  1. Patty H. says:

    Can’t stop laughing.
That Mr. Darcy got himself some mad skills.  Respek.

  2. Tina C. says:

Well, I don’t think that he’s ready for So You Think You Can Dance, but he could probably snag a spot on Dances With The Stars.

I kind of loved when he yelled at the blond to, “Shut the f- up, Caroline!”

  3. Rachel says:

For more laughs, you should check out Robert Webb’s interpretation of Flashdance. Wonderful stuff.

  4. MamaNice says:

How many Austen men have wished to shout just that?

Holy feathers batman…how did the one in the blonde’s hair stay erect?

As for the “exhibition of Darcy’s disco prowess”…well, that’s disco as only a BBC boy could do it. What would you call that last bit? The penguin?

VW: child32…yes I am 32 now and was a child when disco was alive and well….how did it know?

  5. Nicole S. says:

Tina C. is right on!  I so wanted Darcy to yell something like that at his sister in the movie!  Had to settle for his subtle semi-eyerolling and eyebrow raising.

  6. Love it.  The Regency scene we’ve always wanted to read…or write.

  7. molly_rose says:

I agree, MamaNice. I thought the last bit was… reminiscent of a penguin; what with the little pants and the low inseam, the waggle..
    overall very funny video!

  8. Madd says:

Someone managed to improve on Austen!

Because, really, who hasn’t wanted to tell Caroline to shut the fuck up?

  9. Awesome! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  10. Phyllis says:

LOL! Laughed until I cried 🙂 I was expecting full Saturday Night Fever, but oh. Well. Hmm.

  11. theladyferris says:

    Here’s the Flashdance link:

  12. HelenRD says:

This has totally made my afternoon! I wasn’t expecting him to yell at Caroline, but dammit if she ever needed to be told that in the books. And I have to say that I was expecting a more polished routine, but all of it made me laugh like a teenaged girl. Hah! Great job.

  13. But Armstrong and Miller’s filthy “Pride and Prejudice” dancing sketches are good, too. Why aren’t they online?
    I found one.

  14. mingqi says:

HILARIOUS!!  my cheeks hurt from laughing!!  must watch again and again and again!

  15. Rosemary says:

Busted my bodice strings on this one. . .

  16. Sofie says:

Oh, I love Mitchell and Webb, and this was one of my favourite bits from the latest season. You should see their take on Rebecca.

  17. Karla says:

Rebecca!!?!? OMG, I have to see that one!  They are brilliantly funny. Totally in love with David Mitchell.

  18. SabrinaDarby says:

Hilarious!  I love Mitchell and Webb.

  19. Ros says:

@Karla, I am only slightly ashamed to admit that if you google ‘crush on David Mitchell’, both my blogs come up in the first page of links.

  20. Karla says:

@ Ros – don’t be ashamed AT ALL. He’s sex on legs IMO. 😀

  21. Amy Nichols says:

    Love it.

This is the perfect ending to an absolutely horrible week.  Thank you so much!

    amy

  22. My erotic regency writing friend, Julia Templeton, will die when she sees this.  I wish I could be a fly on the wall when she watches it.  I just sent her the link.

Ah dear, this was priceless.  Thanks.

  23. Allie says:

I absolutely love That Mitchell and Webb Look (god bless youtube for letting me see it!)  Count me in as another David Mitchell fan girl.  He’s my perfect man – skeptical, neurotic, socially awkward, and funny.

  24. Mina Kelly says:

I saw this when it aired. M&W are really on fire these days.

  25. Karla says:

@ Allie – SERIOUSLY! Romance heroes sometimes get so bloody boring with their perfect looks – broad shoulders & tapered waists and blah blah *eye spork*. I read a Regency replacing the hero with David Mitchell & I enjoyed it way more. 😀

  26. Lindleepw says:

As much as I loved Darcy’s disco dancing, I must say my favorite part was when he told Caroline to shut the f—- up! You just know that’s what he (and many others) was constantly thinking in the novel.

Also, when I finished watching the video I looked up and guess what just came on my tv. Nanny McPhee starring Mr. Darcy (aka Colin Firth).

  27. Saam says:

Very entertaining. I am now looking up more clips to waste my sunday morning.
Speaking of busting bodice strings: http://www.harkavagrant.com/index.php?id=120
    snerk.

  28. quichepup says:

    A gentleman does not conga.

My father is a gentleman and he congas with the best of them.
I admit this made me snort Cheese Nips out my nose. Then when he told Caroline to shut the **** up, I did it again.

  29. Melissa says:

Like many other commentors, my favorite part was when Darcy yelled at Caroline to STFU.  I laughed so loudly I was screaming, and even managed to distract hubby from football in the other room!  :>

    P.S.  My spamword is ‘here79’.  It’s appropriate—I was alive in 1979 and actually remember disco when it was a popular form of dance.  :}

  30. Drug Rehab says:

When will these man-eaters learn to go to drug rehab for their blood addiction?  Crazy.

  31. Rebecca says:

I confess that I also laughed loudly when he told Caroline to STFU, and then forwarded it to my sister (who’s a huge P&P fan 🙂
