According to Jeaniene Frost, our review of Halfway to the Grave was the first review for her 2007 debut novel. I still remember Hubby picking the book up off the dining room table and asking me what it was – the cover is still very striking, and I believe the same model has been used for the series.
This week, starting today, actually, Halfway to the Grave is on sale for $1.99 as an ebook, along with bonus materials like deleted scenes and excerpts of the new book. There’s never-before-published scenes, the first four chapters of One Foot in the Grave, and two additional excerpts as well. Seriously. Bonus Materials, this ebook has them.
The sale price is valid today until 25 October, so you’ve got plenty of opportunity to buy, gift, and nag folks if you really liked this book (I did). You can get the sale price at Amazon Kindle, Kobo, and BN.com.
So, to celebrate the sale, Jeaniene wants to give away a digital reader here, where her first review was posted. So we’re going back to 2007!
Just kidding. Up for winning is one digital book reading device, either a Kindle, a nook or a Sony – winner’s choice. This contest is open to anyone worldwide where permitted, but it is the winner’s responsibility to make sure the device selected will work in their location.
You could win:

A Kindle 3G with Special Offers
A WiFi Nook Color
A Sony Reader PRS-T1BC with WiFi
Again – winner’s choice. Woo hoo!

So, let’s get to it. What are your Bonus Materials, wink wink nudge nudge?

@EmilyD would those be Sanders dark chocolate sea salted caramels? I’ve been lusting after those and waiting impatiently for the weather to cool down enough to order them…
Warm clothes (including thick and comfy socks), a sack of food (in case I decide I want a last meal, who knows what that choice is going to be. Oh the possibilities!) and my laptop (because when you get tired of reading there is always something else that needs doing!)
For my bonus material would books, lots of books, as well as something to protect myself with. Who knows what else might be in the area.
I’m just wondering how much room I have when I’m halfway to the grave, since I’ll not only need an e-reader with an endless supply of books and power, but will also need my sewing machine (with endless power, natch), all my quilting notions and books, and my massive fabric stash.
A flashlight, a can of air, & a megaphone. If I’m only halfway to the grave, somebody better come and get me the hell out before I go the rest of the way
Fully-loaded iPad (with Kindle and iBooks apps!) and a supply of really good assorted chocolates.
I’d probably bring along Wrinkles, my stuffed dog. He’s been along for the ride for over 22 years now.
Contest’s due date (9/26) is my birthday and I’ll be 42, which is the answer. So, my bonus material must be a towel and maybe a mouse.
When I think of getting old, halfway to the grave, I want eye that can still read, hands that can hold something to read (ereader), and a library of one sort or another.
I really do worry about someday not being able to read. Do I need to start imprinting favorite books so that I can recall them?
My purse, because even if all that’s in it is wallet with no money, some gum, pens, my keys and an assortment of receipts dating all the way back to 2004, I feel weird and spazzy without it. If I leave it at home for whatever reason, I always have these little freak out panic moments where i’m sure i’ve left it somewhere and someone’s taken it.
My watch, because I feel naked without it.
And finally, my rings. My wedding ring, and my mom’s wedding ring, which I am taking all the way TO the grave and giving back to her when we are zombies.
Spamword: Read85. Oh, man. I would LOVE to just sit and read 85 good books.
Hmm my bonus material…
@ Home:
A good stack of paranormal books, my fully-loaded iPod for background music, my laptop on the side (never know when i’ll need the net), plus and endless supply of chocolates and Pepsi (i know, killer combo, but i just can’t resist it!)
On the move:
My iPhone (loaded with both music and books, + the net ^.^) with headset, my fave pair of boots, my sunglasses, my tinted lip balm, and my blade knife
A girl has to be prepare (^.~)
My iPhone, lip gloss & a Starbucks trenta black iced tea unsweetened.
My Complete Works of Shakespeare, my DC comics collection, and my stuffed Pikachu. (So I have esoteric taste.)
I would take a pack of Twizzlers, a Chai Latte, and a lot of books.
A good book and a diet pepsi
A book and light for reading!
Under-eye concealer, my phone, and a good bra!!
Homemade Nachos with avocado, tomatoes, hot jalapenos and of course lots and lots of beef and cheese! If I’m halfway to the grave at my age I’m at least going out happy and bloated.
(Hopefully these special imaginary nachos aren’t the things sending me to an early grave…)
Hmm. My bonus materials would have to be my nook a thick blanket and my kitten, Missy.
I’d take a fully loaded ereader, an endless power supply for the reader, a sleeping bag and lots of dark chocolate!
I will be taking my Laptop, Camera, all my favorite books, a head light so i can read in the dark, and a pillow and blanket so I am nice and comfy.
Bonus Material would be my Husband 🙂 Dont want to be alone, coffee and my books.
Got to have my computer and some coffee. LOL. Thanks for the giveaways. I really enjoyed Halfway to the Grave book.

First all, the ereader that I am going to win. Also chocolate (milk not that dark stuff), and a warm blankie.
Oooh definitely my iPhone. A warm duvet, a comb and some Carmex wouldn’t go astray either. Do we get to eat in the grave? If so sone dark chocolate, coke zero, Mum’s lasagne and saltines also have to go on the list!
“materials” eh? velvet and silk… maybe a little linen for summer/Hell wear…
“material” eh? velvet and silk… maybe a little linen for summer/Hell wear…
I would take of course books and chocolate!!!!
I’d definitely make sure I had some chocolate with me if I was halfway to the grave! Cheers me up in any situation!
I would take of course books and chocolate!!
My beloved Sony Reader, a couple or three or four of my favorite shoes, and some Cheeseballs. Bring on the grave!
A very comfy pair of heels, chapstick, a good book, and a Swiss Army knife, aka my everyday staples.
My bonus materials would have to be an ipod, switchblade and godiva lemon truffles(well I have some decorum about me.)
Hell with a ipod and switchblade I could pull a McGuyver if I had too, watch out! 8-D
The souls of all those who pissed me off during my lifetime. Hopefully.
A case of Moscato D’Asti, my Walkman, a notebook and a good pen, and a vat of pistachios.
Chocolate, books (any format will do), and some extra underwear. Bones is quite adept at removing them.
(And to the person who asked, all of the Cat and Bones books are on audio. The narrator is really good.)
A large reading pile and a cup of iced coffee!
I’m taking my laptop and external hard drives with me! That way I’ll always have my favorite books (well, ebooks at least), music, and movies with me. I think there’d also be some good Israeli chocolate with me because that is the BEST chocolate in the world! (Great, now you ladies have me craving Cow brand chocolate, which no one locally imports.)
All I can think of is an intact memory of a life well lived.
A cat to snuggle with and keep the mice away. A book or twenty. And tacos. If I’m going to be dealing with the afterlife, I want to also deal with sour cream, beef, and some sort of tortilla.
