Sony 505 Review: A Video Review from Liz M

Behold! A video review!

First: I want to play with her Lego collection.

Second: the DRM visual analogy at the end made me howl.

Fun review! though the visuals really could’ve used more time as a frame, felt like I was being subjected to subliminal messages. Worth manually going to the exact second to see what they looked like properly, though!

  2. library addict says:

I agree it was a fun review, but it took me more than twice as long as the 3 minutes to view the pictures as I was not quick enough when I clicked the pause button.  Still don’t think I managaed to catch them all.  Subliminal messages indeed.

At least the one scene I thought was a dead body turned out to be a table.  I guess I’ve been reading too many romantic suspense stories.

  3. Amy! says:

Errr … I didn’t try jumping on the pause button, nor did I think it worthwhile to run it frame-by-frame … so, as far as I’m concerned, it was a sort of draped backdrop, intercut with titles, and three or four picture segments.  The sound effect tended to make me blink (yeah, okay, so I’m not twenty any more, sue me), and this actually *is* a video in which “blink and you’ll miss it” applies.

    Amy!

  4. Chris says:

Loved the review, but wish the frame time was a wee bit longer, too!

  5. Liz_Peaches says:

Those are Playmobils, not legos.  Loved this!

  6. MamaNice says:

Ok, fess up, I wanna know how long it took to set all that sh*t up.

It was fun to watch! Though strangely creepy.
    Great job!

  7. medumb says:

Loved the DRM bit! But did have to use the pause thing lol

  8. Terry Odell says:

Clever, but I have to agree, the visuals were on and off the screen too fast to see.  Being unsavvy, I didn’t think to use the pause button.  B

  9. De says:

That was worth pausing and finding the frame.  Very clever, very original.

  10. phadem says:

I did think to use the pause button- but I’m not patting myself on the back. I’m truly surprised I thought to do so.

    Soooo…I loved this!

  11. Even with the pause button, it was hard to catch.  Loved the two MALES in the Couples category!

  12. roccermom says:

Video encoder shenanigans?  This is what The Husband has said of the frame rate there.  i paused for full playmobile effect.  Geeze, putting the shine on my review tonight: “The Broke-ass Housewife’s Expensive Plaything.”

  13. liz_m says:

Hm. Can’t view on this hotel pc, should have had at least 4 secs on each pic, which is much longer than it sounds, trust me. It was my first go at this sort of thing, so there ya go.

Re: set up – I had minions. Small, low paid minions.

Re: collection – it is astonishing in it’s Playmobil breadth- I have minions, no willpower, and a Spouse with an office in Germany. We barely scratched the surface

Re: Kind words, big thanks, see First Attempt and Half Assed for reference. Maybe we’ll do it again one day, figuring it out was the complicated part. Ok, I’m headed back to the fray – Chicago is HOT today, y’all. And not the good kind.

  14. liz m says:

Yea, it’s video encoder shenanigans – I’m back home and I can see what it’s doing – it’s skipping about and messing with the time stuff. I’ll try and reload it this week.

  15. liz m says:

I figured it out, in case anyone hits this later and wants to see what it was supposed to run like – I needed it to be in .flv not .mov.
