Smart Bitches Hanukkah Festival Giveaway: Part Eight!

imageHanukkah, oh Hanukkah, it’s time for the fun to end. Had enough? One more? Sure!

One last giveaway as part of the festive merriment to celebrate reading, both paper and digital, I have a digital reader that’s rather awesome, but getting hard to find.

All you have to do to win is leave a comment, and I’ll select a winner each day. These contests are open to international winners, and I will do my best to ship this week, provided people send me their addresses promptly.

Standard disclaimers apply: I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. If anything, my gift is exceptional support of the United States Postal Service (Happy Hanukkah, US Mail Carriers!). Digital or paper reading is awesome, but you knew that. Love is a battlefield.

Ahoy! Contest the eighth!

ETA: It’s not over until it’s OVER – I have a $50.00 gift card to the eHarlequin bookstore, thanks to the fine folks at Harlequin! So! Since folks have awesomeness in store if they win, I’m going to extend the contest for a few hours extra, and the winner will get both the awesome prize below AND the $50 gift card. WOO HOO! Happy Hanukkah from Harlequin!

imageOn the Eighth Night of Hanukkah, Smart Bitches Gave to Me: A new-in-box Silver Sony 505. I have a big soft spot for this reader: clear screen, memory slots, slim but portable.

Just leave a comment below, and tell me what you’re wishing for most this holiday season, if you’re celebrating, and you’re entered to win. Comments close in 24 hours, but fear not, there’s another book – paper or digital – giveaway coming soon. Because Hanukkah lasts for eight crazy nights, and I have lost my ever lovin’ mind.

Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Reading!

Time with my sweetheart—and if I can’t have that,  a way to stay calm! 😉

  2. AnnaM says:

We are trying to move and so we are purging like Stalin around here.  It is apparent that my favorite things (books and yarn) are the last things I need more of.

I think if I could wish for anything at all, I would wish for a daughter.  I have two awesome sons but with them, the husband, the dog and the cat I’m TOTALLY OUTNUMBERED.  We always said we would have three kids but now I’m 39, I’ve gotten pregnant 5 times and have 2 kids to show for it.  The years are ticking mercilessly away.

As a backup Christmas wish, I wish for my husband to find a job he really loves that doesn’t tear up his body like his current one.  He’s a video engineer and loading that equipment in and out of venues has messed him up.

  3. Patsy says:

I’m hoping taht my government job doesn’t get cut, and that we get furloughs instead.  I would totally buy more vacation days.  Last year, I wished to get this job, and I got it (on Christmas Eve!), and this year, wishing to keep it.  Yeesh.

  4. Emma says:

A couple of gift cards to expensive places so I don’t feel guilty when I decide to splurge after the holidays.  That and an A in organic chemistry will make my (new) year.

  5. Brenda says:

I just wanted to say that I hope you had a happy Hanukkah, and may you have a wonderful new year.

  6. Jinx says:

A nice rich, pleasent looking British man who adores me no matter what and an unlimited supply of dark chocolate.

Or in reality, I just want a nice relaxing day.

  7. angela g (idaho) says:

I’m wishing for good things to finally visit my corner of the universe.  A permanent job, money left over to go on an actual vacation and my ex finally realizing that he has children and they need to speak to him and not just get a card on christmas and their birthdays.

  8. KellyM says:

I would really love to get an e-reader for Christmas, and I’m not just saying that because that’s the prize here.  I’ve been putting it off because I knew it would distract me from studying.  But since I’m scheduled to graduate in February (pending passage of my current and last class), I should be able to start reading lots more for fun soon.  Can’t wait!!!

  9. Dear Santa, please bring money. I’m paying for my daughter’s wedding on January 8th. And tuition. I’ll leave out the good Scotch. Thanks!

Spam word: students59 – She’s getting her masters. It feels like I’m paying for 59 students!

  10. poison says:

dear santa! you don’t have to bring me anything, as long as you take something away. i wish, i wish… for my period to finally be late. nine months late. 😉 oh, yeah, and a baby in september.

    confirmation code: worked53
    – is that a prophecy? 😉

  11. Cris_R_Chisholm says:

I’ve been hinting for vacation time with the family. A cruise to Ensenada/Caribbean would be lovely this holiday season.

    Happy Holidays everyone!

  12. I have my 20 week ultrasound on Dec. 23rd (I’ll be just about 22 weeks though) and I’m hoping for a boy!!!!

All the gear, outfits and bedding I’ve looked at has been all boy! I’m hoping that’s a sign of what’s inside. We have a 6 yo girl already so it would be nice to have a boy this go around. But we’ll take a girl too, of course!

Other than spending time with family this holiday season that’s what I’m looking forward to most!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  13. Sweet Potato says:

Well…more books would be nice, but I’m really hoping my fiancee comes down to see me. 6 more months until my wedding!! 🙂  Lord, I miss him.

  14. cin says:

There are so, so many things that I think I want, material and emotional, for myself and for others.  But maybe, after reading some of these comments, what I need to wish for the most is that I remember to be grateful for all the amazing things I have already and appreciate the moments (and gifts) that come, instead of trying to achieve some impossible fantasy of how the holidays should go.  So, I wish to be able to be the best me I can be and to live in (and enjoy) the present.  Starting today!  If that even makes sense….

  15. DeeCee says:

A new quilting box to store all my supplies.

