First, thanks to the many many many who sent the links to a Japanese uber-fan of Harry Potter interviewing the cast. This one is just.. hilarious. As a special bonus, here’s something so outrageous and ridiculous and hilarious that the only thing better than watching it is hearing Heather Osborn talk about it, which we all did at RWA. Sandra Lee making a Kwanzaa cake: If that’s not enough, here’s a link to the photos of Gillian, a blogger from Argentina, making the Kwanzaa cake. Ah, yes, one of my most joyous RWA memories: the story of the Kwanzaa cake.…

Dear Smart Bitches, I’m hoping to get some “Everything I need to Know…” Advice. First, we should probably be looking to the contemporaries on this one. I am a 19 year old female, and a college student. I am very aware of my youth and ignorance which I’m sure is skewing my views on this issue, so I need both an outside perspective as well as one of a more mature audience. I have fallen for a 31 year old man. (Yes, big surprise! No one saw that coming! My situation is totally unique!) But the fact remains I still…

First up, if you’re looking for a room for RWA, Alyssa may be able to help you, or, you might be able to hook her up with some help. She can’t attend RWA but her plans changed too late to cancel her reservation. Details at her site. Second: Cake Wrecks gives you another hero possibility, those of you who are looking for heroes and plots and really erect inspiration. Hell, why not a romance hero who loves cupcake cakes and works in a bakery with crazy cake orders that require scaffolding? Hot men plus buttercream icing plus knowledge of pastry?…

Top things everyone should know about Jane. 1. Always impeccably dressed. It’s really annoying, honestly, but only because I’m her houseguest and feel like a schlub. Nicole agrees. 2. There are muffins here as big as my damn head. NOM. 3. When in the vicinity of Jane, one can charge one’s iPhone wherever one is. It’s like of like that urban legend that in New Jersey you’re never more than 10 miles from a mall, except here, you’re never more than ten feet from an iPhone charger. Including in the car. That’s just awesome. 4. There are book freaking everywhere.…

Nikki Lomax-Larson of Military Spouse Magazine has a bit of a problem. She’s a big reader. That’s not the actual problem. Well, there’s multiple problems from where I sit. There’s her admission of secretly desiring to be the creme filling in a Weasley sandwich, and her statement that voracious childhood reading caused her to wear bifocals by third grade. And then there’s this paragraph, which is a light, moist, seven-layer cake of problems: But the one genre I never, ever touched was romance. I couldn’t bring myself to sample the “junk food” of the literary world. That was, until my…

It’s a strange thing to be hungry, amused, and oddly tempted all at the same time, but thanks to the purple prose wonderment of the Smart Bitch Recipe competition for our fourth birthday, we’re all three, though especially amused.
We have six winners, plus the grand prize winner, who is one seminally lucky individual! (snrk)
The Grand Prize: Your choice of one of the six appliances featured PLUS a luscious semen cookbook. Oh, you’re all on the edge of your seats, eh? The lucky winner is:

I’m taking the day off away from Ye Olde Laptop of Wonderment, but here are some things to look forward to here at the Pink Palace of Man-Titty: 2009 brings: The Smart Bitch Book and hella piles of promotion and giveaways. Seriously, could there be a better publishing market than right this minute? I mean sheesh! This is going to be cake! And by “cake” I mean, next up, Candy and I will be baking a 15’ tall cake and jumping out of the middle naked wearing clown wigs and She-Ra breastplates. We’ll let you know when it’s scheduled and…

Once upon a time, Candy wrote a review for Shayla Black’s Decadent which has since become one of the most linked-to portions of the site, and was the nadir of a little-known gem of internet delight known as “LOLPorn.” Seriously, people link to that entry with astonishing regularity. I don’t know if we’ve ever really expounded on our deep love for the folks who read this site, but damn hell and howdy do we love y’all. When we hold contests with other folks, invariably they’ll write, “You have the best readers, OMG.” It’s true. You guys are freaking awesome. Why?…

This weekend we are all about cake at my house - someone small and mighty is having a birthday (“OMG HAS IT BEEN A YEAR WTF UNDERNEATH THAT ALSO BBQ” is what the cake should say but alas, cooler heads prevailed). Too bad this cake isn’t available in13 more years, because everyone knows, the traditional 14th birthday is the Man Titty Birthday.
Or the “unbutton my fly” birthday.
Or the “future Ellora’s Cave cover” birthday.
