Since I did a straight week-plus of giveaways for Hanukkah, I figured I should have a present for you for Christmas. How about a chance to win a generation 3 Kindle? My favorite gift I gave this year was a vase made of Ryukyuan Glass here in Okinawa, Japan. I sent it to my Grandmother in Maryland, who has never left the country and has been sending care packages to us during our deployment here, to let us know we’re loved and missed.
I’ve given myself the gift of cutting back on all the hustle and bustle and concentrating more on family and friends. Just trying to relax and enjoy the season—lights, music, some good eats, and favorite holiday tv/movie classics!
The best gift I am giving away for Christmas this year is a set of Dr. Seuss books. I remember learning to read with The Cat In The Hat and Hop on Pop, etc. I hope the young reader will love them as much as I did.

I got a great deal on a cashmere scarf that I’m giving my mom.
I’m giving a hand-made blanket to my parents. Because I made it at college, they don’t actually know about it, which is really cool.
So far, my best present this year was a copy of the artist’s book that my best friend made for her book arts program last year. I was one of her readers/commenters for her text and design, and I though it turned out brilliantly. I got a signed copy (along with a few other books from her) this Xmas. 😀
My favorite gift received this year was a lovely shawl my mother bought in Turkey – it is warm, and soft, and beautifully patterned. But a kindle would be really cool, too 😉
Favorite gift given: I gave my sister Lady GaGa tickets. Of course I’m going with her too!

I got my hands on some really hard to find records of a band my parents really like. I’m excited to see their faces come Christmas morning!
my favorite gift I gave was to my daughter-in-law, a mp3 player because we both love audio books.
my mom gave me a combined christmas and birthday gift of a trip to cuba! we leave the 30th, so we’re spending new year’s there. we were going to be going with my best friend and her mom, but my best friend’s boyfriend had the horrible christmas news of being diagnosed with cancer. a cancer diagnosis isn’t a death sentence, but it certainly reminded me to be so thankful for everything i do have.
so really, even though it’s a cliche, i’m just so happy to spend time with family and friends and enjoy everything life has to offer.
My favorite gift given is a six shot nerf gun I gave to a coworker. So much fun!
I loved giving my husband a touring atlas of Australia so we can plan all our trips from now until we drop off.
My favorite was the two ornaments, a nutcracker and a rag doll, I decorated to look like zombies for my zombie-loving friends 🙂

Fav gift was my new desktop for my birthday.
My favourite gift this year is a porcelain cookie dish hand-painted by my grandmother. She died yesterday so I can’t ever thank her for it, but I will always treasure it as the last thing she ever gave me.
I made a customized bobblehead to look like my boyfriend…he’s been wanting one ever since he saw Fargo (on the TV show Eureka) has one on his desk. It’s fantastically awesome…I think he will love it. But if he doesn’t, I get to keep it—because having a little version of him on MY desk would make me ecstatic! 🙂
Favorite gift so far: the Pink Martini Christmas cd that my husband bought at the mall because he remembered I wanted it, even though he doesn’t like Christmas music much.
oooh! I’d love to win this. My bff is one of the most intense readers ever and she STILL doesn’t have an e-reader! I think this would make a great holiday gift for her!
The best gift I’ve given this year is not participating in the cookie exchange at work. No one has to eat my really bad baking! The best gifit I’ve received this is is not having to bake 15 dozen cookies!!
I had business cards printed up for my DH’s home computer consulting business – he’s going to be so surprised!
Favorite gift I gave this year was the large dinosaur plushie I crocheted for my niece, and it was pretty awesome. Although I think my brother-in-law loved it more than she did! 😀
OOOOO! OOOOOO! Pick me! Pick me! I gave my son new teeth!!! (paid the bill for his dental work after he went through rehab) That brings me to The Greatest Gift I Ever Recieved: his decision to get sober after 5 years on drugs. I told God I would never ask for another thing in my life. I have my son back!!
This started out as a true but light hearted entry but suddenly I realize just how LUCKY I am this Christmas!

My favorite this year is a vacuum cleaner. Mine has barely been holding on for the last few months.
I love getting UBS cards. Mostly, though, the best gift was air fare home from my parents-in-law, because it gave me time with my relatives.
Everyone in my family is happy and healthy this Christmas, so that is the best gift I could receive this year.
The best gift I’ve had was after a really shitty day, unexpectedly seeing my friends in soho and letting me join them looking like idiots while attempting to play pool. It was exactly what I needed.
I had a lot of fun making canvas market bags for everyone this Christmas – you know to put your groceries in, so you don’t have to choose “paper or plastic”. And I used fun fabrics to cover the canvas and make them unique. It was a hoot.
My favorite present, so far, this year (cause it’s only the 24th and I shouldn’t be peaking at the presents under the tree) was a $20 gift card given to me and another co-worker by the two new guys we have been training since July. It was completely unexpected, that and the gracious thank you note that came with it, along with the fact I knew both these guys were pinched for money, moved me with the generosity of the spirit of the season.
I’m giving my 3yo niece a teddy bear that’s bigger than she is wearing a giant pink bow that says “Princess” on it. Since she refuses to ever wear pants because “Princesses wear dresses” (even when they football tackle their older brothers), that’s my favorite gift. When she saw the box, she squealed “It’s so big I can sit in it!” (the true measure of any present) and bounced next to it for five minutes solid. 🙂

I was at the store and my grandma told me, “look buy two get one free! Honey pick out six books.” I was stoked so my granmda picked me up six book that I wanted 😉 Best present yet.
My favorite gift received was from myself….lol. Bought myself a Schwinn Upright Exercise Bike. I lost 15 lbs. so far, and I want to keep the streak going!

My favorite gift that I’m receiving this year is a beautiful diamond pendant from DH. He had a really amazing sale go through at the end of this year and told me he couldn’t have done it without me because I take care of our two special needs kids while he’s able to do what he needs to do. So he decided to do something really nice for me. I know what it is because we shopped together because he is clue-less about jewelry. I think the last nice jewelry he bought me was my engagement ring 19 years ago! Feeling very lucky this holiday season!
I asked for a set of knives for the kitchen (which I need BAD) so I’m really looking forward to getting those.
My birthday is on Christmas so I usually share my special day opening presents with everyone else and thinking, “It’s MY fucking day!!”. As a surprise, my best friends threw me a party on the 22nd this year and the gifts were perfect. My love of the romance genre is well-known and often ridiculed. But this year, they all risked their reputations to buy me books with the most scandalous covers they could find! I couldn’t have been happier. Nothing says Christmas like curling up with “12 Wicked Nights”!
