The summary:

In The Heat Of Battle

The hard-won cease-fire between the battling immortals doesn’t last long. In the blink of an eye, human surgeon Dr. Petra Robichaud is back on the frontlines, and starring in yet another of the oracle’s prophesies. As the only healer who can talk to the dead, Petra doesn’t have much choice about her role—even when her breathtaking ex-lover shows up at exactly the wrong time…

Two Hearts Fight To Survive

Petra may have moved on when Commander Galen left her, but she never forgot him—and the passionate moments they shared. Seeing him again is a distraction she really doesn’t need with both armies honing new weapons, and wounded all over her M*A*S*H unit. But how can she resist him? It’s now or never for the demi-god Galen to become Petra’s mate…but with the fate of humanity at stake, will their desire be worth the cost?

And here is Mary Jo's review:

Petra is a human doctor caught between a war zone of fighting gods and two former lovers. For her, having the gift of seeing spirits and being part of an end of the world prophecy are much easier problems. Petra is a kick ass heroine. Her first duty is to her patients and then her friends. She is as much of a hero as the warriors around her. Galen was a demi-god, but gave up immortality for her. Marc is a fellow doctor and a part of her past. Both worthy heroes with much to offer her, but she has to choose one. I thought I had a clear favorite, but I kept changing my mind.

I loved the use of mythology. The referenced stories and characters added richness to the story. The history appealed to me and is effortlessly blended in. The world building and backdrop paint a bleak picture of the future, but the human element keeps hope alive.

Forget Pinterest for baby shower ideas. Skip through and find Medusa’s party planning and gift ideas. It will be memorable and possibly worth imitating.

Monster Mash reminds me of the Halloween song and put the soundtrack in my head while I read. Some of the creatures in the story sound like they were stirred up in a lab. M*A*S*H is one of my all-time favorite television shows. I saw similarities with some of the characters. Petra cast as Hawkeye, the devoted and irreverent surgeon who saves others and dreams of going home. Her roommates have a Trapper John and Charles Winchester feel to them. I won’t spoil it by saying who I thought was Corporal Klinger.

This is the last book in the series and a great way to end it.
