My pick for august, is paranormal, YA, and is the first book in a series - woo! Touch of Frost is a new YA series from author Jennifer Estep, and I thought it was spiffy. Here’s the synopsis: Gwen Frost is an outsider at Mythos Academy, a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody’s head with a sword. Gwen is an outsider both to the students of the Academy and the rest of the world. But when her gift of psychometry - the ability to know an object’s…

But Sarah Morgan wants to chat with as many US readers as possible at 9pm EDT because the series was just released in the US, so she’s cranking up the tea intake. The window below will go wild with discussion and commentary. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on this book, and about Harlequin Presents, and where Sarah Morgan hid that sheikh. See you then! It's summer, officially! Time for… well, pretty much the same amount of reading I always did. But I do love fun and somewhat sudsy reading in the summer, and I really enjoyed this book. This month's pick is a Harlequin Presents, A Night of Scandal by Sarah Morgan. Here's the synopsis: Nathaniel…Icon. Celebrity. Heartthrob. But underneath his movie-star good looks, he's battling with the demons of his past. No one knows the real Nathaniel, they only see the pinup, the illusion he pretends to be. Then one night he is forced to rely on Katie Field, an ordinary young woman…

Dust off those digital reading devices, because it’s Sizzling Book Club pick time, and I’ve picked a digital novella for your reading pleasure. This month’s pick is, I kid you not, a steampunk erotic paranormal wild west romance novella: Wilder’s Mate by Moira Rogers. I will have to re-read to see if there’s any mention of Almack’s in there because if it were also somehow Regency it would be INSANE. But I don’t think so. Unless, of course, one of the bordellos in the book is named Almack’s. I’ll have to ask the authors. If you’ve been curious about steampunk…

It’s not so much sizzling in northern coastal Scotland in the winter, but this book is amazing for it’s warmth, the strength of the writing, and the story-within-a-story. As I announced in the Book Club Chat last week, our April Book Club pick is Susanna Kearsley’s The Winter Sea. Previously published in Canada as ‘Sophia’s Secret,’ and a nominee for both a RITA and a RNA award, this book is emotional, historically fascinating, rich and worth savoring. Here’s the description: In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled…

If you tuned in to the Book Club Chat last week, you heard me announce that the next pick is Bitter Melon, a YA novel by Cara Chow. It’s probably the very best part of the book club that I get to select books that I’m excited about. This book grabbed my attention because it’s set deep in a particular culture, but the heroine’s experiences are universal and I had a great deal of empathy for her predicaments. Here’s the cover copy: Frances, a Chinese-American student at an academically competitive school in San Francisco, has always had it drilled into…
