69. An Interview with Chas Jenkins Patrick

There are many people who have made writing their job – including many people who don't do the writing part. Sarah and Jane sit down and talk with Chas Jenkins Patrick from Rock Star Lit, who works as a virtual assistant and marketing assistant for many authors. She's also Kristen Ashley's assistant, and has been for years. We talk about being an assistant and how her job has changed over the years, as well as productivity and self assessment. We also talk about what she's reading, as she and Jane have marvelously well-matched reading taste.

Please note: we have a bit of a spoilery discussion about Allegiant in the end, from about 23:00 – 24:05.

Here are some of the books we talk about:

Book After the Ending - Lindsey Pogue Lindsey Fairleigh Book Shooter Dahlia West Book Move the Sun Susan Finetti

  1. This was an enlightening podcast. There’s so much for an author to consider when writing, publishing, and marketing. In theory, being a writer sounds so easy, but when you’re working 8-6 to pay the bills, and your trying to follow your passion for writing, something always has to take a backseat. I spend less time writing than anything, which is sort of sad, but necessary. It’s great to hear what the PR and marketing guru’s have to say about the quirks and necessities of the Indie process. Thanks for all the insight!
