Not Quite a Husband: The Winners!

Shop Indie BookstoresIf you missed Not Quite a Husband: The Renaming Extravaganza, have a look at the entries, because they are hilarious. Sherry Thomas had a hell of a time judging but she did the deed.

Winner 1: I totally didn’t expect so many entries renaming NOT QUITE A HUSBAND, since people haven’t read it and since I—rather vainly—thought ESCAPE FROM SWAT VALLEY was as good as it gets.  But I was proved totally wrong.  “The Englishman Who Went into a Valley, and Came Out a Husband” by Cathy is dead-on accurate.  Sarah W’s “The Pashtun Passion Uprising” had me choking with laughter.  But it is a latecomer who snatches a prized spot on the winner list.  You just can’t beat Ebony McKenna‘s “The Empire Swats Back.”

Winner 2: As a group, the renaming of Judith Ivory books were absolutely hilarious to me.  I can’t exactly explain why.  Maybe it’s because an Ivory book tends to contain so many outre moments as a matter of course.  Maybe it’s because I’m so familiar with those books that I get the joke exactly.  Kaetrin’s Porn, Paternity & Pyrotechnics, i.e. Black Silk by Judith Ivory and Zoe Archer’s “Drinking Ether and Eating Radishes: Rick Steve’s Really Back Door Normandy” for Bliss, written as Judy Cuevas, both gave me the warm fuzzies.  Lana‘s “A Chair to Remember” for Ivory’s Untie My Heart, however, had me in stitches.  For it was indeed a chair to remember!  Lana gets a copy of NQAH.

Winner 3: There are just so many so many good ones.  I was completely tortured having to choose.  “The Incredible Sulk” for Lord of Scoundrels? Brilliant!  Black Dagger Brother and the Temple of Poon, aka Lover Enshrined by J R Ward?  Fab!  The Joanna Bourne Ultimatum for The Spymaster’s Lady? I dig!  But in the end I had to go with Castiron‘s Pride and Predjudice: HOT DESPERATE WOMEN IN HERTFORDSHIRE!  Because now suddenly I can envision P&P as porn, and that, my friends, is priceless.  Third copy of NQAH goes to Castiron.

And the random luck of the draw winners are Keira and Diane/Anonym2857.

Thank you so much to everyone for participating.  I wish I had tons of more books to giveaway because you guys made me laugh so hard!

If you’re a lucky winner, send me your snail mail (sarah @ smartbitchestrashybooks.com), and Sherry will hook you up. Thanks, Sherry!

But wait, there’s more fun and enjoyment – have a look and the Lego-licious video trailer for Not Quite a Husband:

I feel honored just to have been mentioned!  But I definitely think that “A Chair to Remember” was LOL-worthy, so knickers off to you, Lana, and other winners.

Now I’m going to sulk that I didn’t win a copy.

  6. ZOMG! Thank you so much!
Laughed damn hard at the video as well.

    That video was freakin’ awesome!

  9. Cat Marsters says:

Y’know what?  No wonder the lady in the video was so annoyed about her dress.  They got it wrong on the cover too (sure, what’s 90 years or so when it comes to style?).

  10. Lana says:

Yaaaay! Thank you, Sherry and Smart Bitches! 🙂

I loved PA and Delicious so I can’t wait to read this!
