Book CoverGrab your nearest crispy dollar: Orbit publishing has announced $1 ebooks at a special site just for you, your ebook needs, and your one single dollar. This month’s $1 ebook is Brent Weeks’ The Way of the Shadows, the first book in a series.

In a fit of majestic brilliance, they’ve included links to vendors all up and down the joint, from Amazon to eReader to BooksonBoard to Stanza and Sony, so whatever your platform or buying venue of choice, grab that dollar and run.

Well played, Orbit, well played.

ETA: And in further adventures of free or cheap eBooks, Harlequin will be giving away ebooks as part of their 60th Anniversary celebration beginning 29 January. You can sign up to be reminded to stop back and seize your download. One book from each line will be give away, and 16 books in total will be free, cheezy bread, free.

Gosh, all this excitement. Sir Kindle the Fusspot and I need to go lie down.

[Thanks to Michelle Styles for the link.]

Thank you sooooo much for this info. I’ve been dying to read The Way of Shadows. At Books on Board I just scooped it up for .85 you can’t beat that.

the Way of Shadows is absolutely incredible.  I couldn’t put it down and as soon as I finished, I started calling the local bookstores to find a copy of the second book in the trilogy.  (It’s crazy how many places in my area were sold out!)

Reminded me in a way of the first book in George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series, only not as depressing and most of the cast of characters stay alive until the end of the book.

The Way of Shadows (and the rest of the Night Angel Trilogy) are well-written, well-plotted stories with intriguing characters that are even better on the second reading.  I’ve been suggesting the series to strangers I meet in the SF/F section of the bookstore!  Assassins, criminals, love, faith, legends - what else could a girl ask for!

I absolutely adored the first book! It was amazing. Read it in two days, and could barely wait to get my hands on more. Everyone should spring for this book, even if they dislike fantasy, because it is just awesome.

Thanks for the head’s up!  I’m going to try the first book - nothing (well, very little) to lose!  The book for February, Use of Weapons by Iain M. Banks, is my husband’s favorite book ever.  He loved it so much I gave it a try - and I enjoyed it so much I read several more by the author.  Mr. Banks is an incredibly talented sci-fi writer, highly recommended.

Cool! I was thinking about getting this from the local library to check it out,
but I picked it up from Fictionwise for free.

Not only is Baen letting us download the books for free, but in honor Veteran’s Day, they opened their entire catalogue for free to the reading disabled- dyslexic’s, those who can’t hold books, visually impaired, etc. I think that is fantastic. I am making sure hubby has that link, since he had to quit reading until he got his ereader. One of these days I will have to have the thing surgically removed from his hands.

I signed up for the reminder on harlequin, but am having a problem with the Orbit one. I think it is me, not them though.
