There’s a whole lot of something going on at IASPR, the International Association for the Study of Popular Romance. The website is up and running with a whole mess of new features, including a Members’ Forum, which is not exclusively for IASPR members though there is a Members-only section (one hopes that it comes with those cool vinyl jackets with the snap collars, right?). I’m a few days tardy on this announcement, which makes me a really crappy board member, but as said board member, I invite you to join IASPR, which is the International Association for the Study of Popular Romance. From the Professors Brilliant comes a Call for Papers. Alas, I cannot participate, as it starts on the first night of Passover, and if I left RT early and skipped the PAGEANT OF MAN TITTY for Pesach, you can understand that New Orleans is not among my ports of breadless call either. Otherwise I’d be there with beads on.

Instead of a Call for Papers, it’s a Call for People from the Professors Brilliant over at Teach Me Tonight: It is time for an academic society for the study of popular romance fiction, with all the rights and privileges appertaining thereunto, like a journal and conferences.
