DABWAHA Final Four Voting!

March 31, 2012 | Saturday | 0 Comments

The DABWAHA Final Four voting is on now!  From midnight to noon CDT, Courtney Milan's novella Unlocked is facing down Karen Marie Moning's Shadowfever. As of right this moment, it is terribly close. Like, every time I reload the page the tally changes - so this vote totally matters. Check your bracket, drive to various WiFI spots, and use your cell phone, folks. Every last vote will matter.  Then, at noon CDT, Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh wil face Julie James' A Lot Like Love. That race will also be close - so your vote counts today! Good luck and keep your brackets strong!  read more »

Contemporary Conflicts

February 16, 2011 | Wednesday | 64 Comments

I went back to a comfort re-read because I’m in the middle of edits and revisions and my whole world is pretty much a festooned garland of those colorful track changes bubbles (I even looked for them in a cookbook yesterday - a printed one - eel!). I love comfort re-reads, books I can sink into knowing how much I’ll enjoy them, and knowing that even the third, or fourth, or fifth time, they’ll work for me. This weekend my comfort re-read is Instant Attraction by Jill Shalvis, and it still works. Oh, boy howdy, do I love this book.… read more »

2010’s New To You Authors

December 31, 2010 | Friday | 50 Comments

Rather than do a recap of 2010, which would probably break my brain because I’ve done a lot of high-impact computer work this week (no, really, not even kidding) and because I can’t remember what I was wearing yesterday, let alone remember what I was reading eight months ago, I wanted to look back on the authors I discovered this year that rocked my world. These aren’t debut authors, not all of them, anyway. I don’t actually think being a debut author causes any more of a ripple in my consciousness than any other author or book that catches my… read more »

Spring Fling, Part Deux: Conference Bugaloo

April 25, 2010 | Sunday | 73 Comments

Today I gave my panel on online marketing and as usual I learned a ton from the audience so that the next time I give this talk it will be 230% better.  First, I learned last night in the librarian meet and greet how much librarians rely on author web sites and how valuable they find book lists that link series and related books together. It seems there is a romance reader type they see very often who will come in and want to try a new author who has a few books published already, and they want to read… read more »

Save the Contemporary!

March 02, 2010 | Tuesday | 7 Comments

It’s time once again to highlight contemporary romance, which I love, and promote a book I really enjoyed - as did Jayne at Dear Author, and Rowena at Book Binge, Sabrina at Fresh Fiction, Stacy at Stacy’s Place, and Lea at ClosetWriter. Head on over to Save The Contemporary.com to get the details - books, an iPod Touch, and a fine bottle of red wine are up for grabs if you help us spread the word about Julie James’ Something About You and contemporary romance. Good luck! read more »

Something About You by Julie James

March 02, 2010 | Tuesday | 24 Comments

Three years ago, U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde worked closely with Jack Pallas on an investigation that went totally FUBAR. His career was in the toilet, and he blamed her for totally screwing him over. He ended up in the remote wilds of some place that wasn’t Chicago nursing a big old asshurt over how wrong things went and doesn’t expect to see her again - until she overhears a murder in a hotel room next door to her own, and Pallas is assigned to the case. I don’t think I can do justice to how freaking fun this book is.… read more »
