Just a Quick Snip

I’m back to reading romance, after waiting forever for my BooksFree shipment and having travel diaries to read. And I have to tell you, I love it when the hero fights his feelings for the heroine. I love it when the hero and heroine are friends and they fight and rage against all the feelings they have that they never touch or act on.  I love it when the hero wants the heroine and is scared to act on how he feels, to take that risk, even though he knows he won’t be able to stop himself. I love when the heroine gathers all that angst and fear from the hero and makes it all go away.

I am addicted to the attraction and the resistance to it, and it’s like tingles down my arms, I love it so much. This is why I read romance. Because aside from all the drama and the nasty and the mean and the petty, people can make each other feel incredibly loved and wanted and special. I love that every time I read a romance, I get to experience it again and again.

Sarah, do tell, what book or books were you thinking of during this blog.  I know exactly what you mean.  I love stories with a bit of an edge to them and I like them even better when the characters ache to be together but try all they can to not let it happen….up to a point 😉

What? Talk about what I’m reading? We don’t do that here!

I’m kidding, of course – and you are totally right Cindy – I should in fact dish on what I’m reading.

Right now, I’m 3/4 done with “Crazy for You” by Jennifer Crusie. The romance between two characters is one of my (and Candy’s) favorites – two best friends that fall for each other, though in this case he harbored an ongoing lust for the heroine for years and years. But right as I left work, I read a section where the hero was trying to balance the love he felt for her as his best friend, and the lust he could barely keep a handle on, and I thought, “THIS is why I LOVE Romance novels!”

I know EXACTLY what you’re talking about, Sarah. I get the tingly arms (and happy jimmy-legs too) when the romance is particularly good. I love reading romances because I love the emotional rush it gives me.
