Hanukkah, oh Hanukkah, there’s a lot of family during Hanukkah, so maybe it’s time to go hide and read.
To continue the festive merriment to celebrate reading, both paper and digital, I have a digital reader AND a case with a light – so you can hide in a closet and read. Not that I’ve ever done that, no. Not me!
All you have to do to win is leave a comment, and I’ll select a winner each day. These contests are open to international winners, and I will do my best to ship this week, provided people send me their addresses promptly.
Standard disclaimers apply: I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. If anything, my gift is exceptional support of the United States Postal Service (Happy Hanukkah, US Mail Carriers!). No shirt, no shoes, no service. Professional driver: do not attempt. Do not turn over. For ventilation, open window, or maybe a door.
Ahoy! Contest the sixth!
On the Sixth Night of Hanukkah, Smart Bitches Gave to Me: A refurbished Sony 300 Pocket, with a new case with an onboard light. Note: this is not the touchscreen Pocket; this is the previous model with the buttons. And, it is PINK. (I love this shade of pink on the Sonys. It’s awesome.)
Just leave a comment below, and tell me your favorite place to hide and read, and you’re entered to win. Comments close in 24 hours, but fear not, there’s another book – paper or digital – giveaway coming soon. Because Hanukkah lasts for eight crazy nights, and I will admit, I’m having a good time over here.
Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Reading!

Thanks so very much for the giveaway.
Love & Hugs,
Pam

It’s not exactly hiding, but I love to lay in bed with the electric blanket on and have my feet be warm for the first time all day.
I would love a Sony e-reader! When I was growing up, my favoritest place to read ever during a rain storm was the covered back porch. Grapevines grew along one side of the porch, and there was a porch swing. It was its own little world.
Yay Hanukkah! My favorite place to hide and read is a little nook at work that is tucked away behind our call center. Our director laughingly calls it our living room, but it’s a cozy little spot where I can retreat from all all the voices clamoring for my attention when the days are ridiculously crazy.
The school library is my current hidey hole. The shelves on the lower floor move around so they can store more books, and it’s more than possible to completely enclose yourself in shelves and create a little nest that other people can’t see or find easily.
Otherwise, i’m usually on the couch with a fuzzy blanket, a fuzzy sweater and a fuzzy pillow.
I love reading in bed. The only problem is I stay up all night reading instead of sleeping. People can always tell when I do this, although I have no idea how. 😉
The tub, definitely!
I’m sad to see all these festivities come to an end. Thanks so much for everything!!!
In my bed under my down comforter
I always hide in the bathroom to read. Both my bathrooms have stacks of books in them. It’s a trait I picked up from my mother, who used to hide in the bathroom to get away from us kids 🙂
I wish I didn’t have to hide to read more than a few pages at a time but sadly I do and it’s usually the bathroom or the garage.
My favorite place is uncreatively enough, tucked away in my room under the covers. But I’ve also been known to go lock myself in the car with a book when I need a few minutes quiet time!
At the office I have a double cubicle (because I’m responsible for a lot of records and didn’t have space with just one) and I’ve got an extra chair… when I sit at the back section of my cubicle, no one can see me and everyone thinks I’m not at my desk 🙂 Makes for peaceful lunches.
At home I’ve got a comfy armchair in the nook next to my fireplace in the bedroom.
Ooo! Pretty!
Hmm… favorite place to hide and read is probably either curled up in bed or downstairs in the living room, wrapped up in a blanket late at night.
Bed. I’m an insomniac, and all the sleep experts say you shouldn’t read in bed – it revs your brain up – but I love to be clean and sleepy and curl up in bed with a book – paper or ebook makes no never mind to me, long as I’m under my thick comforter and I have all my pillows around me.
I’m going to have to go with listing 3 of my favorite spots. In nice weather, my back yard at my table which has really comfy chairs, my couch, lounging on my left side on top of comfy pillows, and the third is in bed, laying on my stomach, my husband rigged up a small light attached to the headboard so that I can read all night if I want. Love that man!! 🙂
My backyard! No one in my family likes to go outside, so it’s perfect!
Our spare room has a bed right up under the window, which gets the most sun in the whole house. Is an awesome place to sit and read- with bonus that no one ever looks for you in the spare room.
My favorite place to hide and read is a tiny bakery by my apartment with cozy couches and hot apple cider and fresh baked chocolate cookies!
I play tired and go to bed early. Then I stay up till the wee hours of the morning reading.
On chilly winter evenings, I like to sit on a cushion on the floor next to the hot air vent in the living room. Toasty warm, out of the way, and easy to tune out whatever else is going on in the house!
I still hide under the covers and read. Guess I should grow out of that soon…
There was a coffee shop I used to frequent, the second floor was quiet, filled with comfy chairs and offered a lovely view of the street below… It was my favorite spot to read and watch the world go by.
My bedroom is where I like to go and read. Unfortunately it doesn’t keep the kids out but it works.
I used to read in the bathroom (we have a pretty large master bath so I actually have a chair in there, and the husband uses the hallway bath so I pretty much can be in there as long as I want!) However, since getting my Kindle, I’ve been reading in my little corner of our couch in the bedroom nook, and it’s very cozy!
I’ll read anywhere, don’t need to hide it. I have been know to arrive late to some parties having to finish the end of a good book, making some other excuse for being late as some nonreaders just don’t understand. Love pink.
Alas, I have no good reading hidey-holes at the moment. I need one, though.
My bedroom with my door locked. 🙂 If the weather is nice, outside on the patio or at the park.
My favorite place is the beach, but I don’t live near a beach most of the time. Sigh. Could you throw in a beach with the Sony? Or am I getting greedy?
When I am back home visiting my parents I like to hide upstairs on the couch known in our family as the big comfy couch (you know that couch that is too ugly for non-family members to see, but it so super comfy you can’t bear to get rid of it?).
The bathtub! Not sure if the e-reader would survive that though…
there’s this tiny corner of my college library, over by the records and record players and behind the librarians offices that i love to go to. no one goes there and its so quiet. plus theres a killer wifi signal there.
I read at my work waiting for a ride home. Thanks for the giveaway.

Any time I can carve out just a few minutes of quiet time for reading that is my favorite reading spot.
Lying in my bed surrounded by pillows..
It’s pink and shiny and I want it.
My hiding spots – the bathroom and my husband’s office.
My favorite reading places are on my bed, a chair or on the couch.
Don’t have a hiding place to read.
I would love to win the Sony 300 Pocket!!!
I got in so much trouble in middle school when I was caught reading and walking to school..I never understood why my Mom freaked on that one. I read everywhere nowadays and everyone expects it. I read while watching tv, I read while stirring the pot( literally), I read while blow drying my hair..it’s a sickness
My front room has an old squashy cat-clawed armchair that I have been meaning to recover for ages. I love curling up there with a book because it feels like a hidden nook.
When I was a teen, I would hide away up in a big ol’ tree and read (ah, so romantic). Now that I am an old married woman with 10 month old twins.. I hide in the bathroom and read. The hubby thinks I am taking a bath and the babies don’t have a clue where to find me…heh heh heh.
