Smart Bitches Hanukkah Festival Giveaway: Part One!

imageHanukkah oh Hanukkah, you’re early as what the hell now this year! Which means… it’s fun and games time here at the Hot Pink Palace of Bitchery!

Tonight begins the festival of Hanukkah, wherein Jewish folks light the menorah, consume fried things, and celebrate for eight nights. And since the Jewish folks are known as The People of the Book, I figured, let’s celebrate reading, eh? I’ve been saving up items all year for the festive merriment to celebrate reading, both paper and digital. Are you ready to rumble? I hope so!

These contests are super easy. All you have to do to win is leave a comment, and I’ll select a winner each day. These contests are open to international winners, and I will do my best to ship this week, provided people send me their addresses promptly.

Standard disclaimers: I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. If anything, my gift is exceptional support of the United States Postal Service (Happy Hanukkah, US Mail Carriers!). Despite popular wisdom, Jewish folks don’t traditionally dance the hora on Hanukkah. Your mileage may vary. Slippery when wet. Bon Jovi was not harmed in the making of this giveaway. Hanukkah candles never fit in the menorahs, no matter what you do. A latke a day is probably not good for your cardiovascular health.

Ahoy! Contest the first!

imageOn the First Night of Hanukkah, Smart Bitches Gave to Me: A brand spanking new Sony!

From the fine people at Sony, I have here a PRS-650, better known as the new Sony Touch. It’s red. It’s very sexy. And it can be yours as part of the Smart Bitches Hanukkah Festival.

Just leave a comment below, and tell me what book you’d buy or borrow first, and you’re entered to win. Comments close in 24 hours, but fear not, there’s another book – paper or digital – giveaway coming soon. Because Hanukkah lasts for eight crazy nights, and I have lost my ever lovin’ mind.

Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Reading!

Oh how I would love this!

The first book I would put on it?  I really don’t know.  I love Crusie books, then there is Pratchett, or Brockmann, or….  I would likely flip through recent reviews, find something by an author I have never read and try that one.

Hours42:need more than that to get through all the books I want to read

  2. Ridley says:

The first book I’d buy is Shannon Stacey’s Undeniably Yours, though I shouldn’t buy any more books at all until I’ve made more progress with my out of control TBR list.

  22. Bonnie says:

Ha!  Choose *one* book?!  My Goodreads to-read list is standing strong at 1270 books. 🙂

Honestly, though- if I’m lucky enough to get an ereader, I’ll probably pick one or two serious nonfiction in my field, 2-3 “pop” nonfiction (like Gladwell, or the “for dummies” equivalent of something I want to learn); and about 10-20 lighthearted fictional romps (I’m on a Meg Cabot kick right now, so I’d start there and just see what else struck my fancy)!

  23. Meghan Finnerty says:

this sounds like fun! my next book that i want to read is The Scarlet Contessa by Jeanne Kalogridis

  24. Jo says:

I would get Burning Up because I just read The Iron Duke and it was fantastic. (Thanks to everyone who was Thankful for it for pointing me in its direction)

  27. Pam P says:

Since Nalini’s next book isn’t out yet, I’d probably get In Too Deep by Krentz.  (Iron Duke is a fabulous book for those wanting it).  Happy Hanukkah!

  28. s'rah says:

As I’m laid up in bed with a neck injury, I have been unable to go to the library to wander the stacks in search of a new book and am in the need for some mindless fluff. Thus, I would have to say I would be inclined to want a yet unread feel-good, Jude Devereaux, like Lavender Morning.

  29. Ooo- the new Delilah Marvelle books sound good although I definitelyw wouldn’t be waiting until January to get my 1st book. I’d probably get Victoria Dahl’s latest, “A Little Bit Wild” because it’s next on my to be purchased list.

  30. Anna says:

I’d probably get the Iron Duke, because I like steampunk romance and I’ve read some great reviews of it.

  31. Amber says:

Something (or ANYthing!) by Lisa Kleypas!

  32. Daisy says:

Moning’s final installment of the Fever series.  I just need to read it and get this series over with once and for all!

  33. Jill DeBellis says:

    Thank you for the contests.

I would have to say if I had the choice to get some new books I would finish getting all of Christine Warren’s books. I have been really enjoying getting to know her charactors.

  34. Carolyn Hester says:

I’d definitely buy Dukes to the Left of Me, Princes to the Right by Kieran Kramer first! I just finished her first novel and I loved every frothy implausible awesome minute of it. Thanks for the contest!

  35. Kira says:

I would have to get Lois McMaster Bujold’s latest. Cryoburn is on my Xmas list but I bet no one gets it for me. I would have a good excuse!

  36. A Silent Blade by Ilona Andrews.  It’s the only story they’ve written I haven’t read because it’s only available as an ebook.

  37. OMG – pick me! Pick me!! The Sony reader is actually the one I have decided is the one for me.

I have been keeping a list of all the books you’ve reviewed well recently and right now SEVEN NIGHTS TO FOREVER is at the top of the list. Can’t you just see that cover on this lovely reader?

  38. Abby Normal says:

I loaned my copy of Lord of Scoundrels to a friend who never gave it back. I don’t mind if she keeps it, but I’d buy myself a new one first thing, because I’m dying to reread it.

  39. gremlin says:

ooh!  if i got an eReader, i’d probably go ahead and buy Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead (which comes out next week) instead of ordering the hardback.

    number99: uh, no.  waaaay past #99.  🙂

  40. orangehands says:

    Oh awesome.

Happy Hannukah! (Seriously though, it is waaaay too early this year. We still have turkey leftovers.)

The next e-book on my to-buy list is the sequel to Talker (which may or may not be called Talker II) by Amy Lane. Brian is seriously on my short list of favorite heroes right now.
