Smart Bitches Hanukkah Festival Giveaway: Part Eight!

imageHanukkah, oh Hanukkah, it’s time for the fun to end. Had enough? One more? Sure!

One last giveaway as part of the festive merriment to celebrate reading, both paper and digital, I have a digital reader that’s rather awesome, but getting hard to find.

All you have to do to win is leave a comment, and I’ll select a winner each day. These contests are open to international winners, and I will do my best to ship this week, provided people send me their addresses promptly.

Standard disclaimers apply: I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. If anything, my gift is exceptional support of the United States Postal Service (Happy Hanukkah, US Mail Carriers!). Digital or paper reading is awesome, but you knew that. Love is a battlefield.

Ahoy! Contest the eighth!

ETA: It’s not over until it’s OVER – I have a $50.00 gift card to the eHarlequin bookstore, thanks to the fine folks at Harlequin! So! Since folks have awesomeness in store if they win, I’m going to extend the contest for a few hours extra, and the winner will get both the awesome prize below AND the $50 gift card. WOO HOO! Happy Hanukkah from Harlequin!

imageOn the Eighth Night of Hanukkah, Smart Bitches Gave to Me: A new-in-box Silver Sony 505. I have a big soft spot for this reader: clear screen, memory slots, slim but portable.

Just leave a comment below, and tell me what you’re wishing for most this holiday season, if you’re celebrating, and you’re entered to win. Comments close in 24 hours, but fear not, there’s another book – paper or digital – giveaway coming soon. Because Hanukkah lasts for eight crazy nights, and I have lost my ever lovin’ mind.

Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Reading!

Right this second, my biggest wish is that my persistent sore throat would go away.  Beyond that… I’d love to a professional organizer in to organize my home!

  2. Raine says:

I think the thing I am wishing for most this year is for my husband to be able to keep working until I get out of school. But as far as material things go, I would like an upright freezer. I’m too short to get things out of the bottom of a chest freezer so it needs to be upright. I drive my husband nuts with asking for these things because he thinks it is some type of test and you’re really not supposed to buy your wife appliances. Poor man..

  3. Courtney says:

All the books on my wishlist

  4. Jen H says:

I’m hoping for my mom’s double-knee-replacement surgery on 12/23 to be a success so she can get past being in constant pain and be semi-active again.  World peace is always a nice dream, too, but somehow I don’t think this is the year.  Maybe next year?

born66: um, no, actually it was ‘72…but, close enough for government work, I guess!

  5. Overquoted says:

I agree, The 505 is awesome.

  6. Amy P. says:

I guess a clean house is too much to ask for (I’ve tried every year and Santa hasn’t delivered!!) . . . so, this year I’m hoping for a new camera lens for my camera.  And, a yummy dinner – when I don’t have to clean the kitchen.  And, just because I”ve been really good this year, I’m going to try again for a CLEAN HOUSE!!

  7. michellekcanada says:

I would love a fully $$$ loaded Amazon gift card so I can buy as many books as my little heart desires.

  8. CMD says:

I’m wishin’ for a lack of family drama—and $$$ to make up for the recent (and likely ongoing) haemorrhaging of my credit card due to scuba diving expenses. Next up: a diving trip to Fiji in October… my poor graduate student stipend is going to have a hard time handling that. Maybe if I starve until then? 🙂

  9. Sarah, not Sarah says:

I’m hoping for some peace and quiet and

    ::edits::

maybe some understanding from the kitties that keyboards are not for walking on.

  10. Kate L says:

I’m actually just wishing that my depression is mellow enough that I can really enjoy the holidays.

And, I suppose, that our cookie smackdown competition on Sunday brings a lot of nut-free ones for me to try 🙂

  11. Amanda says:

I’m wishing to relax a little this holiday.  I’m writing a journal article which has been distracting me from everyone around me and I feel like I’ve lost touch a little bit.  But I can’t wait to make and decorate Christmas cookies with my mother (even though our cookies never look quite right) and go ice skating with a best friend that I only get to see a few times a year.  (I want to be a lawyer, she wants to be a nuclear scientist.)

  12. Kathy says:

I want a subscription to National Geographic.  I love to look at all the pics, then go back and read the articles.  But, alas, the magazine does not last as long as I would like.

  13. RebL says:

I am wishing for more snow!  I need a snowy Christmas and all the snowstorms keep travelling around my city.
Give me 6inches of snow for christmas please 😀

  14. snethet says:

I wish for a peaceful day on Christmas (read no mother in law drama) and that my very smart son gets the scholarship he needs.

  15. Ali says:

I’m wishing for a quiet Christmas with family and lots of books to read.

  16. Nancie B. says:

I’m hoping to finally spend the holidays @ home.  This will be the first year in a while that I’m not working.  I can’t wait to be lazy, and enjoy Christmas morning and not have to worry about rushing out @ 7 a.m. to work.  I get to be with my kids!!  Whoot!!

