jesus tap dancing christ.  i can’t believe agnes lost.

i know nora roberts reads this board, which is a bit like letting the UNC coach ref the final game in this particular case, but COME ON! it’s not like i am not a roberts fan, i am.  but JENNY CRUSIE?!  AGNES and the Hitman?!  what’s wrong with people!?  flamingos!  the mob!  Lisa Livia!

“Carpenter said this thing to me.” He settled closer to her. “Happiness in the world?”

“Oh yeah.” Agnes smiled against his shoulder.  “Contentment with the past, happiness in the present, and hope for the future.  It was in their vows.”

“He said when I had that I would be able to talk to you.”

“Oh.  Well, all things in good time.”

“I’m close.” Shane yawned.  “I’m close to the middle one, I think.  And the last one, I’ve got that.” He closed his eyes as his hand rested on her waist.  “Nah,” he said, and yawned again. “I’m good with all three.”

PS – i like the trash talk best.
PPS – i have a signed copy of Bet Me which is in a vacuum pouch and locked in a fireproof box with my mom’s wedding photos.

~i know nora roberts reads this board, which is a bit like letting the UNC coach ref the final game in this particular case,~

    Excuse me? I don’t understand that comment—or hope I don’t.

Everyone wants their favorites to win, no doubt. But can we be careful and keep the comments about the books—and not about the authors personally?

This is a fun and interesting poll. I’m as entitled to play as anyone else.

  3. Aimee says:

oops!  no personal offense intended!  my apologies if it reads that way.

it was kind of more like nora roberts is awesome (UNC, top seed in march madness) and everyone knows she’s awesome.  it really wasn’t intended to be anything but trash talk.  i will refrain from doing so in the future.

really, no offensive personal statements intended!

  4. Lorelie says:

    Excuse me? I don’t understand that comment—or hope I don’t.

I read that as you knowing “the game” inside and out so well your picks would be pretty damn on target.

  5. Nora Roberts says:

I’m a novice at this sort of poll, so I apologize if I misinterpreted the comment

  6. Jane says:

I think its in the spirit of the tourney boards where fans regularly hate on each other.  The appropriate response usually ends with “your mother.”

Which, if I can awkwardly translate this into romance tourney parlance would be something like,

“Christ, Aimee, Agnes was so stupid that she stole free bread.”

    And then Aimee would respond:

“Well, at least she is not as stupid as Phoebe who studied for a drug test.”

Thanks to the repository of bad Yo Momma Jokes.

  7. SonomaLass says:

My momma, yo momma, all our mommas.  I said from the beginning that having to choose between La Nora and Cruisie was the hardest choice in the poll—and it was in ROUND ONE!!!!!

    Waaaaah!

    Congrats, Nora—that was a stunning first-round victory.

Oh, and very spiffy new editing features—I <3 them!

  8. Denni says:

For me, the tough decisions were in Paranormal division…good books vs. even better books, yikes!

I’m clueless in Catagory & Contemporary. Recognize a couple of titles (not a Crusie fan).  The only one I actually read, Exotic Secrets of a French Maid, IMO was a disappointing dud.

Yo mama cross-eyed and watches TV in stereo.

  9. Nora Roberts says:

I am so clueless about this stuff I JUST figured out how to find my original picks and print them out so I don’t have to try to remember them.

And my mama could whip all yo mamas.

  10. Sharyn says:

Ummm Nora – could you let me know how you did that because I can’t remember which ones I picked and might be voting for the wrong books!

  11. She threatened to boil my puppy.  Sorry, Aimee.

  12. darlynne says:

Gees, I STILL haven’t figured out how to find my original picks and have no idea generally how I voted. Go me.

And MY momma, she, well … grrrh, I got nothin’.

  13. Aimee says:

I JUST figured out how to find my original picks and print them out so I don’t have to try to remember them

wait, you can print it out?  that’s going to make my life a whole lot easier.

so will having my winner knocked out in the first round.

  14. gremlin says:

to see your picks: if you go to the ‘current standings’ page, you can find your name and click on it to show your bracket.  so then you know what to vote for.  🙂  [and hah!  i noticed today mine was #69!]

and i’ve been holding this one in all afternoon – *squee!*  it’s so cool Nora Roberts reads Smart Bitches.  and here maybe she’s reading something i wrote instead of the other way around!  😀

my winning pick is out already.  *sigh*
plus my winner of cat vs cont also lost.  i mean, who could resist Agnes & Hitman?  well, i guess plenty!

  15. I’m in 192nd place?  Man, I am full of fail!  But it’s fun to watch the competition.

  16. Jane says:

Darlene – you need yo mamma to help you pick next year.

  17. Lorelie says:

I JUST figured out how to find my original picks and print them out so I don’t have to try to remember them

Holy bejesus, I didn’t even think of printing them.  I’ve been going to the page and waiting for them to load up on my super-slow computer every time.

Apparently it’s not my momma who’s the stupid one.
