I am not sure what the word is - overheard? read? visually eavesdropped? - but I read a conversation between Shannon Stacey and Angela James about paranormal vs. contemporary romances, and why the fanbase for some paranormal series is more active, involved, and at times rabid than the fans for contemporary series.
This idea made me ponder for a good few weeks now about why that is.
First, the idea that a paranormal romance series can enjoy a more active and sometimes coordinated fanbase is true, but that doesn't mean there aren't well-coordinated efforts on behalf of contemporary romance series.

Marianne Mancusi produced a 3 minute Better TV segment about Sherrilyn Kenyon’s new book - and big ups to MM because for three minutes and thirty seconds, the segment profiles Kenyon, her fans, her dedication, their dedication, the groups of people totally devoted to her books, and there’s a bit of me with my friendly neighborhood sinus infection in there, too, talking about fans who want to live in the worlds which writers create, and how extraordinary that is. It airs today in a bunch of markets across the US.

Thanks to Sandia for the heads up: Kenyon’s Seize the Night is free for the Kindle today. Click early, click often.
Now I have to try to figure out with my under-caffeinated brain how to ask Amazon to inform me which books are free, cheezy bread, free, so I can clickity click and load up the Kindle-Aid.
