    Congrats!

There were a bunch over very very clever ones.  I’m still snickering over the phallic flowers.

The Bible one is making me think we could have a whole ‘nother contest just using the racy/forbidden stories in the OT and NT.
    Shocking!  And I’m a church-going gal :O

WOOT!! Something I voted for actually won something! Congrats Julie! I’m glad to know spewing on my computer screen did not go for naught.

Congrats Julie! And congrats to everyone who entered!  They were all some serious lulz.

Congrats Julie! My favourite pick by far. And you know this dictionary would sell like hot cakes! Especially if the most important words were highlighted, such as “unconditional,” “irrevocable,” or “masochistic.” You could even go the Thesaurus route so that girls will know all the different ways they can say “beautiful,” “statue,” and (obviously) “dazzle.”

    Congrats again!

Congratulations!  I voted for this one!  Congratulations to everyone else, too, as there was so many creative, funny book covers, it was seriously hard to choose.

I will never see an anthurium again without thinking of my new cover.  Which beats some of the other covers I’ve had. ;)

Great job, I loved the Glitter Baby one!

I loved this one; a close call between the Dictionary and the Bible!

    Congrats, Julie!!!

I personally laughed so hard when I first looked through, I cried and set off an allergy attack. Then, I sneezed and laughed for another hour while I cleaned house.

    Total Awesomeness!

Love all the covers. My fave—the Northanger Abbey.

To the Twillight-mania conversation I must add this. I’m temporarily living on the Ohio State University campus. From the exercise room in my building I have a view of the OSU/Barnes & Noble bookstore. I love watching the comings and goings, especially the new students with their parents.

Spotted today: Freshman girl (identified by brand spanking new OSU Red t-shirt) with her mother. Mom carrying a Edward/Bella poster, girl carrying a bag.

Speculation: Inside bag a copy of Wuthering Heights with Twillighted cover. Had Meriam-Webster been on the ball and upgraded their cover ala Julie—they would have sold another dictionary.

All these look AMAZING guys ;)

@ Teresa Picking out the freshmen is also one of my favorite activity the first week of school XD I think Merriam-Webster should seriously consider Twilighting themselves.

So sorry to be late to the party on this one—busy at work (junior high school library where—surprise!—a blog with the word “bitches” in the title is blocked) and didn’t see the contest until it was over.  But I did want to say a few things:

    1.  At school, we’ve never had any interest in Wuthering Heights until the students started reading the Twilight series.  (As for Twilight et. al., we can’t keep those books on the shelves.)  Now I get lots of students asking for “that book Bella likes so much.”  I don’t know how many of them actually finish W.H. but they are checking it out now.

    2.  I’m sure I’m not the only one to notice the super-abundance of apples on covers recently.  We held our back-to-school book fair a couple of weeks ago and I counted at least five new Y.A. books with apples on the covers.  Green apples, red apples, peeled apples, you name it.  Nothing to do with Twilight though, right?

    3.  Perhaps a cookbook should be the next Twilight cover rip-off:  You can use apples like Bella is holding to make apple crisp using The Joy of Cooking.

Is there somewhere I can go to see all the entries? I’ve come late to this party (via BBAW awards). The winner is hilarious, but I’m dying to see the others too.

Thanks! I had looked at that entry, but missed the (obvious, bright red) “More, More, More” at the bottom.

ROFL! These are hilarious! I especially Baby Names, The Holy Bible, and King Lear. Thanks for the link!
