, gobs of books, and a crate of M&M’s.
A blanket – graves are cold
A flashlight – they’re also dark
Some books
My iPad
Probably also a weapon of some sort to fend off attackers
My kindle, plenty of Mellow Yellow code zero and some kind of computer to access email.
If I’m going halfway to the grave, I’m gonna have to get me some kick-ass boots, because that’s just what you need to keep vampires in line. And bubble bath, can’t live without bubble bath.
