Carrie S. sent me this guest review - which to my surprise matched very well with my own review, which I wrote before I read hers, so I decided to run them both. OK, first of all, can I just say, “EWWWWWWWWWW”. And also, “BWAHAHAHAHA”. That’s my whole book review, basically. What follows is just filler. Married With Zombies opens, as so many magazine columns have, with the question, “Can this marriage be saved?”. Sarah and David are totally sick of each other. He fills the CD changer in the car with Whitesnake, and she hates Whitesnake. She argues with…

Note: What follows is my review for this book. I have a guest review submitted separately, and the two of them match well together, so expect that second review of this book in a few hours. Sarah and David are having trouble in their marriage. They’re in counseling with a couple’s therapist, and they’ve both Googled “divorce attorney” on their shared computer - something Sarah discovers when she breaks down enough to search and finds that it’s already been used as a recent search term. When they go to their latest therapy appointment, gritting teeth and quiet tension and passive…

First, I’m working on updating a lot of the structural elements to the site, which is a big ol’ behemoth on the back end (hur hur back end) so if things look wonky, let me know and I’ll try to undo what I did, if I can remember what I did. Seriously, there is not enough diet Pepsi for work like this. I’m updating the About Us and the FAQ and other stuff, so if you’re looking for info, send up a flare and I’ll look into whatever it is you’re flaring, too. ETA: I’ve added an “edit comment” feature…

Behold: three very different but very interesting bits of book promotion that have made their way to my inbox or mailbox. First: Nora Roberts’ alter ego JD Robb is releasing her 30th book in the Eve/Roarke series. And check out the promotional bundle that appeared with a copy of the book: evidence bags! Each bag contains key evidence from one of the prior books, and there are 29 sets in all. Included is a memo from Eve Dallas that refers to a website where you can see all the different evidence bags that were sent out to reviewers and media…

There are so many ebook promotions, my wallet has hidden itself from me. Seriously. Can’t find it. Probably a good thing that I never store credit card info online, as I’d be broke like broken things. Want to know where you can spend all your filthy lucre? Read on - and there’s free stuff in here, too, so enjoy. First, Grand Central Forever has four ebooks on sale in June for $1.99 each, including one new release. While these books should be available at all digital bookstores, as of today they’re online at the $1.99 price at the Kindle store.…

This month the most excellent Once Bitten Twice Shy by Jennifer Rardin is the $1 Orbit eBook for May. I really like the heroine, Jaz Parks as I wrote in my review back in 2007, which, on the internet is so long ago that entry might require carbon dating. Or it’s decomposed such that it is dating a piece of carbon. Either way- Jaz Parks: kicks ass. What are the ways in which the ass is kicked by Jaz? Let me count them: 1. She gets hurt. She falls out glass windows, shit (not literally) falls on her, she gets…

It’s $1.00 Orbit Time! This month’s pick is Brian Ruckley’s Winterbirth.
Can I say again how much I love this idea? A $1 ebook each month to showcase a series or a hot author? Way to go Orbit, and mad props to Hachette.

There are a heaping pile of eBook deals and freebies available this week, so get your USB or wireless cable ready and start grabbing. First: Warner Forever is offering Larissa Ione’s book, Pleasure Unbound, for $1.00 during the month of March. This special should be available wherever ebooks are sold. Larissa has two other releases to watch for: Desire Unchained will be available 3/1/09 and Passion Unleashed will be available 4/1/09. Other Hachette specials this month include a buy-one-get-one and…

Petty larceny time! I’m stealing an hour of your life by giving you the heads up about Literature Map. Name an author, see the orbit of other authors similar to that one. Keep clicking. Look up - it’s an hour later. Heh. Orbit has a new book available for one crispy American dollar, or one folded up, soft and fuzzy American dollar, which ever you have. This month: Iain M. Banks’ Use of Weapons. (Is it me or is the use of additional vowels in names like “Iain” and “Niall” somehow intriguing?) Visit Onedollarorbit.com for details. (And coming up in…
