Tonight! 7:31 PM to 7:49 PM CT/ 8:31 PM to 8:49 PM ET I will be on Dresser After Dark talking about EIKAL. For added hilarity, please know that this is just past bedtime in my house, so I’ll be hiding in the bathroom, avoiding the dogs, any nagging cats, and of course, bedtime shenanigans. AND THEN… Monday 10 October on the OWN Network, I’ll be appearing live (YES LIVE!) on The Gayle King Show. The Gayle King Show can be heard on XM 111/SIRIUS 204 between 9 and 11am, or at 10 am EST on @Oprah’s Network, OWN. If…

I linked earlier to this news report about the new owner of Britain’s Erotic Review moving away from female erotic writing to “almost exclusively male writers” because they know more about sex. Aside from the blood pressure liftoff among female erotic romance and erotica writers on the internet, the attitude made me roll my eyes. Way to grab headlines by shoving your head up your ass - which, now that I think about it, was something a guy once said to me so I guess cranio-rectal impaction is erotic, huh? For the holidays, I was gifted with a subscription to…

Yesterday on Twitter, Kat Meyer hosted a #followreader discussion inspired by a question posed by Jane,: Are genre labels helpful or limiting? Who defines the scope of the genre? The write up will be at Kat’s blog, and you can read the hashtag record online if you’re interested in the full conversation. It was definitely worth pondering, as it’s a question of nomenclature and ownership of a classification - even if no two people can absolutely agree what the boundaries of that classification are. I was pondering, however, the options for renaming all genre headings for ease of Twitter, and…

Today on the Consumerist, there is an article detailing that 30% of books sold for the Kindle are now more than $9.99. As a Kindle owner, I must say, that chaps my hide. I remember clearly that part of the sales tactics (though not guaranteed as a contract between me as the buyer and the company as the supplier, which is an important point) was the repeated statement that hardbacks were $9.99. The article is scathing, and I can well understand why people are pissed off. Chris Walters mentions that publishers are the ones setting their own price points on…

As a happy proponent of the Kindle-Ade, I mention frequently how much I love it. But then, I’m also someone who saved up to buy it for weeks because I had a healthy lust for it, and knew it would make reading, which is not an optional activity for me, easier and more portable. So I had a good period of anticipation before I jumped in to the tune of more than the device is currently selling for, and I was honestly very worried that my experience wouldn’t measure up to the amount of money I paid for it. It…

Oprah, it seems, looooooves the Kindle. It’s no secret I’ve had a heaping Big Gulp of the Kindle-Ade myself, so to have something in common with Oprah? That gives me a big giggle. But soft! What light through yonder discount breaks? Yes, the Dow is tanking and financial markets around the world are in a state of holyshit, and boy, oh boy, Iceland is a sad pony right about now, but if you wanted to get a Kindle? Thank your lucky Oprah because that bad boy is $50 off through November 1, for a total of $309.00. Take a look:…
