Two interview events, one now and one coming soon! First, as I mentioned last week, this evening at 6:30pm, I’m interviewing Gena Showalter at the Apple store in Soho, New York City (103 Prince Street). The interview will be about 40 minutes with time for Q&A, and will be taped for a podcast to be released later. Also: Tuesday, 24 May at 10:30am in the Sourcebooks Booth, #4356, I will be signing advance reader copies of Everything I Know About Love, I Learned From Romance Novels. After that, I’ll be haunting the romance publisher booths. One year at BEA I…

Ahoy! Is your DABWAHA bracket shot to smithereens? Did you bank on the romance novel equivalent of the University of Pittsburgh and are now in 1156th place? Fear not - Pitt’s going home (ouch) but you get a 2nd chance! It is 2nd Chance Tourney time in Dabwaha-land! Simple as pie (mmm. pie). What Do I Do? Step one: Cut a hole in a box. Ha. Kidding! Step one: Fill out your 2nd Chance tournament bracket - note, fewer choices, more agony! Step two: hit submit! How Does it Work? Same as the regular DABWAHA tournament does: voting for the…

I’m taking a break from your regularly scheduled discussion of all things Man-Titty and Romance to participate in The Internet Strikes Back which focuses on Net Neutrality. For those of you not in the US, or in the US and not sure what the hell I’m talking about, Net Neutrality is about allowing internet users the same speed and level of connection across devices, hardware, and method of connection. If Net Neutrality were not in effect, Verizon, for example, my internet service provider, could give me faster connective speeds to it’s sponsored sites and block access to sites it doesn’t…

Congratulations to Larissa Ione, whose book Ecstasy Unveiled won the 2010 DABWAHA! Larissa will receive a $200 gift certificate from Jane and Sarah for a spa near her home - all the better to relax after all that vote mania! And big congratulations to the bracket winners! To bracket champion Pamela Sinclair: an Apple iPad and a $100 GC for ebooks to fill up the new ebook reader from AllRomance eBooks and OmniLit. WOO HOO! And to the worst bracket: TT Thomas wins for finishing in 845th place, and will receive a selection of books from the Oddshots bloggers, Meljean…

I’ve spent the last three days playing with my iPad. While there are many very savvy and very insightful reviews of the device out there, this probably isn’t one of them. It’s more of a log of my experience trying the device and the things I noticed as I set it up (Oh my God the Setting Up and the Waiting for the Setting Up) and tried to read on it, and my thoughts after a few days of doing so. My apologies in advance for the length of this review, but I think it communicates a lot about a…

I am underwhelmed. Here’s my initial thoughts on Apple’s big announcement, culled from Notepad and Twitter. - iPad?! Really?! REALLY? Gosh, I’m sorry I no longer have a Nook now. They would have been great partners. The iPad, now available in Light, Maxi, and Super (8Gb, 16Gb 64Gb)? As Tessa Dare said, are there NO women at Apple who could have given them the heads up (HA) that this is a BAD NAME? Please someone tell me they’ll just name the next device iVAGINA and be done with it? Is this how they’re targeting female technology consumers and book readers?…
