Update: Results of the Romance Family Feud Survey!

April 18, 2012 | Wednesday | 55 Comments

Zoe Archer was kind enough to write up the survey results from the Romance Family Feud game at Romantic Times. I'd posted a link to the survey a few weeks ago, and the answers during the game itself were so funny, I asked if they'd be willing to share. Thank you!!  A big thanks to everyone who participated in the Romance Reader Family Feud survey we posted a few weeks ago.  We had over 575 responses!  The Family Feud game at RT turned out to be more fun than is possibly legal in several states, and we have you to… read more »

Chain Reaction by Zoe Archer, a Guest Review by CarrieS

January 11, 2012 | Wednesday | 10 Comments

(With Bonus Mini-review of: The Clockwork Girl.) I reviewed Archer's first science fiction ebook, Collision Course, about 8th Wing and their fight against PRAXIS and I loved it.  A special thanks to all the commentators who pointed out that in real life PRAXIS can stand for a type of standardized test.  I still love the series but now every time the word comes up all I can think of is number two pencils.  Anyway, I had high expectations for Chain Reaction and those expectations were met and exceeded. Wonderful characters, a geek hero (SWOON!!!!), great dialogue both serious and funny,… read more »

RITA Reader Challenge Review: Rebel by Zoe Archer

June 27, 2011 | Monday | 1 Comments

Chelsea S. selected this book for the RITA® Reader Challenge, which finaled in the paranormal romance category. Plot Summary: Nathan Lesperance is used to being different. He’s the first Native attorney in Vancouver, and welcome neither with white society nor his sometime tribe. Not to mention the powerful wildness he’s always felt inside him, too dangerous to set free. Then he met Astrid Bramfield and saw his like within her piercing eyes. Now, unless she helps him through the harsh terrain and the harsher unknowns of his true abilities, it could very well get him killed. Astrid has traveled this… read more »

RITA Reader Challenge Review: Rebel by Zoe Archer

June 26, 2011 | Sunday | 9 Comments

This review for the RITA® Reader Challenge was written by a woman with more than one online moniker, so I picked my favorite: lizzle4rizzle. HA! This book finaled in the paranormal romance category. NB: I have a second review of Rebel coming later. Now, unless… read more »

Links and OH MY GOSH Sales

First: Zoe Archer wrote this thoughtful entry about romance and feminism: Romance novels depict the emotional lives of women and men.  The books aren’t merely the heroine’s journey toward love, but the hero’s journey, as well.  Men’s emotions aren’t dismissed or suppressed.  Men aren’t belittled for having feelings.  Often, it’s the hero’s growing level of comfort and familiarity with emotion that forms one of the central elements to a romance novel.  And this openness and acceptance with love actually makes the hero stronger, not weaker.  Over at Kirkus, my most recent column is up. I’m talking about when the sex… read more »

Collision Course by Zoe Archer: A Guest Review by Carrie S

March 29, 2011 | Tuesday | 17 Comments

Collision Course is my new favorite one-night stand of romance novels, and it was just the thing to see my through a very stressful week which culminated in Dear Daughter catching the flu.  This is not a book that is likely to inspire anyone with deep thoughts about life, but for pure escapism you just can’t do better than this.  Many thanks to Zoë Archer for transporting me to the outer regions of space in between earthly crisis! I was so excited to read Collision Course that I lost my eBook virginity to it (it’s only available digitally), and although… read more »

Awesomesauce: Zoe Archer’s series bundled for $9.99

November 18, 2010 | Thursday | 51 Comments

If you’re a Kindle customer, you can get Zoe Archer’s entire Blades of the Rose series in one ebook bundle for $9.99. It’s also available at BN.com for the nook. Is it too much to suppose that there’s some folks at Kensington dancing around singing “Doncha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?” to the Agency publishers? I bet there’s dance footage. I bet Zoe can get it, too. I don’t know if I can say how much that gives me giddy pants. So smart! (This also reminds me to go read Stranger, which is Catallus Graves’ story). read more »

First, things happen when Zoe Archer shops Etsy. I don’t know if these are GOOD things but things definitely happen. Like Purssy clutches. Archer thinks this is a great place to store tampons. (SNRK.) From Billie, this absolutely hilarious report on Microsoft’s latest patent application for a virtual page turn gesture. I honestly don’t get page turn animations, and think they are a waste of time, but patenting the gesture? BIllie points out that the bootnote is the very best part (a close second is my opportunity to use the word ‘bootnote’): Bootnote We would be remiss if we didn’t… read more »
