She’s Everywhere You Want to Be
by SB Sarah | February 28, 2008 | Thursday at 5:38 pm | 13 CommentsYou know that lady in the flippy pink skirt who is a potential beauty addict and has the misfortune to find herself in the middle of a murder mystery in the paperback See Isabelle Run? Poor woman has some problems, clearly, not the least of which is imminent overexposure.
But wait, there’s more. While surfing through the coupons in the mail yesterday, look what I found:

Poor woman has vein problems, too?!

No, Sarah, it’s that she used to have vein problems, before she went to The Vein Center of North Jersey! Now she’s free to skip all over Bayonne showing her bikini wax to all and sundry with no worries about unsightly varicose veins!

I really hope this woman gets royalties every time her legs show up somewhere!

I’ve also seen her in a tan raincoat type thing (covered more skin than that stupid skirt) on a business book. I don’t remember the title, unfortunately, but I had to stop and stare for a minute. It’s insane how little they do to the image and think no one will notice. Kinda insults my intelligence.

I mean, like, we all have varicose veins on our asses, right?

Man, I don’t want to even think about a varicose vein strong enough to compete with my cellulite. *shudders*

Have they run out of models? Can the publisher not afford an original image? This is pretty sorry.
I know that epubs use a lot of pics from iStock, since they are inexpensive. But you would think a big publisher could afford to find a less widely-used image on their book cover.
I sure hope they didn’t use kicky leg varicose girl on the cover! Did you ever find out the results of our comments???

I actually think this is the most appropriate location for her.

I’m sure she’s in a bikini wax or laser hair removal ad, too.
I can’t help wondering how it feels to be a leg model? I mean, is it a boost for your ego to see images of your legs (and slightly higher) in such demand? Or is it hard to handle that they only want you from the waist down? (I dated a guy like that once, and it wasn’t good for my self-esteem!)

I’m not surprised, if she wears those shoes every day! And clearly she does, since every time we see her….

*sigh* And this is why we are told never to do stock photography. You could end up on a book cover… or in a medical ad… or in Nazi propoganda. Okay, so that hasn’t happened to the Happy Skippy Pink Flasher yet, but this image does seem to pop up a lot.

According to my Obgyn, vericose veins can pop up on other places…
My security word is “military94”, does that mean Happy Skippy Pink Flasher girl will soon be found on military recruitment posters?

These may be popping up as repeated images because major publishers don’t have the fully staffed art departments they used to employ. And obviously the owner of the image was smart enough to insist on a fee-for-use deal rather than sell all rights. Which is good for someone, and I hope it’s the photographer.
All I hear on my local radio station are ads for plastic surgery, lasik, and vein surgery. It’s enough to make you go mad.
“Care76”—as in, maybe I’ll care when I’m 76. And maybe the rest of the world will have to look at my veins and cringe.

Dunno if this got mentioned on the last go round, but that photo is the basis for the art used by the blogger, ArmCandyGirl, on her website: http://www.armcandygirl.com/ It’s a well-travelled piece of stock footage, I must say.
