    Goodnight Tweethearts!

I like the feel of small towns due to the community size, but would rather have things set in a metro type area.

  2. Cheryl McInnis says:

Love small town romances featuring a hero or heroine who has returned from “the big city”. If the story is part of a series even better! 🙂

  3. I’m a sucker for small town romances, especially series, like Virgin River.

  4. Sarah W says:

I have a thing about cruise ships, myself—-which come to think are just floating small towns.

    So . . . small towns.

  5. I love Contemps!  I don’t have a favorite location, I’m pretty good with anything – except boats.  I don’t know why 🙂

  6. Alaina says:

small towns are usually my favorite settings.

  7. Bri says:

Although i seem to like all things contemporary, I love big cities the best, even better if it is a specific city, especially NYC!  there is just so much more going on in a big city that can play into the plot and make it sooo interesting.

  8. AmberG says:

Definitely big cities. There’s a lot to love about small towns, but I get so involved when i’m reading that I find myself irritated by all the nosy neighbours. Besides, i’ve never lived in a town. I relate more to city settings.

  9. Genevieve says:

I’m reading The Devil Wears Plaid now I’d give Teresa Medeiros another go.

  10. Galadriel says:

Small towns in space! …On a giant space-cruise ship.

Uh, ok, not really, more like I enjoy small town settings, or ranch/agricultural settings, *or* something in space. Cities are ok, but they tend to either fade into the background (because they’re so large, and it’s not like anyone knows everyone) or become a character on their own, so I prefer something a little more isolated to provide for more time for character development.

  11. Michelle W says:

Cities and Seattle in particular.  One day I hope to go and visit and is all thanks to Jayne Ann Krentz painting such a fascinating picture of it in her books!

  12. H says:

I think I prefer rural environments, but it’s not a strong preference.

  13. Eleine says:

Small towns. As someone who has lived in a big city all her life, small town settings offer something different from what I’m used to. Better if it’s a town not too far from the city. 😀

  14. Hydecat says:

Small towns! So much opportunity to sexily run into each other!

  15. KCfla says:

I like just about any setting, so long as the author makes me feel like I’m there. Or at least I can visualize having been there.
And boy- howdy- I’d love any of these books, since they all look wonderful!

  16. G Rae says:

Ooooh, contemps!  My favorite!  I prefer the intimacy of small town settings because we often get a lot of endearing characters along with the h/h.

  17. Emma_I says:

I prefer city settings, but I’m not too fussed as long as it’s a good book.

  18. Diatryma says:

I like the families.  Smallish towns with close-knit people are lots of fun.

  19. CMD says:

I like cities. I grew up in a city of 6.5 million people in 900 square kilometres (Hong Kong), so the concept of a small town is completely foreign to me. What do yo mean you know everyone and everyone knows you and absolutely everything about you? *shudder*

But hey, as long as the book is good, I guess I’d have no complaints 🙂

  20. Trish says:

I prefer small towns, esp. small western towns.

  21. Kbrum says:

Contemps set in remote places I like. Westerns coastals all ok. Holiday settings ok too. BUT….Definitely NOT offices and especially not between coworkers. Urghghgh. Creepy. Plus such couples IRL are big pains to work with.

  22. Susan Laura says:

I like “coming home” settings. Could be to a small town or a big city or a space station!

  23. Virg says:

I love small towns, where people call each other by their first names (The Bachelor/The Playboy by Carly Phillips), and cities (this was due largely because of Just the Sexiest Man Alive, loved the LA scene there).

  24. Laura Henderson says:

Oh, most definitely small towns.  Everyone knows everyone and it just seems to be more intimate.  Usually the guy and gal have known each other for years but not until they get older do they REALLY get to know each other!  🙂

  25. Jenn L says:

Small Towns for sure. I live in a bigger town so I have always been interested in that small town feel where everyone knows who you are.

  26. eaeaea says:

Cities – definitely. And to be specific – I can tell you what rooms in big cities…
I prefer locker rooms – think SEP’s Chicago Stars football series, Jill Shalvis’ Pacific Heat baseball series.

  27. Judy says:

Well…romance is romance!  But since i have to choose i will choose a city where there are lots of people and lots to do.

  28. Kathy says:

Either small towns or secluded spots.  Like small cabin in the woods, tent in the desert, tree house in the rain forest.  So you really get to know the main characters without the distraction of the “best friend.”

  29. Virginia Hendricks says:

I love reading contemporaries.  I honestly like them set in small towns.  Its interesting to read about love in smaller town unlike reading about love in NYC.

  30. I enjoy a lot of different settings, but if I have to choose, I’d say small towns.

  31. Dayna says:

I love contemporaries.  I like small towns and big cities as long as the relationship between H/h is believable.

  32. R.J. says:

I am a city girl through and through, so I understand people who live in the city better.  However, my favorite contemporaries are Jill Shalvis’ Wilder brother series, her Sky High series, and Nora Robert’s Bride Quartet.  These are not in a big city, but the setting doesn’t really influence the story much.

  33. Zsa Zsa says:

space stations? that’d be kinda cool but i prefer cities, big cities. bigger the better, so much to see.

  34. Denise says:

    Small towns, smallish cities.

  35. Anna says:

I love small towns, I’ve never lived in one, so I can believe that they really are that quaint and close knit.

  36. Hope says:

I love the small city stories, especially the ones where everyone knows each other and you always have a couple of residents that like to meddle in everyone’s business.  Makes for good stories, but real life, not so much.

  37. Ashley says:

I don’t really care what the setting is as long as it’s done well and the relationship is great.  That said, one of my favorites was set in a casino, a NR MacGregor where the eager 2nd grade teacher meets the casino owner (Darcy and Mac?).  I really like La Nora’s settings.

  38. Amy P. says:

I love small, quirky beach towns.  Something about the sun, surf and sand that gets me!

  39. Jen H says:

Love the small town where everyone knows your bidness, especially if set in the South and full of “quirky” characters.  Bonus: if the h/h knew eachother as kids/teens and are reunited after years of misunderstanding/turmoil:)

growth54: I have to wait ‘til I’m 54 to “get my growth”??? SO wrong!

  40. Leslie says:

I like small towns the best especially when it’s a series and we get to know the locals and revisit with them and the couples from previous books.