  17. CecilyH says:

All I want for Christmas is hot cocoa, a warm throw, a steamy historical….and the PEACE to enJOY them!  An E-reader would be the whipped cream on top.

  18. Sadiana says:

I’m totally lame. All I want for X-mas is a rice cooker.

    Later!

  19. Peggy says:

I’ve got what I most want my children all home for the holidays.  So I’ll settle for my second big wish

drop dead gorgeous wealthy man to sweep me off my feet and banish any thought of celibacy as a life style that I’ve ever had.

  20. Jenn L says:

Right now I’m just hoping that my hubby and i have jobs this christmas. he and I are both waiting to find out if our respective jobs will be laying us off. I work in local government and we have no money and a big budget short fall.

Aside form thata peaceful day with my family, too much to eat and a few presents would make my christmas grand.

Happy Holiday to all of you!

  21. Joy says:

Would love to start the new year with this to read a great romance book=)

  22. Jen B. says:

My answer is different every day.  Today’s answer is…
    A CLEAN HOUSE!
Really, it’s at the top of my wish list right now.
Thanks for the great contest.  I am sorry to see it end:(

  23. Elizabeth says:

I’m hoping I can get from Chicago to Connecticut to Chicago to McHenry to Chicago to Dallas and back home in one piece, without losing my wallet or my mind.

  24. Nat says:

2010 has kind of blown : /. I’m wishing for a peaceful and crisis free 2011 with lots of time to read and time to spend with family.

  25. Kimberly says:

I’m trying to work up my Merry for the kids.  I’m wishing for a medical slam dunk for my husband.

  27. srs says:

The thing I’m most wishing for is an ebook reader, but since Hanukkah is essentially over, I don’t think it is going to happen this year. Other than that, I just want a good visit w/my family next week. I moved to the other side of the country recently for work and was surprised by just how much I miss my family and friends back home.

  28. Abbie says:

My biggest wish is for an e-reader. Nook is my first pick, but at this point I’m not being too picky.

  29. SandyH says:

I am looking forward to seeing my boys and my daughter-in-law. I just want everyone to arrive and get home safely. it is a joy to have family at Christmas.

  30. jdrn says:

How, exactly, do you select a winner? Does my comment have to be scintillating?

  31. KTG says:

This year I’m most wishing for my kids to have a good Christmas. We are traveling home to Washington state to spend the holiday with my parents because my husband is stationed in Kuwait until the Spring. It’s been a hard year for my kids and I hope more than anything to see them smile on Christmas morning. Thank god for Skype and the internet, otherwise they wouldn’t get to see their dad at all while he is away.

  32. Jennie M. G. says:

I wish I could spend more time with my family. I don’t get to see them as much these days so I hope I enjoy my short holiday break with them.

  33. FranceneL says:

I wish our basement would be painted, carpeted and have a new ceiling for Christmas.  Then we could send the kids downstairs and have the whole floor to ourselves for a few hours. I’ve also been saving up pop cans and collecting the deposit money for an ereader.  Got a ways to go yet so this would be wonderful. Wishing all the folks here in the thread the holiday that they wish for or need. Peace and joy to you all!

  34. AR says:

I’m really looking forward to Christmas Eve, when the extended family gets together.  It’s the only time we do it all year, and it’s loads of fun, with great food.  Can’t wait!

  35. Heather M says:

I’m hoping for gift certificates to the local fabric store.  I have a role in the local renaissance faire coming up in February and I need to make new garb!

  36. helen says:

I wish for for everyone to be as happy during the holiday season as I am! And as long as we’re wishing, I’ll throw in a wish for peace.

  37. Erica H says:

A Christmas with no family fights, and a alot of laughter!

  38. luvslove says:

we’re due to move to another place 500kms away in 2 weeks time…  an e-reader to wile away the hours of the drive to the new place would be really nice 🙂

  39. Angie Gipson says:

2+ weeks to go till Christmas. Done shopping. Got the kiddo’s Christmas presents done.I would love for little magical fairies or is it brownies? to come visit and clean and declutter. Then it would be bright and shiny and there would be peace in the land ruled by that half crazed woman who answer to the name of Mom!

I wish Palm would support my TX so I don’t have to figure out which reader to replace it with. I LOVE it, its so multi-functional yet refuses to talk to win 7. I even tried to bribe it with cookies, but no deal 🙂

Shalom to you and yours, may your oil never never dry, and your path always be lighted.

  40. Victoria says:

Recently thing have really been coming together for me. All I want for Christmas is for the same to happen for my mom. Don’t get me wrong, there are some material things I’d enjoy (such as an e-reader) but they arnt necessary for my enjoyment of the holidays.
