RITA Reader Challenge Review

Flash Fire by Dana Marton

This RITA® Reader Challenge 2016 review was written by Goodreads. This story was nominated for the RITA® in the Romantic Suspense category.

The summary:

A brand new, gripping novel of romantic suspense from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Dana Marton.

When an American teenager disappears abroad, Clara Roberts, a by-the-book investigator on a secret mission, joins forces with Light Walker, an ex-SEAL turned lawless mercenary, to save her. The sparks they generate—and the trouble they stir up—threaten to set the jungle ablaze.

Nothing is what it seems in this fast-paced romantic thriller. As attraction grows into love, looming danger turns into all-out war, and the whole region explodes around them. Clara and Walker must hold on to each other and race against time to survive.

Here is Goodreads's review:

I didn’t receive a 2016 RITA® Reader Challenge review for this book, so I’m compiling quotes from reviews online and using the grade average from Goodreads as a substitute.

This book has a 4.60 average, which I’m interpreting as an A.

…This story is one of the edgiest novels by Dana Marton I’ve read. It has all the elements that romantic suspense enthusiast, love- such as a hot ex-SEAL hero, a kick – butt heroine, a dangerous location, two emotional backstories, and plenty of sexual chemistry. But, this one is especially gritty, with some graphic depictions of drug lords, human trafficking, and the utter disrespect for human life…

Deb wrote:

…Unlike all of the previous Dana Marton books I’ve read, I just didn’t feel the chemistry between Clara and Light. There were times it was very hard to put down, but those were mostly in the first 1/2. Once I got past the half way mark, things got much more interesting and I ended up staying up until 2am to finish it.

Crystal wrote:

…Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading Flash Fire. I bonded with the characters quickly, became completely invested in the searches and battles they fought through, and the drama that was revealed with each twist. Dana Marton has once again written a wonderful romantic suspense story that kept me submerged in the story for the first page all the way to the end…

His name is Light Walker? Hah. Does he have a neighbor named Jedi Knight or perhaps a couple friends named Ami Dala and Ken Obi? 😛

I really don’t like these reviews that are just quotes. I would have been happy to take on some more books to review had I known there was a shortage of reviewers. But when I looked at the spreadsheet, everything seemed covered.

oops hit submit and then notify which is the wrong order. I do that a lot. Any chance the notify thing could be above the submit thing?
