If you’ve been reading on Twitter or read the transcript of the Sizzling Book Chat, which over 7500 people have (whoa!), you know that the February Sizzling Book Club pick is Courtney Milan’s Unveiled. Ahem. And now, I squee. OH MY GOD. THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD I WANTED TO PUT IT IN MY MOUTH AND EAT IT. There, how was that for a blurb? Heh. Downton Abbey

January 10, 2011 | Monday | 72 Comments

Last night I bumped into a tweet from Linda Holmes at NPR Monkey See about a PBS miniseries that was about to start. So I changed the channel. OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS. Downton Abbey is delicious television! If you’re a historical romance fan, or a historical drama fan, or you really like opulent British houses or early 20th century costumes, or outstanding acting, do yourself a favor and tune in. Some folks speaking with me last night were irate that the broadcast was allegedly edited for the US audience. According to this article/interview, the original series was edited to… read more »

What a Rogue Desires by Caroline Linden - a Guest Review by RedHeadedGirl

November 03, 2010 | Wednesday | 62 Comments

RedHeadedGirl is back, this time with a book she absolutely loved, lest you think she only reads books she hates. Lest you all think I hate everything, this is a Praise to Balance the Snark.  I described this one to Sarah as “a soothing avocado mask of a book.” A Regency with a plot that is both logical and entertaining!  Dialogue that feels like real people would say it!  Characters that are both likeable and entertaining and NOT STUPID!  It’s a Regency, so we’re in familiar territory, but dude.  SOOTHING AVOCADO MASK. It also has one of my top ten… read more »

Wine, Romance, and Books for Literacy

June 21, 2009 | Sunday | 5 Comments

Tomorrow from 2-4pm, I’ll be out on the eastern tip of Long Island at the Pindar Vineyards for a multi-author book signing with Gina Ardito, Patti Ann Bengen, Debora Dennis, Candace Gold, Barbara Metzger, Jean Marie Pierson and Bertrice Small - I am going to try not to squee like a fangirl at Ms. Small. One of her books, Blaze Wyndham, is among my favorite re-reads from the old skool days of romance. The signing was organized by the newly-formed Dunes & Dreams chapter of the RWA, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Suffolk Literacy. For… read more »

Words Every Reader Loves to Hear: Sixteen Free Books!

January 29, 2009 | Thursday | 51 Comments

As part of Harlequin’s 60th Anniversary, they have a rather auspicious and frankly asskicking plan: to give a free e-book to every woman in America and Canada as part of their celebration. All formats are included, including PDF, and each and every one is DRM free. The books will be available for the Stanza program on the iPhone, and you can go to the eHarlequin site for all the details and info on how to pick up your free books. Plus, and this makes me really freaking giddy, these books will be free at all e-retailers, including Amazon and Sony.… read more »

455 comments? WHOA! Thank you to all who stopped by and left a squee or two - and yes, shewhohashope, I do not get what is up with the country of origin for the sheikhs in the sheikh millieu. Of course, Candy and I both are mystified by the fact that there are all these sheikhs who aren’t, you know, Muslim. WTF? All sheikhing aside, I’m floored by the enthusiasm. Thank you. Srsly. Wow. So without further ado, or any ado at all, I present: the random integers: That translates to: read more »
