Three book-related things:

by Candy | by Candy | April 06, 2009 | Monday at 10:09 pm | 28 Comments

1. This is just to say

I have uploaded
an outtake
that was cut
from the book

and which
I had been
saving
as an extra.

Forgive me
It was delicious
so sweet
but too long

2. Also! For all you Portland-area bitches, I’m going to be at POWELL’S MOTHERFUCKING BOOKS in Beaverton next Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m.. The squeals of joy and holy shit, they verily did ring throughout the land when that booking was confirmed, I can tell you. I’m planning to hold an interactive Choose Your Own Man-Titty reading, so it’s going to be tremendous fun. Come one, come all, and heckle the crap out of me. I will sign your books. I will sign your titties. I will even sign your man-titties. And I will sign them SAVAGELY. (And remember: it’s the Powell’s in Beaverton, not the behemoth on Burnside.)

3. I have a couple more events scheduled (one in Boise and one in the Seattle area), but would like to work out more for the summer, now that I know for sure that my internship is keeping me in the continental United States. Anybody know a bookstore or library along the West Coast that wouldn’t mind hosting a book signing-cum-romance novel discussion (or, failing that, romance novel Mad Lib-style games)? .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

I promise not to spam y’all with author appearance announcements on this space, because they can become fucknoxious real quick, but the Powell’s thing was just way too exciting for me not to squeal about. Once booktour.com allows me to sign up (their server hates me, apparently), I’ll just enter all my tour info there, and you have a one-stop shop for all appearances Candy-related.

    Silver you brat!!!!

Mine should be here tomorrow then. Naturally I will be at work.

And post your damn schedule link on the site Sarah———> over there on the side. To heck with the other site.

Make that Candy. Wasn’t looking, was I?

  8. Lori said on 04.06.09 at 11:47 PM[link]

Candy! At Powell’s! I would give at least one of my lesser body parts to be there for that.

  9. SonomaLass said on 04.06.09 at 11:55 PM[link]

Oh man, my brother lives in Beaverton.  To see Candy and get my book signed, I would even visit my sister-in-law (and yes, that IS a big deal). Alas, I have already had my spring break, and so cannot escape on a Wednesday for the rest of the semester.

Our local bookstores seem somewhat romance resistant, but I will have a word with folks in the know and see if there’s a chance of some Heaving Bosoms in Wine Country.  Just my luck, they’ll schedule it while I’m out of the country or some shit like that.

Silver, you are bragging almost as much as I would if mine had arrived!  Alas, it is somewhere between here and Nashville, not predicted to arrive until Thursday.  *sniffle*

    I ? Dwayne.  Great outtake!

  10. sara said on 04.06.09 at 11:57 PM[link]

Ha. OF COURSE you’re going to Beaverton. Snerk. Hi, I’m five.

  11. Gina said on 04.07.09 at 12:22 AM[link]

Boise! Yay! I hope I get my copy in the mail before you get here.

    laughing. so. hard.
    outtakes.
    extras.
    funny. sooo funny.

C’mon Friday… that’s when amazon says my book will arrive…

  13. Candy said on 04.07.09 at 12:53 AM[link]

Seattle reading’s not going to be until late June, because I just couldn’t cudgel my schedule into shape. It’s going to be at Third Place Books, 17171 Bothell Way NE. June 27 (it’s a Saturday) at 6:30 p.m.

And the Boise reading is going to be at Rediscovered Bookshop, 7079 Overland Road, on Friday May 17th (this the first week after finals and before my internship begins, so road trip road trip wooooo!) at 7 p.m.

Those who can make it totally should because it’s going to be SUPER SWEET and I will come up with the best inscriptions for your books, like, ever in the history of ever. (For all values of “best” = “most profanity-laden.”)

    BOISE!!! Holy cow!

  15. Keira Soleore said on 04.07.09 at 01:29 AM[link]

Thanks, Candy, for the date/time/place. Looking forward to seeing you then.

April 15th. It’s so on my calendar. In ink. With too many exclamation points. I’m even excited about braving the Sunset Highway, 217, and Cedar Hills Crossing to get to the Beav’ Powell’s for the event.

    Joy.

  17. Hydecat said on 04.07.09 at 02:00 AM[link]

That outtake was fabulous! Nothing burns my cheese like the books where the hero assumes that if he says “you were meant for me” often enough he’ll automatically get his own way.

Candy—There’s a Readers Luncheon for the benefit of Portland Literacy on April 18, 10 am, at the Governor’s Hotel.  Any way you can come?  We have a bookseller. No I take that back.  Not just “a bookseller,” 2005 RWA Bookseller of the Year Marcy Dodge. She’s hauling in a ton of books for sale. I’m sure she’d make certain she had yours on hand.

    Info here:  http://rosecityromancewriters.com/special-events.html

Any other Bitches in the area should come, too.  Lucy Monroe is the keynote speaker.

  19. Theresa said on 04.07.09 at 04:50 AM[link]

Yeah!!!! I got my book today.  Go Amazon!

  20. Kelly said on 04.07.09 at 10:11 AM[link]

Awwww, poor Dwayne, someone needs to give him some sugar.  You don’t hear about the fate of the poor vampires who were doomed to be only *le gasp* average looking.

  21. Babs said on 04.07.09 at 02:31 PM[link]

Dwayne? DWAYNE?!?! And he fidgets? I LOVE IT!

Wah ha ha ha ha ha ha.

  22. Mfred said on 04.07.09 at 03:23 PM[link]

william carlos williams!  My high school creative writing teacher loved that man.  Sometimes i whisper “plums… icebox” to my girlfriend but she never gets it.

  23. Jessa Slade said on 04.07.09 at 08:31 PM[link]

Holy crap, Lisa.  That’d be so cool if we could score Candy for the Readers Luncheon.  Candy, you could sell your books and we could bask in heaving glory.  Is begging undignified?

  24. Candy said on 04.07.09 at 11:06 PM[link]

Re: the Readers Luncheon: Holy crap, I’d love to be there. Two questions, however:

    1. Is it too late to register?

    2. Is there anything else I need to do besides sign up on the website and designate myself a participating author?

  25. StephB said on 04.08.09 at 12:48 PM[link]

Oh, wow. That outtake was hilarious! Dwayne may be my new favorite Vampire Lover. :)

  26. Trix said on 04.09.09 at 07:42 PM[link]

Oh man, that outtake gave me a flashback to slogging my way through Twilight. Like, Vietnam War level flashback.

  27. Lisa Hendrix said on 04.09.09 at 08:03 PM[link]

Candy, I answered you in private email with details.  For the rest of you:

NO, it’s not too late to register as a reader. We’d love to have a load of Bitches turn out to cheer Lucy, Candy, and all the other authors (me, too!—and some lucky reader at my table is winning an ARC of my upcoming book).  Again, the link for info/registration is

    http://rosecityromancewriters.com/special-events.html

Quick, get your place reserved.  This puppy sells out most years.

  28. Candy said on 04.10.09 at 02:44 AM[link]

OK, dudes. Am registered for the Readers Luncheon; we’ll see if I get to be a hosting author. Whee!
