Here’s a little something new and different. To celebrate the release of “Faking It,” by Elisa Lorello, I’ve got my totally-craving-spring hands on a giveaway for you: flower delivery service California Blooms is donating 1 dozen roses to a Smart Bitches, Trashy Books reader located in the continental U.S. The winner will also get a free copy of FAKING IT! If you win, you can have the flowers and book sent to yourself (who doesn’t want a dozen roses and hot read delivered to her door?) or someone you love.
Faking It by Elisa Lorella is about Andi, a composition and rhetoric professor, who breaks off her engagement and moves home to Long Island to start her life and career over. Then she meets Devin, a male escort whose client list seems to include at least half of the accomplished women she knows. Devin is totally handsome and charming (and quite out of her league) but Andi senses something underneath his sexy exterior that fascinates her. So she proposes a “teaching” arrangement: each of them will educate the other in what they know best. Devin will teach Andi to be a better lover, and she’ll teach him to be a writer.
That’s right, it’s all about conjugation up in here. Awwww yeah.
Yes, this giveaway is US only (sorry about that – if I could send flowers to you wherever you are, I totally would, unless you live in one of those luscious tropical countries with flowers all over the place and would look at one more bloom as a reason to screech). All you have to do is leave a comment with what you think is the sexiest verb (in any language), and you’re entered to win. Comments will be open for 48 hours, and standard disclaimers apply: I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. I really like flowers. No animals were disturbed in the writing of this entry. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear (and may also be bigger, too – woo!) Yes, verbs totally are sexy. They are the sexytimes of the parts of speech.

Listen
I’ll go with bite. =)
Fill….oh so many possibilities
To combust
I have an attachment to simmer (see last name) but I like caress too. Quicken and quiver are nice as well because the letter q is sexy.
müssen, must, have to. there is such urgency in that.
Luxuriate. To me it means rolling around in something soft, with someone awesome, being silly, laughing and nibbling. To luxuriate in someone’s company… *sigh*
While I wouldn’t usually say this, right now the sexiest verb is “ringing.”
Explanation (cause WTH?): I finished reading The Piper’s Son by Melina Marchetta (excellent book, BTW, as all of hers are) and there’s a scene *spoiler alert* where Tom is having oral sex with Tara and can only think of the lines from the poem Japan By Billy Collins: you are the bell/and I am the tongue of the bell, ringing you. I looked the poem up later and its not that great but damn, that line is sexy hot.
between48: Reminds me of another sex poem: License my roving hands, and let them go/Behind, before, above, between, below.
What can be sexier than … hula?!?!
To need or to slide

I’m going with “laughing”. Some of my most special memories, that turned out to be way sexy, began and ended with laughing. They just turned into something else in the middle!
My word – Yummy.
Anticipate
I’m opting for “melt.”
I like “adore”
Agreed!
How ‘bout “to cherish.” When it’s obvious the woman is cherished by the man during a love scene, it makes it all that much better.
My word is caress. A brilliant word, it brings up the best mental pictures of seduction ;D
Also, has anyone else been wondering where the cover model’s other arm is? Is the heroine missing an arm? Did I miss that in the description of the book?
te adoro= I adore you. Now that’s sexy.
To slither
This morning…I’m going with tangle. I love it when hands tangle in hair, legs tangle together. Messy, wonderful tangling of bodies and hearts!
Scintillate is the first that comes to mind, just for the sound. For meaning, I don’t think you can beat touch.
To thrust 😀
To tickle – sexy and cute at the same time!
“to rumple”
I’d have to go with “cherish” as my favorite verb, as in “He cherished every moment he spent with the woman he loved.”
What could be better than thet?
Feel
Squirm. Anything that makes you hot enough to squirm is a very good thing.
Lust.
I haz it for the one dozen roses and the book. And a few other things these days. 😉
I thought of another one!
Roam
As in, hands roam or mouths roam or eyes roam or anything really. It appeals to the gypsy in me.
To relish
As in he relished in her, she relished in him, they relished in each other.
I have to go with…..nibble….or fervent (having or displaying a passionate intensity) oooooh my …what this brings to mind….
A nibble on the neck,
A heated gasp, a peck,
A whisper, a lover’s moan,
A fervent gaze, a muffled groan.
I’m going with “surrender”. Giving yourself up, letting yourself be overcome with feeling, with emotion… letting yourself be carried away. I think that’s sexy.
I’m not sure if this has already been suggested, but I think a super-sexy verb is “to yearn.”
Sometimes the sexiest moments in films for me are when the hero is just looking at the heroine—and his whole heart is in his eyes, and maybe they haven’t even kissed yet, but he’s just yearning for her with all of his being. Maybe there’s a strong undercurrent of physical lust (*fans self*), but it’s also about love and how much he needs her and how desolate he feels without her. Maybe they’re looking at each other that way—across a crowded room, desperate to be alone together.
So yeah: Gilbert on the bridge looking after Anne as she runs away from his marriage proposal. Johnny Castle leaning in to touch his forehead against Baby’s. All those moments in Bollywood films when Aamir or Shahrukh want to kiss the heroine’s lips but won’t. Mr. Darcy watching Elizabeth play the piano. Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeline Stowe watching each other. Logan watching Veronica. Alec Scudder grabbing Maurice’s hand in public. Moments like that: Suh-WOON.
To yearn.
nibble
writhe
This has got to be the hawtest comment thread ever.
/fans self/
I’ll go with “taste”.
I love the word Snuggle 🙂
Devour is mine!
CLAIM—so sexy with such deep emotion.
to writhe…in ecstacy
