Lynne Connolly sent me the links to these videos, which are both terribly funny and cute, and hugely touching. Footballer Vinne Jones did a video explaining hands-only CPR for the British Heart Foundation. Those videos, according to the BHF, have saved the lives of over 20 people. Four have appeared in videos telling their story.

Grab your tissues, and get ready for the videos of those who had heart attacks and survived, because they'd been "Vinnied."

I hope your weekend is full of all your best mates, Bee Gees, and absolutely no need for CPR.

Stayin’ Alive, indeed! Everybody should know this.

1st: I didn’t know Bullet Tooth Tony was a footballer! Wicked!
2nd: I’m curious about Graham’s story - if he had a heart attack twice(!) what did the doctors miss after he was picked up by the ambulance? Maybe he needs to, I dunno, get his arteries scrubbed or something. Its good and all to teach CPR to Stayin Alive but you’d think the British Heart Foundation would add somewhere in the video, “hey, schedule regular appointments to ensure heart health!” or something.

That last one . . . “I’m just waiting to buy a cup of tea for the man with a beard who has strong mans and knows all the words to Stayin’ Alive.”
That should be a poem.
I’m an American Heart Association instructor, and I think I’ll check to see if I’m allowed to use that song, too . . .

Strong HANDS. Sheesh!

At the end of Graham’s video it says, “Graham has now had a heart transplant. Jeanette is busy planning their wedding. She wants to walk down the aisle to Stayin’ Alive.”
John’s story had me tearing.

Did you watch the “mini vini” one? Amusing AND helpful.

Check out the mini-vinnie one. It is funny but with such a great message!! Love the coats!

This is a brilliant ad campaign. I knew about CPR and “Stayin’ Alive” from PSA’s in the US, but it’s a message that should be broadcast everywhere. I’d love to see a recognizable US football star (Yes,I’m looking at my fellow Gator—give us a new definition of “Tebowing”, Tim) do this for the Heart Association.

This is a brilliant campaign and very much needed IMHO. My beloved aunt passed away earlier this year after suffering a heart attack in a train carriage near York. No-one on the scene knew CPR. If someone had, she might be alive today. Everyone - learn this! (And hug your loved ones every chance you get!)

I just had an idea—I should download “Stayin’ Alive” to my smartphone, so that if I’m ever in a situation where I need to do CPR it could help me stay on beat. After all, the two things we’re always likely to have with us when we go out are our phones and our wallets.

We used this beat (pun intended) when I worked in CCU. It’s perfect and EVERYONE knew the song. Plus we had drugs and defibrillators and stuff too…

And I want one of those coats!

I’m so sorry to hear that, Jenny. The more people who learn CPR (and aren’t afraid to do it) the better it is for all of us.

The real reason I find these so hilarious is because Vinnie was in Snatch (and the adverts were meant to look like something out of a movie of that genre). What a clever campaign! It’s very catchy, funny, but will make you tear up a bit. Props to the British Heart Foundation and Vinnie Jones!

Hard to believe that dear old Vinnie the footballer has done such a good thing! Loved it. :)

Can’t remember if it was here at SBTB where I first saw the link, but even if it was, can’t hurt to see the Ken Jeong version again, right?

That’s brilliant. And it’s so easy to remember.

I love Vinnie - not surprised that he supports the BHF though,as his wife has had a heart transplant.