  16. Charity G. says:

I’m wishing I could go home to see my family. Moved across the country almost a year ago and can’t afford to travel back for the holidays 🙁

  17. Ann W. says:

I can’t complain about my life and I’m lucky to have a healthy and happy family. For some reason I want a pillow pet (the turtle’s pretty darn cute) and I can’t seem to justify it on a limited budget…and there’s always the Sony Reader, of course.

  18. Lori says:

The thing I most wish for this season is for my family’s continued good health and happiness. Seeing how much unhappiness there is in the world really makes me want to insulate my kids and make their lives perfect, even though I can’t. So I have to hope and pray for it.

Thanks for your awesome Hanukkah celebration this year!

  19. Maria says:

I wish that my dd has a grate holiday. oh and a job would be nice. for me an ipod touch or an ipad.

  20. megalith says:

I know it’s a downer, but the thing I most want for this holiday season is a job.

Happy end of Hanukkah, lead up to Christmas, or holidays in general, all!

  21. ks says:

I really, really just want a couple of days all to myself, with no kids or husbands or mothers in law talking to me and asking me to do stuff for them.  And warm weather in which to enjoy those couple of days.

I’m not going to get either of those things, but I can wish.

  22. megalith says:

Well, moderation ate my comment, so happy holidays, all!

  23. All I’m wishing for this Hanukkah is more royalties. Which means more people are buying my books. That’s all.

I’d love an e-reader, though. My arm cramps up when I hold my iPod for too long!

  24. Charlotte says:

I never know what exactly I want for the holidays, other than the usual happy holiday break for family and friends, etc. This year, though, I’m hoping the violence in Mexico dies down so I can go meet my grandparents for the first time. Not looking likely, but hopefully I can go next Easter instead. 😀
Other than that, I always need more books in my life. And socks! I know, I know, lame, but this December hit with a full-on cold front and I’ve been doubling up on socks but, I tell you, it does nothing.

Thanks for these giveaways Smart Bitches!!

  25. Stacy says:

We’re going on vacation on Jan 1st, so I’m hoping for an e-reader to make my packing a little easier!

  26. Elaine R says:

My only wish is for my grandmother to get well and to stay out of the hospital.  I keep telling her there are better places to visit and that the hospital wasn’t a spa, but she just won’t listen.

    Feliz Navidad!

  27. Jana says:

OHHHHH, me, pick me!  Pick me!  As this is the last night of Hanukkah, what a great present this would be!  All your gifts have been amazing so far, I hope that you get to do this next year too!  I am excited to spend time with the family, though, my hubby has been trying to convince us girls (wife, plus 2 girls, he is hosed) that we want to spend the Holiday’s in Hawaii!  We said no, we want to hang out with the family.  Strange but true.

  28. Leslie says:

I really really want my cool sister who lives 1/2 the country away with my awesome 3 year old niece and quirky brother-in-law and works at a job she hates to be offered (out of the blue) an awesome job within a couple hours drive of my house.

  29. I am celebrating Hannukah! Tonight I will light the candles and share their light with my 2 year old grand daughter. Yes, life is sweet. I’m dreaming of making an awesome illustrated story app in 2011. That’s what I want for the holidays. Can you arrange that?

  30. S.E. says:

I’m the youngest in the family and for once this year, I’m the one buying the “big ticket” items instead of expecting to receive any. I spent about 3 months selling all my stuff on ebay to make it a surprising xmas for my family. Can’t wait! (I did ask for people to buy me books though, gotta love the Amazon wish list feature).

  31. LisaA says:

I really don’t mean to sound cheesy or self righteous, but I have health, the love of a wonderful man & family, a good job, a roof over my head, and food on my table…there is nothing I truly need or want beyond this.  But I do wish these blessings for those that may not be so fortunate.

  32. Alpha Lyra says:

What I want most for Christmas—some quiet, kid-free time! And maybe a nice romance novel to go along with it :).

  33. LoriA says:

I’ve heard such great things about the 505. What an awesome gift.

    Happy Hannukah!

  34. AndreaZ says:

What do I want?  Hm.  I wouldn’t mind an e-reader for sure.  I think that what I want most though is decent traveling weather, at least for the holiday season.

    Thanks for the fantastic giveaways!

  35. Danielle (no, not that Danielle, the other one) says:

My husband & I bought our one big present to/for each other last month; it’s a new couch, which we desperately need. Now my wish is that it arrives before our annual enormous Boxing Day brunch.

Then, after brunch, I can lie on it & read a book on that silver Sony 505!

  36. Ahlison says:

As a spinster, I tend to buy my own presents and don’t wait for Christmas.  This year I splurged and bought myself a new nikon SLR last month.  I think this camera and all the associated bits and pieces will be my Christmas and birthday presents this year.

  37. Trippinoutmysoul says:

I’ve got my fingers crossed for the new Cricut Imagine. I scrapbook, and I made all my Christmas cards this year…Imagine what possibilities the new Cricut machine will open up.

  38. My biggest wish is that my son start giving me regular, longer naps.  This mom needs some time to decompress.

  39. sandyl says:

I’m not much of a Holiday person. But gift cards are always welcome. Especially if they involve books.

  40. Tamara S says:

I would like time off from work.  Other than that, I’d like a new-in-box Silver Sony 505 🙂
