Gawker’s Email Builds Burger of Cringe

I was forwarded a link to Gawker’s account of an author sending a pitch for her novel sent via “non-bcc’d email received today by almost every agent and editor currently working in book publishing.” OUCH. Non-BCC’d? That’s worth an extra all-beef cringe patty or two right there.

The double-cheese on my cringe burger is that I am stuck reading the villain in the pitch, Don Qui Hon, as “Don Quixote.” Damn him and his evil windmills.

I think I received this about 20 times.  No kidding.  Sometimes once a day, sometimes more.  What larks.

I was thinking more along the lines of “Donkey Kong.”

I was thinking more along the lines of “Donkey Kong.”

I would totally purchase a book that combined master thievery and Donkey Kong:

“We have the vase, now we just have to make it to the roof!” shouted Jack. “If only this gorilla would stop throwing barrels down at us!”

“Are you saying you can’t handle it, Jack?” Claire snarked as she jumped over a barrel. “I thought Interpol agents were tougher than that.”

“Oh, I can handle the barrels, Claire. Don’t worry your pretty little head.”

I like the comment “So I’m guessing she’s already been signed by Harlequin?”  Ha ha ha, oh god, IT’S TRUE. *sobbing*

I have to read through those descriptions every damn day.  It’s the same story every time!  How can it possibly sell?

  5. It is about the daughter of a master thief named Claire Barnes, who is a master thief herself.

Claire Barnes is kind of a wussy name for a male master thief, no?  😛

    And my word is “saw73”

I hope that’s not a sign of things to come

  6. Ann Bruce says:

My sincerest apologies to all the editors and agents in the publishing world.  I wanted to allow every publishing house a chance to get involved with the book destined to make JK Rowling green with envy.

Don Ho Phan—Oh, wait.  Oops.  My villain’s name is different.

  7. Best comment was the guy who posted, “I guess that’s what happens when you pin the tale on the Don Qui.”  LMFAO!
