Gwen H. is looking for this book, and it sounds like a heck of a story:
I don't remember the category line. I read it in 2001, but it was probably late '90s book. I don't remember cell phones or internet being used.
A cop was being set up, he hid in heroine's car or truck, and then made her hide him out in her home while he cleared his name. He thought she was mild mannered schoolteacher type but she had a bunch of guns. Turns out she was also a famous writer of thriller/adventure novels using a male pseudonym.
Ring any bells?
Surprise! She's a writer! Anyone remember this book?

I’ve read it and it’s… aw crap. Now I’m conflating it with Divorced, Desperate, and Delicious by Cristie Craig. It’s not that one, because she’s a photographer and doesn’t have any weapons other than a singing fish. Sorry.

Was there a category line that didn’t have pictures of people on the front cover? Because I don’t remember people on it. Seems like it was blue with flowers or something.

This sounds really familiar. I think it was a Loveswept title from the late 90s. Seems like I remember that she was a mystery writer and had pictures of her book covers on her home office walls. I also seem to remember that he was an Oklahoma State Police guy on the run. For some reason, Janis Reams Hudson comes to mind. I’m thinking One Rainy Night, but I’m really not sure.

I’m not entirely sure how well it’ll display on a Kindle, as I have a Nook myself, but from my experience, PDFs are generally too large for e-ink screens, but should work fine on tablets. (The file is formatted in such a way that converting it would be a bit of a mess.)
(And since this book is long out of print and not available digitally, I don’t think this should bother anyone.)

Thank you, but I did find it on Amazon last night. It looks like the author has put her backlist up…they just aren’t all connected to originals and the search was wonky.

I bought the ebook too. Made me remember how much I enjoyed reading the first few times. I gave up my paperback version sometime back.
