Unfortunately I haven’t seen him in my library. I would remember if I had.  Of course, we librarians are only listening to the message not looking at the pictures. :)

Wow, awesome. I ditto Peggy - haven’t seen him in my library either. No one that gorgeous ever comes into any of the branches I work at!

OH,  MY   GOD!  If he hung out shirtless in my local library none of the librarians would get anything done but stare at him and listen to his sexy voice.  AND, a lot of users would be drooling all over the furniture.

Wow!  doing an ad like that for the library is so great!  Not only yummy but nice too.  Be still my heart!

If I didn’t already LURVE the library, that would have pushed me over the edge.  With 5 voracious readers in my family, the library keeps me from going broke while I attempt to feed our book habits.

Wowser.  I was going to the library, yes, but somehow I doubt I’ll find him buried in the kids section where my boy’ll make me hang out.  He plays with puzzles, I read.  It’s a good deal…it’d be better if he were there.  Hehehe.

I’m at the library several times a week, but I’ve never seen that man there.  Perhaps he hangs out in periodicals.

The commerical is funny and eyecatching in body and adventure.  I recently met a male librarian - 27 years old, 6 foot, blond hair, blue eyes, and great shape - in our local park.  He was looking for a landmark and asked for directions.  As we walked together to it, we ended up in a discussion about books and his job with the Cook County Library System (Chicago suburb) where the taxpayers willingly support the public libraries.  After we went our separate ways, I remembered that I am happily married to my own hero.  Sigh ...

I currently live at the library as I am away from home for two months.  No hotties here but plenty of helpful librarians and romance readers (the summer book club read Jane Green’s Swapping Lives for July’s selection). 

Last Sunday at RomCon, Julia Quinn and Elizabeth Boyle hosted the Library Love In.  Authors, readers, and librarians shared ideas for programs to promote romance reading.  Julia and Elizabeth announced they have plenty of Slovakia translations of their books to donate to libraries in need of that language!

Julia ended the panel with “Librarians singing Lady Gaga” on YouTube.  It may be old news to you all, but it was the first time I heard it.  Then Julia, Elizabeth, Cathy Maxwell, and another author starting dancing to it ... someone has the blackmail pictures.

Why isn’t there a “Studs of the Library” calendar?  It would be an awesome fundraiser.

In Oregon, one county just voted down the last ditch tax attempt to save the library, and they closed the entire county system.  Library Studs to the rescue!!

Actually, I was just at the library yesterday to renew my library card (so I can borrow ebooks for my Kobo.) We also signed the girls up for the summer reading program. Love books, love libraries, and *love* these commercials.

closed down the library?  nevermind the fun stuff, where are they going to send kids to do research reports?!  (or is the internet suddenly considered a reliable replacement for paper?  I mean yes, professional med journals are available online and such like that, but not everything is on the net yet!)

on a side note, this could be in interesting subject of debate:  with everything slowly getting more and more ebook and on the internet.  what will happen to libraries?  for that matter, if paper dies, how will anyone create a lending library without copyright violations and what not?  people aren’t even using cd’s as often as they used to anymore…

Nina, that’s a very good question especially since, contrary to what seems to be a common belief, most people do not own or have access to a computer on a regular basis.  But I guess in a society that considers where someone’s genitals have been more important than their contributions to society, why would they support something that provides actual value to their community.

And that would answer the question of why I spent so much time @ the library growing up. Cook County has always supplied excellent library staff.

No hotties in my library either, unfortunately.

I am blessed with a wonderful library. Okay the building is awful, a “designed by committee” disaster that is not only ugly outside (let’s do red brick! Okay, how about white limestone! Now let’s put bus yellow and flame red metallic hulks right next to the glass wall turret of fugly!) but inside (purple and lime green polka dot carpet butts up against orange and red stripe, srsly). But the books. Are. Amazing. Huge, huge catalog. Sci fi and category romance in one section, but all other romance just on the shelves by author, where it belongs.

Our library has embraced the digital age, with play-a-ways, digital downloads and loans, and an amazing website. All this in a town of just a bit under 100,000 people. And it’s packed. All the time.

OTOH, in my home town of 25,000 the library was forced to move from its already cramped quarters because of severe structural issues. The town refused to renew a library tax so the library, already small and limited and now operating out of a storefront at the local mall, may have to close. It’s criminal.

@ Nina & Donna, The thing that kills me is that so many people who find it difficult to otherwise get on the internet go where?  The library.  So now they’re doubly screwed.

Oregon does have an online eBook library.  Not very big yet, but very cool.

I really don’t understand how they can close down libraries. I just…I really don’t. On so many levels is that stupid.

Not bound for the library this weekend. I went yesterday. Printed a sheet, turned in Narcissus in Chains, got Undead and Unreturnable and Blue Moon. Also donated a children’s book that the librarian wanted but couldn’t afford. So we now have one book on paganism to go with our one book on Sikhism.

I had to post this, I know, I know not old spice manly but up until I saw the video for old spice guy here I thought THIS was the best library video I have ever seen. I love the ending, I’ve always had an irrational fear of those sliding book shelves…now I know why!

@Nina - It’s called Library2Go and it’s hosted by the Oregon Digital Library Consortium.  You have to be a member of a library that’s a member of the consortium (i.e., I have a Multnomah County library card, and it’s a member).

Also, u have to download the reader they provide, and there aren’t many devices other than a laptop/desktop that will read the books.

But it’s progress, so I’m trying to use it.

Since I work in a library I’m often there anyway. But this weekend I wasn’t there. I went to Vegas to see (once again) BARRY MANILOW!!!!

Frankly, I prefer him to the OSG. But then again, I’ve never been into the muscular types. Something about them has always turned me off.

Admittedly, I puchased old spice for my boy toy after seeing the commerical, but now how can I get him to discuss books? and shirtlessly….

There is NOBODY at my library or bookstore who looks like that :X And agreed we need a library studs calender, or how about a program where ones that look like him read romance novels to women, maybe once a week meetings?  That would generate a lot more interest in libraries, lol.

Somehow, I think any parent of toddlers can find, “stop throwing peanut butter,” quite possible without a library, and without the ability to read or any clue as to what the alphabet is.
