Tomorrow, a whole mess of books I want to read go on sale, including Sweet Valley Confidential, the story of Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield 10 years later. I read the PDF first chapter awhile back, and Elizabeth is as uptight as ever, and I am sort of peeking-through-my-fingers curious as to what happens in the story. On one hand, the Sweet Valley books were totally my gateway drug to romance novels, but on the other hand, I might like my own version of what happened later better than the novel. There’s going to be a big ol’ media push with…

It’s like a visit to Wonderland, folks: a photographic tour of some of the best of Heather Osborn’s romance collection. Seriously, it’s like a library of awesome up in here. Hi all, I’m Heather Osborn, editor of the Tor Romance line. But I don’t just edit romance – I’m a life-long fan of the genre. As such, I have amassed quite the collection, one that has followed me across the country from Southern California, to Ohio, and now to New York. Sarah asked me to give you a peek into my collection, so I’ve picked some of the…

If Sweet Valley High was your gateway drug to romance the way it was mine (I even reviewed one here a long long time ago), I have some news for you. According to EW.com, and some chatty editorial assistant gossip, the Wakefield twins are baaaaaack, this time as part of Sweet Valley Confidential: “a book chronicling their lives as twenty-somethings. Rumors have swirled for years that SVH creator Francine Pascal was working on a book focusing on the twins and their friends several years out of high school.” Say it with me now: Oh, Dear Sister! I usually don’t hop…

Time again for hand selling online, when book mastermind Billie Bloebaum from Powells books (stop by and say hi when you’re next at the Portland airport!) matches enquiring minds with required reading. Raney writes: I recently finished an epic jag of reading exclusively graphic novels and trade paperbacks (basically trying to catch up on that entire, wonderful genre that I apparently missed when hitting the library growing up.) I was lucky enough to come across The Walking Dead, by Robert Kirkman. I’ve always been a fan of zombie movies, but this was my first venture into another zombie medium (oh,…

So many people have written to me asking about the Dreamspinner ad running in our ad column. Some are dying to talk about it, some are asking me to create a thread just to discuss it, and some are absolutely turned off. What, a man with his pants down wearing some mistletoe around another area that may in fact be well hung is worth talking about? You bet your sweet bippy. So with the generosity of Elizabeth, head of Dreamspinner, who sent me a big ol’ high res version of the cover so you can appreciate the pants mistletoe’d man…

Sierra writes: I am looking for a book I read when I was a teenager, it was written in the late 80s or early 90s. I do not remember the title or author, although I think the title has something like guardian in it. It was set in the Elizabethan time period. A lady in waiting of Elizabeth’s is sent away to a guard outpost where she meets a boy and they have adventures with a mystical secret society. Some vague tid-bits that I can remember are: the secret society kidnaps the boy and in the end she rescues him…
