Here in New Jersey, I get BBC America, and it’s among my favorite channels. So I freaking LOVE that there is an entire song devoted to how awesome the BBC is:
Thank you to Nan of Bone Island Books for the link - which is actually a pretty good song, too, now that it’s stuck in my head.

Pria and other kind folks have forwarded me this audio link to the BBC’s radio play of the week, Clarissa, by Samuel Richardson. The part of Robert Lovelace is read by Richard Armitage - which will send many hears a-fluttering.
It’ll only be available until 21 March, so listen and enjoy while you can!

Behold: three very different but very interesting bits of book promotion that have made their way to my inbox or mailbox. First: Nora Roberts’ alter ego JD Robb is releasing her 30th book in the Eve/Roarke series. And check out the promotional bundle that appeared with a copy of the book: evidence bags! Each bag contains key evidence from one of the prior books, and there are 29 sets in all. Included is a memo from Eve Dallas that refers to a website where you can see all the different evidence bags that were sent out to reviewers and media…

Back in October I wrote about the twitter collaboration with Neil Gaiman coordinated by BBC Audiobooks.
Well, the book is done and is available through December as an audiobook but only in chapter sections online. It’ll be available for download starting in January. If you’re a Gaiman fan, or are curious how this collaboration turned out, you can listen to each chapter online.

The BBC Audiobooks America folks have sent me a shiny press release today about a new Twitter-collaboration with Neil Gaiman that will result in an audio book: This Halloween, BBC Audiobooks America (@BBCAA) is offering a treat for Twitter audiophiles: the chance to write a story with fantasy master Neil Gaiman. The New York Times bestselling author of The Graveyard Book and Twitter enthusiast (known as @neilhimself) will launch an original story-writing project on the popular social networking site October 13 at Noon EST. Gaiman will tweet the first line of the story and fans can jump in and continue…

From Sarah C. - another reason why I wish I had more BBC programming and less… of everything else. No one shags a fine bird on American tv.

In order to get this review going, I have to get one thing out of the way: “Fuck me, he cleared it!” Ok, then. The buzz is a-building about Carrie Lofty’s What a Scoundrel Wants since the buzz-o-matic Ann Aguirre launched a viral contest to spread the word about Lofty’s debut with Kensington. I read this book a few weeks ago, and I have to say, Lofty set herself for a hell of a task: she took a legend with which most people were familiar, and a setting and time period that hadn’t been visited within the romance genre in…

Five words that might save your life: Beware the Chocolate Willy Spread. Anyone else see an erotic suspense novel in the making? She’s trying to hunt down the criminal who poisoned her best friend; he’s the cop who has seen it all… until chocolate-dipped bananas were introduced to the menu. [Thanks to Becky for the link.] The BBC hosts a review of The Jewel of Medina by blogger Shelina Zahra Janmohamed, and it tests me sorely to move past her first sentence without putting my fist through the monitor: The Jewel of Medina is a chest-heaving, brassiere-busting book of outrageously…

Three men have been arrested in London after a suspicious fire was set at “the home and office of publisher Martin Rynja”, aka Gibson Square Publishing, the UK publisher of The Jewel of Medina. According to the BBC, the three men were arrested under the Terrorism Act of 2000, “on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.” The police confirmed that there has been small fire inside the property in Lonsdale Square, which had to be put out. “At this early stage it is being linked with the arrests,” the spokesman added. [Scotland] Yard officials have…

Bitchery Reader Fizz sent me an email that led to the Google Search of Champions. Heather writes about: potentially THE most powerful endorsement of romance in the known universe. See, there is this show called Top Gear, aired on the BBC and hosted by Jeremy Clarkson (AKA ‘Clarkson’), Richard Hammond (‘Hamster’) and James May (‘Captain Slow’). TG is a car show at heart - it’s a hilariously awesome car show, but it’s basically all about the shiny bodywork and VROOM VROOM noises, with the occasional deep and meaningful question…like for example, “How many motorcycles can you jump in a bus?”…
